Hebrews 4:10-11
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

First, how does a person cease from his own works but still work at their understanding of the 10 commandments? They don't. They either cease from their own work or they perform their understanding of the law. Its one or the other.

Secondly, how does someone enter that rest? Rest is only for those who are working really hard at the law but still not able to do it.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Third, why would you enter into Gods rest if it means you will ignore and break all the commandments?

Entering into Gods Rest doesn't cause a person to break ANY commandments. In fact, it is the ONLY way to keep commandments.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Why is being fruitful important?

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The only way to keep a spiritual law is by the Holy Spirit.(Rom 7:14) The only way to receive the Holy Spirit is by the Lord Jesus Christ.(John 14:26)

If a person is REALLY intent on keeping the law they will stop their work at it and become the Workmanship of God. Or as Paul put it;

Galatians 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

the bible doesn't contradict itself. In one place say we should obey the law, and in another say it is not valid.
Of course the Bible doesn't contradict itself. Do you believe that you are still under the law? (Romans 6:14; 10:1-4; Galatians 2:16; 3:10-14)

You say 9 out of 10 are valid and the laws of ordanences are not valid, and i say 10 out of 10 are valid and the laws of ordanence are not valid, they were just a shadow.
Then why don't you show me in the New Testament where the Church/the body of Christ is commanded to keep the sabbath day and explain to me exactly how you keep it using scripture to back up your explanation. Why is there no command in the New Testament for Christians to keep the sabbath day?

i agree with most of what you say, but this, "Out of this command comes other commands, including references for the moral aspect of 9 of the 10 commandments, which are reiterated in the New Testament, yet the command to keep the sabbath day is not binding on Christians under the new covenant." 4. Keep the sabbath day holy. - Not binding on the Church - Colossians 2:16-17
So you disagree with Colossians 2:16-17? -- food, drink, festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. The sabbath day is classed with the shadows, which had their fulfillment in Christ, yet for some reason (tradition, church indoctrination) people are determined to cling to certain shadows.

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Is the new covenant only for the house of Israel? What laws are those? This certainly would include the moral aspect of the law found in 9 of the 10 commandments below. Jews in the first century understood that God did not require Gentiles to keep the sabbath. When the barriers between Jews and Gentiles were eliminated through Jesus’ death (Ephesians 2:13-16), the Sabbath was one of the barrier ordinances. It was a ceremonial law for Israel (Exodus 16:23, 29; 31:12-18; 35:1-3; Leviticus 19:30; 23:2-3, 32; Numbers 15:32-36; 28:1-10; 29:39-40; I Chronicles. 23:30-31; II Chronicles 31:2-4; Isaiah 1:13; Amos 8:5; Nehemiah 10:31) and not an eternal moral law for everyone.

1. You shall have no other gods before Me. - Acts 14:15
2. You shall make no idols. - 1 John 5:21
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. - 1 Timothy 6:1; James 2:7; James 5:12
4. Keep the sabbath day holy. - Not binding on the Church - Colossians 2:16-17
5. Honor your father and your mother. - Ephesians 6:1-2
6. You shall not murder. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 John 3:15
7. You shall not commit adultery. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
8. You shall not steal. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 4:28
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. - Romans 13:9-10; Colossians 3:9-10
10. You shall not covet. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 5:3

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Let No One Disqualify You
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Col 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using
Colossians 2:14 - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

Ephesians 2:15 - Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.

The natural reading of Ephesians 2:14,15 and Colossians 2:14 would see that the entire old covenant written code was nailed to the cross, including the 10 commandments (with all the rules and regulations attached to them under the Mosaic Law) which was the center point of the old covenant (Exodus 34:29-34).

If the law of Moses bears the same relationship to believers today under the new covenant as it did to Israel under the old covenant, in terms of its binding status, then it was not fulfilled, and Jesus failed at what He came to do. On the other hand, if the Lord did accomplish His goal, then the law was fulfilled, and it is not a binding legal institution today under the new covenant.

2 Corinthians 3:6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. The law on our heart and mind is the love of the Spirit, not the law of the letter. *This is why Paul tells us that the new covenant is a covenant of the Spirit, and not of the letter.

Are the sabbath days mentioned in Col 2 ordinances? Yes, there were Sabbaths (more then one) introduced as a shadow, that are different to the weekly Sabbath that was sanctified and made holy at creation. There is no evidence to say verse 16 is referring to the seventh day sabbath in the 4th commandment. God said the new covenant would contain laws...."I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:" What are Gods laws? this is where we differ, i think the same God that gave 10 at at Siani hasn't changed and the same principles apply today. He wants to write them on our heart.
Colossians 2:16 is certainly referring to the 4th commandment.

*An unbiased reading of Colossians 2:16 will show that this is talking about not just "ceremonial Sabbaths." The words "ton sabbaton" or "sabbath days"; are the same words translated "Sabbath day" in Exodus 20:8 in the Septuagint (the Jewish translation of the Old Testament into Greek).

Look at Paul's reasoning, "Let no one judge you regarding a,
• festival - yearly Sabbaths,
• a new moon - monthly Sabbaths,
• or a Sabbath day - weekly Sabbaths (or if you wish Sabbath days)"
CHRIST, he goes on to say is the "Substance", these things were shadows.
When this passage is compared with Galatians 4:9 an obvious connection in Paul's teaching is revealed:
"But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? You observe days and months and seasons and years."
Verse 10 flatly states, "you observe...",
• days (weekly Sabbaths, corresponding to "Sabbath days in Col. 2)
• months (new moons, corresponding to "a new moon" in Col. 2)
• seasons (the 7 feasts, corresponding to "festivals" in Col. 2)
• and years (the sabbatical year and the 50th year of Jubilee)
Obviously Paul is clearing speaking about the observances of all Jewish holy day, including the weekly Sabbath. ;)

The following verses are telling me to continue keeping the Sabbath rest.
So feel free to explain to me exactly how you keep the sabbath day and show me from the New Testament where the Church is commanded to keep the sabbath day with all it's rules and regulations.

i need to rest in Jesus continually and without Jesus we can not do anything good in any way but don't make the seventh day sabbath disappear because we rest in Jesus spiritually.
So you need the sabbath day to rest in Christ? Jesus fulfills all the types and shadows. All believers find their rest in Christ. Why are you clinging to the shadow when the substance belongs to Christ?

Don't think i'm trying to work my way to heaven you said we still have moral direction to follow and i agree.
What are you trying to accomplish by keeping the sabbath day and exactly how do you keep it under the new covenant? Please explain.

Heb 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
Heb 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
This rest is a perpetual rest to be enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Lord, in contrast to keeping the weekly sabbath day under the Law.

Amen. The New Day is the Lord's Day. The first and only day. I can't imagine and have never heard of anything more appropriate than a memorial to that be on the first day of the new week.
