You made me think of my " for the man". Back then you could lie about your age and get a job.
It was a pizza parlor, brand new and the guy had just opened up.
About 1966 and that gorgeous waitress I went bonkers for.
I was way way younger ,just a baby, and what a let down when I saw her boyfriend. I stared out onto the dining area where he twirled her around like a movie star to the juke box.
My spirit died that day .
But I recovered lol
"I stared out onto the dining area where he twirled her around like a movie star to the juke box."

That sounds like the start of a great novel :giggle::unsure:(y)

Thanks for sharing a nostalgic youth/job memory, Absolutely :)

Ugh, my KFC boss was a married man who obviously thought little of his vows :(

It reminds me of one of one of @seoulsearch 's threads, but ya know what?

My youth was a nightmare in that regard and I really don't like talking about it.

Suffice to say, experiences like that did go a fair distance to turning me off the idea
of marriage, since the risk of ending up with "a guy like that" seemed too great
:oops::censored::cry:

Thus I became somewhat of an independent, and known as somewhat
of a free spirt, but really I just had a lot of baggage I kept hidden away
:devilish:

@Magenta you are one of the sweetest YOUNG ladies I know on here ;)

We all have baggage to some degree... but there is nothing wrong with being an independent woman who wants to feel free and live that way! some women function better that way actually and there is nothing wrong with that. I just wanted you to know you have blessed me in so many ways... and I am so happy and thankful for the Godly woman you are today. ❤️

Me toooooo... I was up until midnight then up again before four having my morning cuppa :D

But I have just gone back to bed fixin' ta have a nap :)

I will watch a bit of something on Netflix first ;)

Oh! @Ruby123 have you seen Penguin Bloom? Such a sweet movie
No I haven't seen that movie yet, but I have had experience with magpies. They are everywhere here. They are easy enough to tame and you can feed them and pick them up if they trust you. That's easily done through food. I had two that would visit me every day and eat my cats biscuits that I left outside for her. She did not appreciate that and would chase them. They also used to sit on her cat bed and make themselves quite comfortable. I think they thought they were cats lol. They are quite tame but they will swoop at you during their nesting times. That can be a little unnerving. The news will always warn us when it is that season.

When I would go for my evening walks during their season I would have to wear sunglasses and a cap because when they swoop, people have had their eyes injured.

Ain’t exactly knowing what I’ve to add to the conversation goin’ on here, but that don’t make no matter. I’m just adding my 2 cents anyway lol.

Oh, and as for my 2cents, I’m just right now watching a movie, don’t know the name of it, and I’m just too lazy mashing the button on my clicker that would make me know, but it’s real old and it’s with Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn being chased by some corrupted FBI officers... aww...looks like love is all around now🤗😂

I have had a few bosses like that too. My first job I had when I left school was in a bank. The bank manager there was very sleazy. I remember we had a christmas celebration function at the big horse racing place. Partners/spouses were invited too. He invited his wife and after we all ate there was music and dancing. He came over to me and asked me to dance. Well I was so embarrassed. I really didn't know what to do or what to say. Everybody used to bow down to him and how do you say no? I somehow declined, I can't even remember what I said (it was long ago) so he grabbed my arm anyway. Aghhh, just horrible and an absolute nightmare.

Aww, thank you, Lil Bit :) Ah, yes, freedom! :) Well, the funny thing is, that people saw me as quite independent, but I was co-dependent also, and not in the healthy way LOL. It has always been quite a mix for me, desiring freedom and security within a relationship all at the same time... wanting intimacy without even really knowing what that entailed in my youth, being very open and even reckless and trying to be carefree :giggle: It caused some conflict, and a fair amount of emotional turmoil, attaching to and then detaching from people.

. I sometimes wonder how much my being a middle child with ten siblings has to do with that, growing up in a fairly strict religious home that was very well organized and held to regular/recognizable schedules, but also chaotic in some ways, and always so many people around... I did take to my room a lot, being a lover of books. (I got my first room-to-myself when I turned 13 :D), but I do have a lo of very fond childhood memories.

. Also, it was the very early seventies, so the sexual revolution was in full swing, and as I sought my independence as a teen, I rebelled pretty hard and was seduced by the deceptive glamor of the drug culture, which, wow, there really is none, but it all looked good to me back then, and I got caught right up in it for many years. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll was the mantra  I laugh to write that, though it really is not that funny when I see the damage such thinking is still doing to/in our society, and honestly, it is a wonder I survived all that, and often express my gratitude to God for allowing me to survive the stupidity of my youth :D

You are such a sweet heart and doing the number one most important job any human being could ever undertake. My mother raised eleven children but I could not even raise one, so I am doubly blessed that my daughter loves me despite my many failings :):D:)

@Magenta it is easy enough to get them to this stage. They are a friendly bird and seem to enjoy mixing with people. I call them the cats of the bird world.

Sorry, had to laugh. Where and do these guys get off thinking and behaving like that?

And yeah, @Ruby123 used a good word there: sleazy :p

See, Lil Bit? Your job of raising considerate respectful young gentlemen is very important!!! :D

My power went down before 3 AM last night and has yet to return - as of now, I am about 20 hours into it...
Tuesday at 8:10 PM
Oh - BTW - power back on middle of last night (down ~26 hours?) - water off now since mid-to-late afternoon...
Wednesday at 7:13 PM
As of now - no water yet. Using melted snow for flushing the toilet and bottled water for everything else.
Wednesday at 10:09 PM
A good hot shower in the morning would be wonderful! :)
(Did not happen - "Oh, well...")

Friday (now):

Water! :) (y)  :giggle:

Pressure building; not up to full yet.

Able to flush the toilet and wash hands under a steady flow from the sink faucet.

A shower later tonight if possible; otherwise, in the morning.

"Thank You Lord!!!"

Awwww, so sweet  I love stories like that :D Animals are soooo amazing :D:):D

Penguin Bloom ~ such a weird name for a movie, ha, but it was based on a true life story; the
family's last name was Bloom, and they named the Magpie Penguin cuz it was black and white :giggle:

Naomi Watts played the lead/mom/paraplegic. Eh, I thought maybe she was Aussie but she is British :D

I have always really liked her as an actress :):D:)

PS: Magpies also played a role in Wentworth ;)

I know animals can be better than humans. More loving, faithful and sincere.
I have not watched that movie. I dont like to watch anything sad as I can become too emotional lol. I saw the preview for it and it looked good but from what I gathered it was about her struggles. I like suspense movies, escape from jail type movies.

It really was a lovely movie, very sweet and touching but quite humorous, too...

Heh, though I an easily amused ;):giggle: Still, despite the subject matter of her struggle coming to terms with accepting her loss of mobility, it was a really good movie, even though somewhat slow paced, but that was not a detraction, as the story steadily moved forward and ultimately had a positive message. Some slow paced movies are toooooo slow to get to the point LOL. I cannot watch them hee hee :geek::cool: And western, coastal Australia looked beautiful :D Are you anywhere near where it was filmed?

That is in Sydney. I am the other end, Western Australia but we have beautiful beaches too esp up north where they are untouched and unpopulated. Hopefully this link will take you to some pics of Broome Western Australia. I dont live in Broome but it is a popular tourist spot.

I thought it was filmed in western Australia? Let me check... Ah! It was northern Australia, filmed in the actual family home in Newport and also Palm Beach, Avalon beach (which is part of the Northern Beaches), and also at Bilgola Beach :)
