ps....do not say in your heat that I have gon off topic by posting on obedience.

It is quite on topic if there are some teaching against the Seventh Day.

Remember Jesus teaches whoever teaches against the least of these laws will be least in the Kingdom....

Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

It is not wrong for Paul to refer to the 10 commandments as the law of sin. That's its purpose. To cause sin to abound. To show sin.

Paul also referred to the 10 commandments as the ministry of death.

In juxtaposition to this law of sin and death you have the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

Does that make the 10 commandments bad? No.

Romans 7:13
Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

The whole point of the 10 commandments is to show our need for a Saviour. But what are we saved from?

We are saved from our carnal understanding and carnal work at a law that can only show the carnal that they can't attain to it.

And then Paul says well what do we do now? If we can't attain to it?

Romans 8:4-7
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Surely the carnal can rest on saturdays. Surely the carnal can abstain from murder. Surely the carnal can abstain from adultery.

In order to be Spiritual and follow the Spirit it must be something other than what a carnal person can do with his carnal understanding and carnal strength.

Romans 9:31-32

31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

They tried to work at the law in their carnal understanding and carnal strength.

Hebrews 7:18-19

18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
It is not a question of if its wrong for him to say that or not. Its a question of what he did say. ANd it is most clear he did not refer in Romans 8 to the 10 commandments as the law of sin as demonstrated by taking all he says into account.

So true... If you want to follow Messiah pick up the word to do it. Just saying that you believe does NOT save. That's like talking the talk but not walking the walk. True belief in Messiah is to submit to the Father's instructions as He still does.

Romans 8:2-4
[FONT=&quot]2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

I suppose you just don't want to see it.

The Law of sin and death is the 10 commandments.

Paul continues to compare the 10 commandments to the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus in verse 3&4.

In verse 3 he explains that the law (of sin and death, the 10 commandments) couldn't make a person righteous or perfect.

In verse 4 he explains that the righteousness of the law of sin and death that can't be attained by carnal people, is attained by people who follow after the Spirit and not carnal works of the law.[/FONT]

The 10 commandments were called the ministry of condemnation and of death by Paul.

We in the New Covenant can trust the life of Christ in us to live godly in this world.

The grace of God "teaches" now in the New Covenant how to deny ungodliness and to live sensibly, righteous and godly in this present age - NOT the law of Moses. Titus 2:11-12

The 10 commandments are called the "letter that kills" and the "ministry of death" - The New Covenant is called the "ministry of the Spirit" that brings Life.

The 10 commandments were called "the ministry of condemnation" - the New Covenant is called "the ministry of righteousness."
This is Christ's righteousness given to us that believe.

2 Corinthians 3:6-9 (NASB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP]
who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]
But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was,

[SUP]8 [/SUP]
how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory?

[SUP]9 [/SUP] For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory.

The law of Moses including the 10 commandments are like an x-ray machine - they show up things that are wrong but the x-ray machine has no power to "fix it".

It just reveals what is wrong. It's the same here for Christ Himself and His life in our new hearts is the only thing that can "fix us" with a transformed live.

Jesus kept the Sabbath,
His disciples did not, but He explained to the Pharisees why His disciples were blameless because He was with them.

Matthew 12:1At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.[SUP] 2 [/SUP]But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.[SUP] 3 [/SUP]But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;[SUP] 4 [/SUP]How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?[SUP] 5 [/SUP]Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?[SUP] 6 [/SUP]But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.[SUP] 7 [/SUP]But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.[SUP]8 [/SUP]For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Do note that Jesus gave 2 examples on how the saints had profaned the sabbath day but were blameless because they were in the Temple, and Jesus pointed out that One greater than the Temple was here... inferring Himself.

Since we have been saved by Jesus Christ.....our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ is in us and is with us always which is why we are blameless for not keeping the sabbath day for He is able to make us stand.

1 Corinthians 6:[SUP]19 [/SUP]What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?[SUP] 20 [/SUP]For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

2 Corinthians 13:[SUP]5 [/SUP]Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

he also celebrated the feast of tabernacles in Jerusalem

if you keep one law, you must keep them all.
Which is why we are not under the law.

