I was given the great conspiracy by my grandfather as to where the note came from in the OP. I have read parts of it dealing with the church history and the Bible being corrupted then the end time stuff gets a little odd.

But yet I left the door open to prove my post wrong. I said quote,“ She may had never directly said it but I found these quotes answering about being called a prophet.

If all of this is true then I could never in good conscience trust her writings regardless of sound advice.”

She either had visions and failed predictions or not.

I have not even got into if her words are Biblically accurate. Because if someone fails the Biblical standards for those with visions or prophecy then I need not to go further in this book.
She did not set the date for the second coming William Miller did. Does it make her a false prophet if she believed or was taught an error? She never claimed to be a prophet.

I asked the question with a poll to see what others had to say on the SDA church and waited before making up my mind on this matter.

I at this time I do not see them as a cult as defined in post #14.

Cult is a group that claims to belong to a specific religion but misrepresents any core teaching that would prevent a believer from being saved according to that religion.

By comparing definitions does the SDA teach doctrines that would prevent a believer from being saved?

(Their view on the Sabbath being a indicator who is saved and who is not, may be exclusive to Sunday worshippers but by believing that belief I do not see that limiting salvation as their is no harm in worshipping on Saturday. It may be annoying for us Sunday worshippers to hear we are not true Christians but so be it.)

Cult definition is - a small religious group that is not part of a larger and more accepted religion and that has beliefs regarded by many people as extreme or dangerous.

(According to this definition the SDA are not considered extreme or dangerous physically so the term cult under this definition may not apply also)

I have seen SDA's say non-SDA's are not saved and that is a huge issue regarding cultish behavior. They also believe Sunday worship is or at least will become the mark of beast which further proves they think non-SDA's are not saved or will loose salvation due to the mark. A further non-biblical doctrine they have is they think Saturday worship/keeping the Sabbath will be outlawed despite this not being found in the bible.

They also teach that the Archangel Michael is Jesus. Does that make their Jesus just as false as the Jesus Jehovah Witnesses believe in?

Not sure what there is to explain. Her full name adds up to 666.
If Ellen White is the beast then the whole world will have to follow her and she is in charge when Jesus comes a second time... Opps... too late she's dead.

actually, her influence and writings are the reason this group is often referenced as a cult

that is exactly how a prophet would describe themself

seems she might have been playing word games....saying she was not a prophet on one hand and then behaving in the office of a prophet and having people hang on her words
So here is a portion of the SDA book my grandfather in law gave me. What do you think it is saying?

“The work of judgment which began in 1844, must continue until the cases of all are decided, both of the living and the dead hence it will extend to the close of human probation That men may be prepared to stand in the Judgment,
the message commands them to "fear God, and give glory to Him," "and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." The sult of an acceptance of these messages is given in the words, "Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." In order to be prepared for the Judgment, it is necessary that men should keep the law of God. That law will be the standard of character in the Judgment. The apostle Paul declares. "As many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ." And he says that "the doers of the law shall be justified." Romans 2:12, 13, 16. Faith is essential in order to keep the law of God; for "without faith it is impossible to please Him." Hebrews 11:6. And "whatsoever is not of faith is sin." Romans 14:23.

Romanists declare that "the observance of Sun day by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the (Catholic) Church." Mgr. Segur, Plain Talk About the Prot estantism of Today, page 213.

The enforcement of Sundaykeeping on the part of Protestant churches is an enforcement of the worship of the papacy of the beast. Those who, understanding the claims of the fourth commandment, choose to observe the false in stead of the true Sabbath; are thereby paying homage to that power by which alone it is commanded. But in the very act of enforcing a religious duty by secular power, the churches would themselves form an image 449 to the beast; hence the enforcement of Sundaykeeping in the United States would be an enforcement of the worship of the beast and his image.

But Christians of past generations observed the Sunday, supposing that in so doing they were keeping the Bible Sabbath, and there are now true Christians in every church, not excepting the Roman Catholic com munion, who honestly believe that Sunday is the Sabbath of divine appointment. God accepts their since of purpose and their integrity before Him. But whe Sunday observance shall be enforced by law, and the world shall be enlightened concerning the obligation of the true Sabbath, then whoever shall transgress the command of God, to obey a precept which has no h authority than that of Rome, will thereby honor popery above God. He is paying homage to Rome, and to the power which enforces the institution ordained by Home He is worshipping the beast and his image.

As men the reject the institution which God has declared to be the sign of His authority, and honor in its stead that whics Rome has chosen as the token of her supremacy, they will thereby accept the sign of allegiance to Rome "the mark of the beast." And it is not until the issues thus plainly set before the people, and they are brough to choose between the commandments of God and the commandments of men, that those who continue transgression will receive "the mark of the beast"

The bible says there are Antichrist's plural which means foreshadows of the final Antichrist. She could have had an Antichrist spirit and many believe she was a false prophet...

W is not a letter in the Roman numeral system. Saying W equals 2 V's is complete nonsense. The Beast is the one who issues the mark, not some dead lady from another century. FYI - this does not lend at all to your credibility. It's also dishonest.

She did not set the date for the second coming William Miller did. Does it make her a false prophet if she believed or was taught an error? She never claimed to be a prophet.
She did not set the date and I was not speaking of Miller as I was referencing the quote

On June 27, 1850, Mrs. White wrote that only a few months remained for the people to get ready: "My accompanying angel said, 'Time is almost finished. Get ready, get ready, get ready.' . . . now time is almost finished. . . and what we have been years learning, they will have to learn in a few months."

Time was to be finished in a few months of 1850.

She may had never directly said it but I found these quotes answering about being called a prophet.

My work includes much more than this name signifies. I regard myself as a messenger, entrusted by the Lord with messages for His people. —Letter 55, 1905, Selected Messages, book 1, pp. 32, 35, 36.

I am now instructed that I am not to be hindered in my work by those who engage in suppositions regarding its nature, whose minds are struggling with so many intricate problems connected with the supposed work of a prophet. My commission embraces the work of a prophet, but it does not end there. It embraces much more than the minds of those who have been sowing the seeds of unbelief can comprehend. —Letter 244, 1906. Addressed to elders of the Battle Creek church; See Selected Messages, book 1, pp. 34-36.

She claimed to be more than a prophet. Regardless the Church has viewed her as their prophet.

People have said she had 2000 visions iincluding visions of the end of the world. Visions are one of the gifts of a Biblical prophet except even for the Biblical prophet, they were rare in number.

Not at all. We see Paul debating fiercely with the religious people of his day including correcting Peter at one point. Then we find in Acts 15 the apostles in sharp dispute over theology. It is to protect the gospel from heresy and false teachings. It is in many ways just a internal attack of Satan to deceive people. Of course, you will see spiritual warfare between churches as Satan tries to destroy what God has designed.
