Rightly Divide The Word Of Truth

Source: Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words

Greek orthotomeo - English dividing - Strongs 3718:
"to cut straight" is found in 2 Tim 2:15 "rightly dividing,"

2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, "rightly dividing the word of truth".
(NOTE: We divide by cutting a straight line)

Question: Where do we cut the straight dividing line in the word of truth?

Answer: The Death & Resurrection of Christ

Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
(NOTE: The New Testament/Covenant doesn't begin until after Christ's death & resurrection)

It's not until a sinless Christs; sacrificial sin atoning death = (sins waged paid) & resurrection = (Gods receipt, payment received & accepted).

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Matt 27:
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost

51 Behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
(NOTE: The old covenant/testament ends, right here, in resurrection power! The veil tears as Christ passes through it, breaking the spiritual barrier. Sin seperated man from God's presents. Thru faith in Christs FINISHED sin redemptive payment. We can come boldly unto the throne of grace - Heb 4:16)

Rom 5:
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
(NOTE: KJV Dictionary Definition, justification: In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of faith in the atonement of Christ).

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
(NOTE: We access God's grace thru faith in Christ's FINISHED sin atoning work & resurrection)

Ephesians 2:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Parsing vs 8, For by Gods grace = (unmerited/unearned favor) are ye saved > thru faith placed in the FINISHED sin redemptive work of Jesus the Christ & his resurrection.

Vs 9) and that not of yourselves (no self works are involved).

A Gift is given, not earned. Grace is a gift from God, accessed thru faith placed in Christ's FINISHED sin payment & resurrection.

Amen to that!! Well said!!

Not much different from some of those who claim to be in Christ here....And no, I will not capitalize my “g” at your request, let no man judge you on meat or drink or day or customs.....if it is your will that I follow your lead, why begin your introduction with a correction? Can you not even follow the simplist forms of respect?

I called you brother out of respect. If you understand respect you would 1. not jump a fellow poster who gave you respect 2.give proper respect to the Lords name. Only false gods are with a small g. This is simply fact. This is not about judging, you didn't commit a sin. I thought you had omitted it by mistake. Instead you jump me. Now can we be adult and discuss from here on? I understand you're being touchy because you feel attacked. I am asking to you to be clear on what you are saying. I may agree, but I won't know unless you are clear.

Capitalizing “g” is merely a custom, but as to not throw a stumbling block before you, and out of respect for your response, I will gladly try to do so when addressing you.

I believe that when we are saved, we are no longer under the jurisdiction of sin...it is not imputed upon a believer in Christ

Well all I can say to that is my old English teacher would rap my fingers if I did not use a capital using someones name. You learn to do so rather quickly. :)

Ok. So would you say a Christian is sinless after they are saved. And then if the answer to that is yes then you would say that a person who sinned was never saved in the first place. So are you OSAS? Just wondering.

I believe that sin is still sin....wether a Christian or nonbeliever is actively sinning....in which we all are. When we accept Christ as our personal savior, and believe that he died for the very subject we are discussing....I cannot rob him of the victory at the cross, by saying to you that: if I sin, as a Christian, his death is void of victory

Furthermore, my actions in front of anyone, can create a stumbling block, not all have the faith to understand that nothing is unlawful to them....sin becomes dangerous at that point, it is not imputed upon me, but I have no desire to put a stumbling block before a brother and sin openly....that would not be expedient

Many believe this to be dangerous...but I find it liberating....in that which was intended to be...as Paul said, you are free from slavery....slavery was the law, it was the law that showed us what sin was....without the law, how can there be sin? I mean this by way of the mind, not by mans traditions and judgements, it is a deep thing to discuss because so many of us are in different places in our Christian life, many can be offended by a truth they have not yet come to recognize

Paul was hesitant with the Corinthians....he did not believe they were ready for the truth

Rightly, what do you see as the purpose of a called out unique people that became known as Jews that became a nation in a land God gave them? My take is that it was to understand who God was, understand who they were, and then to share that message with the rest of the world. When they failed, God temporarily set them aside.

All people since the garden have been saved the same way, believing in God and what He has said. The Jew believed a Savior would be sent by God, we look back and believe He did, same thing.

You’re assertion that the message of salvation is different for Jew and gentile is wrong. Now if you argue that there are distinctions in some promises to Jew & gentile, then we can agree on that.

Hi Sipsey, we are in perfect agreement...some of my postings were misleading in the sense that I did not provide much detail...I am slowly learning how to communicste in a forum such as this, and not assume to much from others....I know that no one can read my mind, and my testimony as of late, leaves questions that are rightfully exploited....my apologies

On the subject of the Jews, yes...I am in lock step with you....what has been hard to convey....is the 4 gospels, and how they apply to a message of “saved by faith” in Christ

I understand that now.....there is neither Jew nor gentile, and salvation for the world is the same...

Many times it takes a few questions and a little back and forth to get to the heart of a matter.

Many churches....and I have attended many in my life....do not put the 4 gospels in context....it would be impossible for you to live the way it is written in the 4 gospels. This was Christ’s earthly ministry, applied to a people still under the law....which is contrary to Paul’s message of “saved by faith alone”

Paul’s message, which was hidden until it was revealed to the gentiles, was the doctrine that makes Jew or gentile alike, and partakers in “saved by faith without works”

I believe I offended many through my posts earlier in my chat room career....but that was not my intention.....after reading my own posts, it was easy to see how someone would take offense....I did not mean that the 4 gospels were of no use to a Christian, Jesus spoke of endless lessons that should be applied to our life....I could no more set aside the 4 gospels anymore than I could Paul’s message whom represented Jesus, and spoke his words...but the question was.....trying to live during the time of grace, and applying the 4 gospels, which were under the law....I cannot see how this is possible and still “feels” wrong To attempt as far as self condemnation under the law goes....when I condemn myself for something Christ died for, (sin)is that not a stumbling block for the Holy Spirit that resides in me? Is that not a lack of faith that he truly died for all of my sins? Where does self condemnation come from? It comes from the law
