'But the word of the Lord stands forever...' 1 Peter 1:25J
ana Jones says, 'During the day I take a few moments to unwind by reading the Bible. After seeing me do this for several months, my four-year-old daughter became concerned: "Aren't you ever going to finish reading that book?"' You could read the Bible for a lifetime and not 'scratch the surface'.

There's no other book like it. For example,

1) No human being would have written to such a high standard. Stop and think of the best person you know. You must admit, even they would have left certain things out, wouldn't they?

2) There's an aura the Bible generates that no other book does. Martin Luther said, 'The Bible is alive, it speaks to me; it has feet, it runs after me; it has hands, it lays hold of me.'

Try laying a newspaper on your table at a restaurant and no one will give you a second look. But lay your Bible on it and they'll stare at you, watch you chew your food, and maybe even take a note of your licence plate when you get into your car. That's because the Bible creates a sense of God's presence that forces a reaction in the hearts of men and women.

3) We are changed as we read it. Our core values are altered, peace enters our spirit, joy wells up within our heart. 'The Word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us to what we really are' (Hebrews 4:12 NLT). The answers you need are in your Bible, so make it part of your everyday.

I love devotionals, they help remind you of imortant things.

Blessings

Very true! I'm often struck by the fact that no human could ever have written what I'm reading.
One book I'm reading is A Place of Quiet Rest by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. She talks a lot about absorbing the Bible, making it a part of you. I also bought a "journaling Bible" so I could write in it. I think writing about what you read helps you think about it more, so does memorizing.

I love reading my bible! Almost every morning. Or some other teaching of God. My sit down time with my Lord. I could never do without it.

That is true, there is no other book like the Bible which speaks of intelligence. If you read all the religions of the world, the Bible is the only one that addresses everything to do with humans. It told us the whole history of mankind, deals with our spiritual side, and makes sense compared to all the other religions of the world.

If a person does not believe the Bible how can they believe anything that has been written.

Humans definitely did not write the Bible by their own accord. The Bible was written by about 40 different writers over a vast period of time, but yet it has the same theme from start to finish.

No human beings could orchestrate that over that vast period of time keeping it in theme, nor would they want to after so long.

With people changing their opinions about things, governments changing modes of operation, during time, there is no way the Bible could be written by man's accord and keep the same thing.

They would have to understand the interpretation of things written in the past to continue it with the same theme, which not even some people who claim to be with Christ can interpret some things, let alone the world.

The only way the Bible can have the same theme from start to finish over a vast period of time, not losing books before them, understanding the interpretation of past books to further the theme, understanding things that will be new but not contrary to the Bible,is if it is given to them by God.

God told us the whole history of mankind and in the book of Isaiah God challenges all religions of the world to prove that their religion is true and their God is true by telling future events before they happen, which God said none of them will be able to do that.

The Bible is definitely given to man by a God and since that is true we should follow that God.

we can read yet if we dont pray and have the holy spirit reveal to us Christ Jesus thru out we deceive ourselves just as the pharasies and sadduces and the scribes of Jesus day did with the old testament. Even satan knows the bible to tear down others using it -

The whole message - Love God for His infinite kindeness and mercy shown us with the climax being the cross of calvary and follow the other commandment Jesus gave us - to love our neighbour.........:)

Pharasie ridiculed rebuked even cast out people who didnt believe as they did. Still happens to this day :(

Yes read your Bible and ask God to reveal it to you. Here's what scripture says:

2 Cor 11:1-5:

"I hope you will put up with a little of my foolishness; but you are already doing that. I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough."

So scripture shows us that people can be deceived and led astray by false teachers who preach a false Jesus, a different gospel, and receive a different spirit than the ones the Apostles had received from Christ.

Tell me directly Consumed, are you part of the Oneness movement which denies the Trinity and historical Christian teachings?

i will answer your question just answer mine ive been trying to get you to answer yet you attacked me over, a simple one - what denomination are you bro?? easy ask, everyone else is open and stand in the light with that question - no shame in Christ and i will answer you in a jiffy

bro you seem to view my post as a attack on you when all i do is give my heart on topics just like anyone else, yet cause i, like others who dont agree with you incur your wounded pride it would seem, love is my motivation, love of God, love of my neighbour, not that i am right or wrong, Jesus is my judge. Now you even question my salvation, wow, thought Jesus made it clear that the holy spirit would come to comfort us and lead us into all truths thru being spiritually minded, not carnal.

ps - what is oneness movement??

