One, that moon is NOT purple. You must be color blind.

Two, I noticed that video is from your Youtube. Self-advertising isn't allowed on here..

Since when aren't we allowed to post our own YouTube videos? If that's not allowed, are memes and graphics next?

And by modern definition of the phrase, "blue moon" means it's the second full moon in a month.

If you're going to scold and mock someone, at least do it with understanding.

It's in the rules. No self-advertising. It's HIS youtube channel. And I wasn't scolding or mocking..I was just saying that the moon was not blue, purple or red in color... And FYI, I DO know what a blue moon means. :)

Re-read #13 in Da Rulz.

And then read #10, because you are the one constantly breaking that one.

What is it with you and new people? If they haven't been scolded by Ladybug, they haven't been initiated properly.

Clue: Every single teddy bear video or garden video I've ever posted came from MY YouTube channel. Most of your graphics come from YOUR files. How is that working for either of us for advertising something? Have you receieved a revenue stream yet? Because I sure haven't. I can't even figure out how to make it a revenue stream. (Well, actually I have. I just don't want to, so haven't applied the principles of marketing to do so. lol)

Rennie -- new guy -- and what has he receieved so far from this site? Scolding.

I think it's cool to see such a bright moon in daytime skies. No idea what that has to do with discussing the Bible, but then again, it's not like I've never posted something in the wrong forum, and, at least he has a good excuse. He's new. I'm not, and did the same thing a few days ago. Didn't get any scolding from it. Why? Because I'm not new guy!

And you're not hall monitor.

So, Rennie. Welcome to CC, and understand, once you get past "new guy" status, a lot less people are going to get all over your case. We're a bit paranoid around here, so we tend to shoot first and then ask questions.

Granted, some of us keep shooting, but we're shooting blanks.

Oh, and I did think the moon was cool. Still don't know what that has to do with Bible discussion, but figure you'll get how this site works, eventually. It our shooting doesn't scare you away.

I've always known what it means. It's the third of four full moons in a season, and sometimes the 2nd full moon in a month. And also the term "blue" moon has no reference to the moon's color. :)

Yes, you know now what it means.

For someone who hates criticism so much, I keep thinking you should be the person who wouldn't do it to other people constantly. Always offending someone knew or defending yourself.

I don't hate criticism. And I'm not criticizing you OR the OP. :) I just personally would never have a youtube channel. All I did was make a remark as to what the color of that moon was or was not. It was an observation, not a criticism. And now I'm done with this thread. We've derailed it enough.

Well, if you always knew what it meant then it seems you might have explained it better than being the third of four moons in a season which makes it look like you merely googled it and wrote what you read. Since the moon orbits the earth approximately once ever 27 days, it only occurs once every several years where there are four full moons in a season.

365 days / 4 seasons = 91.25 days per season 91.25 days / 27 = 3 full moons during each season of the year, normally.

And also the term "blue" moon has no reference to the moon's color. :)
Again, just because you read it on the internet doesn't make it true. :p The reason it is called a blue moon is because the moon's position relative to earth and sun, light passing throught the earth's atmosphere is refracted and it produces the blueish coloration of the moon when viewed from certain locations on the earth.

that would make any moon of any phase 'blue' every single day of the year.
((just for the record, heavenly bodies all look redder near the horizon when they're viewed through thicker atmosphere, and bluer near the zenith for same reason))

.. but it's called a '
blue moon' when it's the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] full moon of a single month.
source: my Oma

for why it's called that i'd have to go search info hwy myself.. and i didn't know anyone called it that for an 'additional' full moon during a season until this thread, wherein someone helpfully did some searching for me. :)

according to Sky&Telescope the term 'blue moon' for a 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] full moon in a month is a relatively recent use, maybe only going back to the 1980's

http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/celestial-objects-to-watch/once-in-a-blue-moon/

??

the article mentions that after volcanic eruptions or other events that toss a lot of dust into the air, the moon may actually look blue, and states that centuries ago the term used to be synonymous with "
never!" i.e. "when pigs fly!" -- because the moon doesn't actually turn blue. the 1934 song seems to lean towards this usage with no apparent reference to the number of full moons occurring during a season or month.

He also called it a blood moon which it was it was not also I am confused as to why it was posted to begin with and why in the bible discussion forum? I mean I love gazing at the moon I do it any night I can but for what purpose was it videoed and posted here? Are we to discuss the blue moon itself or is it having something to do with discussion of the blood moon or?

And here I was thinking it had to do with Smurfs. Tia ks for the info.
