I see in here, (the Bible Forum), a tendency to make fun of other's bible based beliefs.
The tendency is to poke fun instead of address.
It would be better to address using scripture instead of making fun of them.
Not one place in the Word is a saint found belittling another fellow believer's doctrine.
Jesus lambasted the pharisees, but of course they first accused Him of being a devil.
Elijah mocked the false prophets but they were cutting themselves and calling on other gods.
There is a spirit behind it. - (Mocking other christian's beliefs.)
Be careful what spirit you speak from, because it might not be the right one.
(I ram people all the time, but that is for misstatements and calling out others, not for their bible beliefs.)
It's so easy to fall back into the premise that you are always right.
What if you aren't? How will you ever receive correction?
How can you know, if you continually sit in the seat of the scorner?

Sadly it is mostly built upon the prejudices of some who are unaware that some of other expressions might actually be saved! I have been called sinner, works oriented, catholic(i am not catholic),pridefull(because i believe God helps us live for him,and we are without excuse for not doing so),and even a goat by those who's theological position i rejected and disagreed with..
So, sadly that is what you get here on CC. Get used to it..things won't change..

I ram people all the time, but......
i reckon few of us are doing what we say we are.:)
or, rather, we have an excuse for it.

there are claims made i'll never take seriously, and....
no one is going to tell me having a sense of humor is a sin.
pietism tried that....disfiguring their faces and such.

only the deluded believe they are always right, the same ones who think they can be perfectly sinless.
most have lost touch with their past and how they too were once sinners.

however most of the time the "jokes" are not meant to be funny and some are picking fun at the person they used to be more than the person they are speaking to. sometimes people label others as scorners and are too easily offended they don't bother to pray and see the heart behind the words spoken.

there is always more to the story then what is on the surface.
how many people are willing to look deeper?
how many relationships are just superficial?
even in real life much less the internet?

I don't respect others' bible based beliefs. i respect and love others but there is only ONE truth. it is the ONE truth we should all strive to learn. the wisdom from Above through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

I may not know all the answers but I know one who does: Christ Jesus

and through prayer I know enough to follow His leading and do the work He asks of me.

Words can bring up or bring us down, start a fire in our hearts or put it out. I am not going to claim I am usually right because i am sure i have been wrong so many times but yes i have met people on here who believe they are in the right and do not sin. I only ask that i never become like that and stay humble in the lord, and i Have been told i do not know god just because I have tried to teach who he is, usually when people say you are a goat or you do not know god its a defence reaction because they do not want to believe they are wrong. But if we were always right we would get a swelled head wouldn't we?

You become like 'that' when you judge others, in fact, when you condemn others you condemn yourself, Scripture is clear, in so many ways. Run your own race, as rickshafe said, Scripture.

A line on use often to all I come in contact with, friends, family, foes, is, 'The Lord leads.'

It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Our human words will do nothing positive, ultimately, if not from Him, He is our connection to life, and, it is His 'life,' not to mention, His 'truth,' and, don't forget, it's His 'way,' too, that we are to follow. :)

My experience is to not take anything too seriously simply because forums are, for the most part, tone-neutral. This was the original purpose of adding the emoticons. Smiley Faces and emoticons are used to show emotions in text.

My opinion (take it or leave it) is to allow the administrators to their job of moderating and the rest of us have fun.

layman, over time i discovered that after having spent much energy and time on intense studies or subjects, remaining serious and sober throughout...sooner or later the old bludgeon "head knowledge" comes out.
soooo.....some fun is order, as well....i do believe:)

I agree, why take anything personal when you are not standing in front of the person. When I speak to people face to face I am very careful how I word my sentences because there isn't any "editing" in person...lol HAVE FUN!

1 Kings 18:26-27
26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.

One of the funniest parts of the whole bible... imho Maybe he is sleeping??? lol. I still laugh at that.

The way I see it all of us want to be right!

This is rightly so because we are dealing with Life or death.
I have found my self searching the threads to see who has bashed me or someone else, when I catch my self I understand that this attitude comes from me and not the Lord. I close the page, pray and try to get my mind elsewhere. When I do not catch my self and answer someone's question or statement it usually returns negative.

I've also noticed that so far the people in this thread including me are the ones talking to each other lately. It is hard for us to understand each other when all claim to be christians but all have different beliefs. I believe that if we know what denominations we are talking with we can understand the better why you or I oppose such a statement and not to be used to bash one another. This is the reason why I made it clear when you see my profile that I am Roman Catholic. Not to say I have the truth, but to express my faith beliefs.

God Bless!

Mature people don’t make fun of other people. They argue their points respectfully.

I hear the call for joviality, even frivolity, seeing as Bible subjects are serious.
How about this:
Have a Bible forum for serious posts, and have another for cut and paste romper room antics.
One for scripture, another for funland in bibleschool.
How about that?
A forum for scripture, another for hyperbole.
That way the gears don't get bogged down either way.
On the one hand you have honest, earnest debate; on the other you have.......joyland, toyland, every girl and boy land.
How 'bout that?

Rick...I'm just so sorry that I offended you. :(

I hope you will forgive me, for I certainly took part.
If we sometimes get too childish (as opposed to child-like)
and don't take the topic as seriously as you'd wish,
you have only to speak to us about it. :)

I think most folks would 'hear' you.
love,
ellie