Galatians 5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.[SUP] 2 [/SUP]Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.[SUP] 3 [/SUP]For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.[SUP] 4 [/SUP]Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Romans 10:1Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.[SUP] 2 [/SUP]For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.[SUP] 3 [/SUP]For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.[SUP] 4 [/SUP]For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

Romans 3:[SUP]19 [/SUP]Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.[SUP] 20 [/SUP]Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.[SUP] 21 [/SUP]But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;[SUP] 22 [/SUP]Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:[SUP] 23 [/SUP]For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [SUP]24 [/SUP]Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; [SUP]26 [/SUP]To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. [SUP]27 [/SUP]Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Galatians 2:[SUP]16 [/SUP]Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. [SUP]17 [/SUP]But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. [SUP]18 [/SUP]For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. [SUP]19 [/SUP]For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. [SUP]20 [/SUP]I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. [SUP]21 [/SUP]I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Galatians 3:1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?[SUP] 2 [/SUP]This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?[SUP] 3 [/SUP]Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?[SUP] 4 [/SUP]Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?[SUP] 6 [/SUP]Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.[SUP] 10 [/SUP]For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. [SUP]11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. [SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: [SUP]14 [/SUP]That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham....[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. [SUP]23 [/SUP]But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.[SUP] 24 [/SUP]Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. [SUP]25 [/SUP]But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. [SUP]26 [/SUP]For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

So you are not required to keep the law, but to keep the faith in Jesus Christ which is the good fight. By believing in Him as our Saviour, we are saved, and by believing in Him as our Good Shepherd is how He will help us to follow Him.

You do not look to the law in doing the best you can in keeping them by the religious flesh; you look to Jesus Christ to help you to abide in Him & His words in following Him. That is why it is simply written that the just shall live by faith.

We are not identified as His by keeping the works of the law. We are identified as His by our faith in Jesus Christ for help in following Him.

Well said, now watch for those that espouse a "levitical lite" doctrine to remove sections from the law and apply it to the New Covenant, essentially trying to place the new creation back under the old.

I can understand that.

The Law of Moses is really a manifestation of the fruit of Adam eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that was released into the world from Adam's sin.

Paul in Romans 2 talks about this law being in the hearts of the gentiles who do not know God - to the Jews - He gave the law to expound on it. Then Jesus elevated the Law to show that it is not good enough to just not commit adultery - if we have lust in our heart - we have broken the "intent" of the Law.

The law itself is holy as God who put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden said all He created was good.

We were never meant to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ( which is the Law of Moses ). That is for God Himself to do. We were meant to eat from the tree of Life. Notice it is not the "knowledge" of life but life itself that we are to eat from - which is Christ Himself. Jesus said "I am the Life!"

Jesus was the only one who ate from the Law and fulfilled it all - we cannot. Now that the Law has been fulfilled by Him and we are in Christ - we are no longer under it's jurisdiction but under Christ Himself - grace. Romans. 6:14

Yes, yes and yes. Only man complicates the issue.

Jesus Christ teaches all in His Gospel, the only one, we must obey the commandments...and He teaches anyonone teaching against the least of the laws will be least in the Kingdom.

Jesus teaches us how the law is to be handled in the Gospel, howeeer many prefer to be legalists declaring once save we can sit on our hands.

The good sewards make increase on what He giv es them, while the lazy good for nothing buries it in the di4rt. That gift given is faith...........make interest, ok?

Joh 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Joh 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Joh 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Joh 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
Joh 15:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Apparently you ae not familiar with Jesus' teaching in His sermon on the mount, nor are you familiar with how He saved the woaman caught in adultery from being stoned to death according to the law..

Also you are not familiar with what Jesus teaches regarding the law, how it should be exercised with faith, mercy and justice.
how we keep the law is with faith, mercy and justice.

Jesus said to keep all the laws.

MATTHEW 5:19 Whoever

relaxes one of the least

of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven.

Please, do not teach others to relax any of the law of God.

Jesus kept the Sabbath,...he also celebrated the feast of tabernacles in Jerusalem...if you keep one law, you must keep them all.
Jesus of Nazareth was the only one who kept the Law of God perfectly. While on earth and until His crucifixion, He was under the Law. At the same time He elevated the Law to its spiritual level, and then summed up the Law in the two Greatest Commandments. Those commandments can only be obeyed in the power of the Holy Spirit.

TO ALL SABBATARIANS:

1. You are more than welcome to observe the 7th day sabbath as long as you also observe the Lord's Day. If you fail to observe the Lord's Day (the first day of the week for worship and rest) then you are in violation of the Law of Christ, and all your sabbath-keeping will be for nought.