You've been on the attack Consumed. You've been at me for the past hour insinuating all sorts of things because I love God and people enough to tell them the truth. I continue to say it over and over and over again: it's not unloving to speak against heresy. Yes I love the people caught in it. Yes I want to see them get free from it. Yes I care enough about people to help them avoid it. I'm not trying to earn my way to heaven. I'm already going. I'm simply acting out of love as scripture teaches.

Peter said, “Always be ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence” (1 Pet. 3:15; NASB). The word translated here as “make a defense” is the Greek, apologia. The apologist par excellence from biblical times was the apostle Paul himself. The Bible tells us that Paul “reasoned” with unbelievers in order to explain the truths of Christianity to them. Paul used terms and arguments his contemporary audience could understand, and he provided “reasoned” responses to their objections (e.g., Acts 17:17). Paul instructed others to carry on the apologetic task, saying that we must “demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God” (2 Cor. 10:5).

It's done from the loving heart of a spiritually reborn Christian person accurately dividing the Word of truth. My own. Jesus did it, the apostles did it, the early church fathers did it, and we're encouraged in scripture to do it as well.

God LOVES these people and wants them to know Him as He is. That's the reason behind it Consumed. Not because a political party and purity cult existed in Jesus time and he denounced it and you think that anyone who, in love, corrects false teaching today and studied God's Word must somehow be a Pharisee. You're the one making the false charges now and doing the condemning while complaining about authentic followers of Christ who know God's Word speaking against false teachings.

You're in the wrong here Consumed and being hypocrytical about it and it's absurd. Where is your love for those of us who are in Christ and sharing His Word in truth? Why engage in name calling while hiding behind your great "love" for all the false teachers?

Are you a member of the Oneness movement?

i will answer your question just answer mine ive been trying to get you to answer yet you attacked me over, a simple one - what denomination are you bro?? easy ask, everyone else is open and stand in the light with that question - no shame in Christ and i will answer you in a jiffy

How is correcting people who teach God is something other than what He is in the Bible "camels strained for a gnat" Consumed? Do you believe a person can come to God through Brahma or one of the false gods of Mormonism? Do you believe all roads lead to the same place Consumed? I don't. The Bible says they don't. Jesus, the apostles, the early church fathers, and educated Christians though it was important to present God as He really Is.

I've attended assemblies that were tied to denominations and those that weren't but just organic assemblies. So what? And why have a special disregard for educated Christians who have been to Bible College. Honestly, I found it helpful.

I will lighten up though because we need gentleness and reverence. Anyone who has left a false teaching gets a hug and job well done from me. Peace and God bless Consumed.

Thats a cool way of not answering a question!

Ok I will make it a bit simpler.

Do you love heresy? do you understand the difference? we are to love all that is very true. but ae are out of love to speak against fallicies and untruths and this includes those who deny the very foundation of Christianity.

So consumed, maybe if I put it this way. Do you love people enough to warn them and speak against heresy?

So you actually do believe that all roads lead to the God of the Bible. It looks like you are what is known as a religious pluralist and happen to be a Christian instead of a Hindu or Muslim or Mormon or whatever.

"In theology, pluralism suggests that there are many paths to and expressions of truth about God and several equally valid means to salvation" -Dictionary of Theological Terms.

Pluralism: The belief that every religion is true, that each provides a genuine encounter with the Ultimate. One may be better than the others, but all are adequate.

So you believe then that every religion is true and provides a genuine encounter with the God of the Bible? Is this your view Consumed?

That was not gentle nor reverant Ibe as 1 Peter instructs us. It was rude and hypocritical.

Consumed is a loving person and I am in no way saying he is not a Christian. I'm trying to understand what his belief is on this. I think I get where he's at now but am looking for confirmation and want him to answer me.

Consumed? You've stated your position that everyone in the world comes to the cross and God the father and is saved. Is this what you believe and teach? Can you confirm or clarify? We want to understand exactly what you believe brother.
