Is sarcasm an effective tool in winning people over to the Lord?

No. Sarcasm is something not understood by mostpeople anyway. It is better to be upfront with others if you try witnessing. Just not a good idea.

The bible does say that foolish talking or jesting is not convenient in Ephesians 5:4. And in Ephesians 4:15 we find explicit instructions how to convey the message: "speaking the truth in love...". And as far as witnessing goes, Isa. 50:4 states that God had to teach Isaiah, "how to speak a word in season to him that is weary...". Again in Isa. chapter six we find Isaiah crying of his uselessness due to his unclean tongue and lips, to which God had to purify that member with a hot coal from off the altar before He could use and send Isaiah to witness to others. With this said, I believe we find an answer concerning the idea of including sarcasm in our witnessing.

On the other hand, perhaps my original question was quite legitimate.

Sarcasm = the absense of humor. I personally think it's boring to listen to someone who uses sarcasm.

I relate better to sarcastic people, so i would listen to someone sharing the gospel to me if they interjected sarcasm or humor in there.

I’m ashamed to admit I used to be sarcastic. I never had a sense of humor, though.

No, here is how Wikipedia defines sarcasm:

Sarcasm is a form of humor that uses sharp, cutting remarks or language intended to mock, wound, or subject to contempt or ridicule, generally saying the opposite of what the statement really is.