2. Under Christian liberty. Christians can hold any day in esteem if they so choose, but they may not insist that all other Christians do the same. The Jewish feasts, festivals, holy days, new moons, sabbaths were all shadows, but if you prefer shadows over reality, that is your choice.

3. Romans 14:5,6

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Please note the contradiction in #2 as correcting what you had stated about the Lord's Day in #1.

It should be clear that believers are not required to observe the Lord's day either, as they can esteem any day as unto the Lord or not esteem any day as unto the Lord for He is able to make them stand by His righteousness alone.

Psalm 40

[TABLE="align: center"]
[TR]
[TD]King James Bible

1{To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
4Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
9I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
10I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
11Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
12For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
13Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.
14Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
15Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
16Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
17But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

Jesus said to keep all the laws.

MATTHEW 5:19 Whoever

Please, do not teach others to relax any of the law of God.

Keeping the integrity of the Law of Moses is crucial in order for it to do it's work - which is to reveal our need for a Savior. We can water down the Law by saying that only a part of it is for us but not the other parts.

That is why Jesus said "not to teach the least of these commandments". We must keep the Law holy for it's purpose which is to lead us to Christ and in that Law the 10 commandments are given.

The book of Hebrews was written to the Hebrew ethnic background and mindset before the temple was destroyed in 70 AD.

Hebrews 8:8-13 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] For finding fault with them, He says, "BEHOLD, DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL EFFECT A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH;

[SUP]9 [/SUP] NOT LIKE THE COVENANT WHICH I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS ON THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT; FOR THEY DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, AND I DID NOT CARE FOR THEM, SAYS THE LORD.

[SUP]10 [/SUP] "FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

[SUP]11 [/SUP] "AND THEY SHALL NOT TEACH EVERYONE HIS FELLOW CITIZEN, AND EVERYONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, 'KNOW THE LORD,' FOR ALL WILL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST TO THE GREATEST OF THEM.

[SUP]12 [/SUP] "FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR INIQUITIES, AND I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SINS NO MORE."

[SUP]13 [/SUP] When He said, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.

"NOT LIKE" - there are new laws in the New Covenant and they all speak of Christ Himself. The word "law" means principle, rule, instruction"

We live now by the law of love,

We live by law of faith ( the Law of Moses including the 10 commandments is NOT of faith )

The law of liberty in Christ Jesus.

The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus,

The law of Christ Himself.

He told us by His Example, and He told us by His teaching.

Having indicated this, when you think of it, you know which laws are valid by the Holy Spirit, providing He resides in you.

Here is an example, the High Prist mus...etc There are no High Priests other than Jesus Christ.

The Levitical priest muust wash befoe.....etc. We are a race of priests tot he most High God.

If you see your enemy's property on the wayside you must return it to him and if that is not possible you must safeguard it until you are able......... Does not the new person tell you this is good? When reading it, do you say to yourself, "I would do this anyway."

Someone hits you, and instead of an eye for an eye, you know if you have the temper controlled you are to turn the other cheek........It just makes sense. Maybe not to an unbeliever, but if you believe Jesus and keep in mind all He has suffered fro each of us, it is nothing for us to obey this law out of gratitude. You will not be earning anyting towards salvation but God will love you for it even more.

The grace-only do-nothing folks do not understand any of this ev en thought of time one of them will say , I love so I obey the law, yet the tell others to obey is wrong and being under the law. Who, now, is the legalist?

Then there are the ten commandments God, Himself, wrote down, none of which offend the goodness of the nem man orwoman each of us has become, but they offend many here who claim they live in grace. These poor souls are either very deluded or just plain liars......only God knows the hearts of men.

There were 613 laws before Jesus, and He has stisfied all but a few dozen, maybe a little moe. We all know by the Holy Spirit how toconduct ourselves, but none of us who choose to obey as did our Example, Jesus Christ, fear reading the wisdom of the law for we know we live in mercy every day the grace is fresh..

God bless you Dan...

ps....do not say in your heat that I have gon off topic by posting on obedience.

It is quite on topic if there are some teaching against the Seventh Day.

Remember Jesus teaches whoever teaches against the least of these laws will be least in the Kingdom....
so true!

it's all related!

if you do one, you must do them all.

otherwise, we set ourselves up as judges of the law,

rather than keepers of it.
