A friend of mine has just recently started seeking answers about God. He is an atheist only because that's how he was brought up. Now he has become curious about God and the bible.

Today he came over and said a man he works with gave him two DVDs to watch. He asked me if he should watch them.

The problem here is,
I have never watched them nor have I even heard of them. I told him he should just read the bible first. But he wants to watch them.

So my question is,

Have any of you heard or know of the DVDs called
"The Prophecy Code, Bible Secrets Unlocked with Doug Batchelor"?
If so, what do you think of them?

I don't want my friend being taught false teachings. He doesn't know God's word at all. I'm afraid if he watches them he will believe everything in them and if its false teachings than he will be led astray before he even has a chance to truly know God.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is he really going to learn about God by watching DVDs about Bible codes? Somehow I doubt it.

I'm trying to find out what they are about because I don't want him being led astray.
And no offense, but that wasn't my question.

You are right, though, he needs to start with God's Word if he is truly interested in God.

What's the video about?
It should be a listing of a bunch of videos by the same guy about the subject matter... you could quickly scan through a few of them to get a feel for what is being presented. At least that way you are not completely in the dark about what is being taught.

I did read a book years ago on Bible codes and it was quite interesting, but it was not teaching God's Word. I was a believer at the time, so it was not like I was trying to get to know about God that way; someone gave the book to me.

Yeah. That's what I've been trying to get him to understand. He was brought up to believe God isn't real. So to him I guess he feels like it doesn't matter how he learns about God. I begged him not watch them.
He said he wants to. So I was going to watch it with him. But I don't know what they are about. I looked them up but I'd rather hear from people on CC. I trust alot of members here.

Okay thank you!

Yeah, I watch alot of different people and read many books but I've been seeking God and have studied my bible long enough to determine what's wright and wrong. (Not saying I know everything cuz obviously I don't)
I might watch a DVD or two but I'd rather he didn't. Not until he starts studying the bible. But he is stubborn and doesn't listen very well. Lol

I haven't watched them either. We would invite him to church Sunday and after the services, take him home for lunch . If he didn't want to go to church with us, we would invite him and a few of our Christian friends to dinner. These dinners usually end with a discussion of our lives before and after we met Christ.

Most people here consider me kind of out there, and even I think Doug Batchelor is way off in left field.

I've invited him to church but he said he isn't ready for that. Honestly he has never been to church. Not even once. His parents were very against church.
I have some friends and a few elders from church coming over tomorrow. He will be here as well. Hopefully it'll help him.
Thank you :)

I've seen alot of your posts, I don't always agree with everything you say but most of it I do agree with so your opinion to me will be very helpful.
Care to share why you feel that way?
Like I said, I have no clue who he is.

If he's not the reading type the movie "Son of God" is on Netflix. That would be a good intro.

I love that movie! It's awesome that you mentioned it because, I made him watch it with me about a month ago. That's why he became interested in learning more about God.

I sometimes watch his "Amazing Facts" show because he IS entertaining. But I seldom agree with much he says.

But that is for you to decide for yourself.

Don't be misled by that title of 28 things.

He often does not say what you may be thinking he will.
