ok silly question time again.. lol.. There is a verse that says if you're a lukewarm christian, he will spew you out of his mouth. Does that mean that lukewarm christians don't go to heaven? :(

Does anybody have an answer to my question?

Christians have eternal life, so I'd argue that lukewarm Christians aren't Christians at all.

By lukewarm, I mean people who ARE christian, but who might feel like their not doing enough for God, like not praying or reading the bible often, or not doing 100% of what they could do for God, especially if they are disabled or house-bound, like myself. I come on here and post bible verses, and share my personal struggles to encourage others going through the same, but I just feel like I could be doing so much more for God.. Posting verses and encouragement doesn't seem like it's enough to do for Him, but being almost entirely house-bound, what else can I do for him so I don't feel like an awful christian?

Blue, believe it or not, there was a discussion recently on this very topic in the BDF! Some were saying that cold represented the law and hot represented Grace and the luke warms were those that mixed the two. Gee, it sounded better when other people explained it

i think the cold is more like just doing the bare minimum for God. And the hot is doing everything and anything you can for him. What about the ones sort of stuck in the middle, like me?

This was part of the address that Jesus spoke through John to the Church at Laodicea in Revelation 3:14-22. This in the only one of the seven Churches that still existed in Asia Minor when John received this revelation to whom Jesus had nothing good to say. There is not even any mention of a faithful remnant among them. At least at Sardis, there were still a few who had not soiled their garments. Not at Laodicea. For this Church, Jesus reserves his harshest criticism.

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. ‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. ‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. ‘He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. Blue, you love Him, God judges the heart, for out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. I think you may be being too hard on yourself. You are doing what you can, are you not?

Yes, I am doing what I'm able to. It just doesn't feel like it's good enough though. There MUST be more I can do other than posting bible verses and praying for others and sharing my stories..

LORD God in heaven, I lift up my sister blue_ladybug to you, and earnestly beseech you to help her see that none of us are worthy, none of us are good enough, and we thank you God that You sent Your Son, your only begotten Son, as a ransom for many, for He alone is worthy, God, we know we are wretched sinners in need of Your constant ever lasting merciful Grace, praise be to You God that you took upon Yourself the burden we alone cannot bear, and we ask you Lord to help us all understand that there is nothing to be added and nothing we can take away from what You have already done, and I especially ask that you grant blue_ladybug peace in knowing that she is blessed to rest in Your works, LORD, and need not stress about what more she need do, in Jesus name I pray, amen.

That's what I love about living in the country, it's nice and quiet except for the noise we create ourselves. Lol
If it were to be enough space where it's just my family and me then I'd be okay. The suburbs where there are still neighbors around, therefore more prone to be the gossip among them I'd still be uncomfortable.

There is of course downsides to country living like a wild animal coming in the house, true story. Lol. Right now since it is all dry and farmers plowing up the land it gets really dusty very quickly which causes problems with allergies and asthma, but I love it so very much

Lady Blue, God is saying that He wants us to be honest with Him. Be hot or cold, say what we mean, and mean what we say. God would rather we boldly tell Him we are COLD and need Him to reignite the fire in our hearts by His Holy Spirit. He wants us to come to Him when we're cold and weak and tempted so He can restore us. He wants us to share our hearts with Him when we are angry or afraid or doubtful or weak or unforgiving. God can work with cold.

Or we can be HOT! Exhibiting a desire to love God and others. Energized by the Holy Spirit and abounding in the joy of the Lord and the faith of Jesus Christ. It is God working in us to do His will and purpose. God can work with hot.

Lukewarm is having no heart or zeal for God or love for others. They go through the motions of works and services, proclaiming to everyone how holy and wise in spirit they are. They think quoting scripture and abstaining from the flesh is enough to get them into heaven. You can tell them by their excessive scripture quoting and little show of love and compassion. They rarely admit when they are in error, or they will justify it. They have no fire of love burning in their heart (neither HOT) and they refuse to admit when they are wrong, weak & tempted (nor COLD).

God can't work with lukewarm, therefore He spits it out.

We all go thru periods of cold and hot, that's normal. We are growing. But we can't grow when we won't admit we have no need to be corrected or restored.
