more ideas about attempting to achieve a blessing from resting on Saturday.

disposable dishes, then no need to wash dishes.

myself, I find washing dishes to be not very restful.
That's what preparation day is for friend. Friday was to gather the mana from Heaven maybe we should do our dishes on Friday.
I have found it to be a great family blessing to do this and other chores together in order to enjoy the rest day of Messiah Yahshua. Don't think either that God will be mocked. Judgment comes not from me but from my Master and he only does what his Father says to him.

Is it not amazing? I forgot the part that the grace folks are hung up on, it is also a Commandment fro our Father.

He does not need command any of His children who love Him for even a hint is a command in the hearts of their love.
How true !!! we love Him so much who has done so much for us - that commandments are no longer necessary ! (maybe that is why Jesus did not stress on them but engraved them on our hearts)

ps, always have been an 'early Riser...up with the Lark usually around 6 am UK time. Sadly dark nights are fast drawing in...hate them .

So many people are just focused on REST only. When God gave that commandment in Ex 20v9 He was talking about resting from our own works/labour. God mentioned nothing about it including 'HIS good works in the future or the 'good works we would learn from Him. Learning would already start in Lev 23 when 'assembling for 'study was commanded !
So don't let us be entirely focused on 'resting for ever' that was never meant to happen. We are being re-created unto 'good works....let's concentrate on those for a change !
Right, we don't rest from good works!

yes, I think it's like the Israelites gathering twice as much manna the day before.

and I like that idea of family togetherness!

In essence this is at least in part a fulfilment of the commandment to teach them to your children, speak of them when you walk by the way... Shalom keep looking up, redemption is closer than ever before

From the light on all given by our Master, Yeshua, it is quite fine to cook on the Sabbath...Do all to the Lord every day, but especially on the Sabbath. Bless that food and it become holy, separate, just for you and all with you....God is good all of the time...He works on the Sabbath, Yes, He does....His works are all good, so let us commit ourselves to good works on the Sabbath and in addition to our l ordinay daily labors, amen.

How does the believer who is in Christ keep the Sabbath spiritually now that we are in Christ?

We rest in Him and His completed work and make no attempt to work our way inter a relationship with God.

What they did in the natural under the Old Covenant of which is a shadow of the real substance which is Christ Himself - what they did in the natural - we do in the spiritual by trusting that Christ's work was sufficient to obtain for us what our self works could not and cannot obtain.

Every day is a Sabbath day of rest for us because we are in Christ. He is the Lord of the Sabbath. Every day is a day of worship for us! Every day is a day of rest for us and it is all because of what our Lord Jesus has obtained for us.

We are in the temple. Those "in the temple" do not break the Old Testament way of keeping the Sabbath.

Have we ever read where Jesus said that the priests who stand in the temple - break the Sabbath which is in the Law?...or that David and his men ate of the bread which was in the temple?

Matthew 12:2-6 (NASB)
[SUP]2 [/SUP]
But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath."

[SUP]3 [/SUP]
But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions,

[SUP]4 [/SUP]
how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone?

[SUP]5 [/SUP] "Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent?

[SUP]6 [/SUP] "But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here.

Why were the priest not breaking the Sabbath law - because they were in the temple. Why did David be able to eat of the bread? Because he was
in the temple.

This is why the true believer in Christ will not be breaking any Sabbath law because we are in the temple. Know you not that you are the temple of God?

Those that are in the temple are not breaking the Sabbath law by doing work because we are in Christ. He is the true temple of God as we are in union with Him and are one in the spirit.

Until we understand the reality of our union with Christ and what that means - we will be resorting to going back to the Law and trying to live by our own flesh and we are exchanging Christ Himself for the law.

You call what God tells us to do laws, but since Jesus Christ has given us the Holy Spirit and they are written on our hearts, we understand exactly what we are to do, and that is to obey God.

With the infilling of the Holy Spirit, and the teaching of Jesus, we follow the yet enduring laws and commandments now as God's wisdom.
Perhaps for the grace-only folks they remain laws because they know nothing of the Example and teaching of the Master, but for those who are of the Holy Spirit the laws and commandments remaining are the wisdom of God, and a joy to understand and practice.

