Never in my life have I heard so many till lately say the church should have
signs and wonders like the early church.

I will contend that there will not be, there hasnt been, and there isnt now,
and that its not only just alot of talk but that it gets peoples hopes up then lets them
down. This has nothing to do with the power of God that has providentially
worked throughout history nor in answered prayer. Before I make up a paper
and start a new thread id like to gather peoples ideas on this with some questions:

1 What makes you think the signs and wonders like the early church had should be going
on now?...please dont quip nonsense like God doesnt change,,Jesus is the same y...stuff
God is not a respecter of persons, or stuff like that. But be honest.

2 Do you even know how much and to what extent signs and wonders were done in the early church?

3 Do you think all believers did signs and wonders?

4 What purpose would there be in signs and wonders?

5 why do you think so many millions today are running after signs and wonders?

to answer these questions. There may be a dozen cookies for the best answer.. :)

The church has no need of new prophets and apostles today. It simply needs to listen more carefully to the old (and authentic) ones. I'm hoping to see a few answer attempts as well :)

Signs and wonder have been going on all along. Maybe you can find another church. I've heard of signs and wonders going on all my life.

There are signs that makes me wonder. Seeing a person set free from addictions, a person evil become like a lamb and loving. These are the signs that make me wonder. One thing is certain, nothings impossible with God, He does as He wills. There is a scripture that sums it up for me, "let it be done according to your faith" with God nothing is impossible. I know you said those scripture too cheesy not to be used lol
Comes done to what you believe let it be so.
One thing is certain, we are to encourage faith

Oh no doubt there is the healing power of the gospel and the regeneration of the Holyspirit. And the Lord does things to people to make himself known.
But today its a circus show. Im really trying to find out why its drawing them. You didnt come for me but for the fish and the bread.

1. Because the bible isn't enough for us to base our faith on. We need signs and wonders because God should PROVE his existence.

2. I think it was just just because Jesus and the apostles could. No reason to be honest. Certainly wasnt to make others believe.

3. No, but I think any believer can. There is no scripture to back that up, but I have faith ANY Christian can.

4. You mean the purpose today? Well, Christianity back in the first century is EXACLTY the same as it is today. With the exception of the fact that the written record of the bible was not complete yet. OH!!! Do ya think that MAYBE just MAYBE all those gifts were given to certain peopel because they didnt HAVE the bible to prove the word of God??? NAHHHHHHH. That couldnt be it.

5. Because I like to SHOW people I am faithful by healing, speaking in tongues, and performing miracles. Christianity is all about show and very little to do with ones personal relationship with God.

In conclusion, the Bible is a great book, but without modern day signs and wonders I have little faith. The bibile just isn't enough.

I will SERIOUSLY admit that after today at work I DO believe that small children can be demonically possessed, and Satan slapped their parents with a stupid stick.

MY dad used to say that he was a prophet of Jesus, then he said that Jesus told him that my sister and I should be sacrificed.

On a side note did you know that Vanderbilt MEdical Center in NAshville Tennessee has a GREAT psych ward?