You want me to say I "keep the Sabbath" in some ritualistic manner you have derived from your own undersanding, but I observe the sabbath as a delightful gift from the Father, a teaching and a prophecy that the grace folks just do not seem to understand what with their legalistic view of the wisdom of God enlightened for all by Jesus.

What is difficult about remembering the Sabbath of the Lord and keeping it Holy (separate)?

Peope really want to condemn any who understand the wisdom of God and to obey Him.....

YOu grace folks believe "Paul only" and that by your totally twisting what he wrote to varied congregations, but if you truly understood Paul, you would understand Jesus Christ, for he declares he teaches only Christ's gospel, the only gospel

So many of you say because I believe Jesus on the law that I must practice all 611 laws. Now I ask you, how ridiculous is that proposal, totally since there is no Temple, no Sacrifices, no Israel, no clean laws, etc. You have learned nothing from Jesus, but you have made yourselves lawyers of the Laws according to the writings of Moses...and this should not be.

The very few laws and commandments that remain are the wisdom of our Father, Jesus, but you cannot see through that veil of Moses you have taken upon yourselves.

If I say we are to be obedient children of the most High God, the first things our of your pea-brains is you must obey all 611 laws of Moses, because you have allied yourselves to your own legalism.

Obedient children of God are truly free for they know it is the wisdom of God remamining after Christ fulfilled the law and the prophets.....this is probably overweening you who believe in grace and no obedience. Believe Jesus Christ, but the only manner in which you will ever believe Him is to learn from Him.

What you say is SO TRUE ! but sadly has no bearing on some whatsoever. Refusing to humble themselves and obey the Lord they will never understand Him 1Cor 2v14.

some people do desire to rest on Saturday, though

and there's nothing wrong with that, I think we both agree!

That is pretty much what I have said and o say. Remembering the Seventh Day is very important to me, keeping it separate, this does nto mean some kind os ceremony, it means, to me at least, to remember what it is, and that it is a gift from the Father. If people want to do ceremonious acts, fine, but it is the inherent worth of the gift to me, and all it says.

When God told Adam which tree was not to be eaten and which one was the tree of life, was Adam being a legalist by obeying God? Was Adam earning aproval by obeying?
When God asked for a sacrifice from cain and Abel, did God expect them to listen and obey?
And why did Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not?
It is easy for us to disobey God for various reasons, and He has made a way for us to be forgiven but we should remember that He loves us and by obeying Him we are better off. We may think the laws of love are a burden but that is only your flesh rebelling.
Saturday may look, feel, and seem the same as any other day but the fact is, God said to remember the sabbath and set it aside, it was sanctified. So you can keep it because God said to. Not to gain points or earn salvation but because you trust and love God. Or you can make excuses and think it doesn't matter.
As a child the sabbath was hard but it has become more and more of a delight as i come closer to Jesus. Your missing out on a gift from God if you egnore the sabbath.
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
This verse tells me we'll be keeping it in Heaven.

Right, we don't rest from good works!
If believers are doing good works to earn their salvation, then that is not resting in Him.

Are we doing good works by faith in Him to help us to do it or are we doing good works to exalt ourselves over other believers for not keeping the sabbath day as if by not doing so, they are sinning against the Lord & not abiding in Him?

Keeping the sabbath day to avoid sinning against God is forgetting what Christ has done and why Him being in you, is how you and every other saved believer are blameless for profaning the sabbath day. That is how and why He is Lord of the sabbath. Matthew 12:1-7 is a testimony to that truth on why christians have never been taught to keep the sabbath in any epistle to the churches, let alone not one warning in any of the seven churches in Revelations for profaning the sabbath.

It is considered a work to keep the sabbath day if one does so to avoid sinning and to be identified as a sabbath day keeper. To do so is considered by His word as laboring in unbelief in coming short of that rest in Jesus ( Hebrews 4:1-11 ).

We are all children of God by faith in Jesus Christ ( Galatians 3:26 ), and He is able to make any believer stand for profaning the sabbath ( Romans 14:4-8 ) when it is His righteousness apart from the law Who will bring us all Home. Romans 3:26-28

When our Father shares His wisdom with us, it is only the natural course of our new nature to heed what He has taught.
Once we know Jesus christ has saved us, and has said to us, sin no more, and we understand Him to say no more sin, commandments and laws remaining according to His Gospel, the only one, become our wisdom from the Father.

What is not wise and true about honoring our parents? God through what weak-in-faith people call laws and commandments that remain, and you will find they are no longer laws and commandments but wisdom filled with mercy, justice and faith.

When the tuthe of the commandments in stne are transferred to our hearts, it is joy. How are they joy, you may say. To learn to know and obey ony what is good, is a joy.

It seems Satan really wants to whittle away at the wisdom of our Father beginning with the commandment to keep the seventh day separate and to remember it.

I suppose next he will whittle away at the commandment not to covet,. Oh, right, Satan is already teching a material gospel of automatic wealth for the faithful of those denominations. Coveting is a sad way to live.

Anyway, the commandments, no longer commandments for all who belive Jesus, are wisdom.

All lyou legalistic, do-nothing, grace-only folks out there remember to obey the Fadther is not only our joy, but the due of all. It was disobedience and haughtiness that got Satan thrown out of the heave of our Father. It was disobedienve that forced our Father to tell those of the children of Israel who were so in the wilderness that they would never enter into HIs res.

We are to labor to enter into His rest.........six days a week, and if the good work is on the sabbath, on the Sabbath also.

Get off your podiums and listen to the teaching of Jesus chrsit, and attmpt real hard to put into prctice what you learn from Him. He is our Salvation. He is God, amen.

What really is the true Sabbath day according to the Gregorian calendar?
Does anybody even know where to start counting?
If not, why would we take the time to even discuss the day?
Are not the Sabbaths that are clearly mentioned related directly to the feast days?
Are we not suppose to spiritually observe the feasts mentioned in the Bible?
Does anyone really know how?
Maybe the feasts are where we need to begin counting.
What about that?

The lunar/solar Jewish calendar that is currently in use has been in continuous use with only 2 well documented adjustments since the time of the Exodus. Admittedly it has not always been superimposed on the Gregorian calendar; but we can be reasonably certain that the days of the week on the Gregorian calendar are in proper order.

It really does not matter to the soul if the calendar has the seventh day on any given day on the solar calendar, the seventh day is still in that order.........If it were to result in the seventh day being a Thursday, our Fathe ris not going to chide us for havingit wrong, it is the reverring of God that is important...

I believe the lunar calendar is quite well known and accurate, just as is the solar....there has been a continuas accounting since the calendars were conceived..........

Here is a thought..

How does GOD know we love Him?

How does the Messiah know we love Him?

Father and Son are One so think through what they both have said.

What is GOD's Law that is present in both Covenants? In the Old it was written in stone.. in the New written on our hearts?

Even if you believe the Sabbath is not to be kept in our liberty.. would you make and worship an idol?

Do you covet your neighbours house?

How do we love each other?

When you Love GOD and your neighbour you Keep the law.

That is why everything came down to love.

We were condemned without hope but now we are set free Baptized in the Holy Spirit to love GOD and each other more than ourselves.. just as Christ suffered and paid the price to redeem us with His blood.. undoing the curse we inherited through the flesh..

Only in Spirit can we Love and Keep the Commandments... that is Faith that worketh love.

Walk in the Spirit and let us draw from the True vine.. strive to be found blameless... make not our garments dirty...

Knowing we have reward for believing.. so let us believe unto the saving of our souls.

The "New Moon" still shows up every month according to God's created time. We don't worship the moon such as pagans, but we should observe God's timings that are the same since the beginning. His call, not ours, or Julius Caesar or Pope Gregory. It's amazing that a "new moon" can show up close to the middle of some months according to the calendar we observe today. Something's off, and it ain't God.

Please do not take this as controversial. (smile)

BTW, you know as well as I do that the Hebrew word for "month" and "new moon" are the same word.
