I actually spent a whole hour thinking of my avatar name, unable to come up with anything. Eventually I gave up and just put "River, a name." River is not my real name but it's close enough lol.
Not a very cool reasoning to share but,, why not
Isaiah 66:12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon [her] sides, and be dandled upon [her] knees.

There you go! You have peace like a river!:)

I thought about calling myself "suck"o_O:ROFL:

If I remember correctly, someone started a thread dedicated to the meaning of user names.
yeah, I remember that a while ago......
but who wants to try and find it again?
 why do I have a feeling that the link is going to show up here or on the main page soon?

I have an idea, maybe y'all wanna participate. Share what your avatar name means or where it comes from.
Mine Black powder duelist, is about my hobby for old musket types of fire arms, duelist is about me against me, kind of a new man vs the old man senario.
Godsgirl......... cuz I belong to Him
83...... cuz that's when He sent me here (to this world).

I started to sign on here one day but forgot to put in the website info, so ended up typing Godsgirl83 into google........
accidently found out the names used elsewhere.... none of them are me......... then found out there's songs and catchy "Christian slogans" with the phrase "Godsgirl"....... even had someone ask if I was on another site x number of yearts ago b/c they were talking to someone with the same/similar name.
I didn't know all that when I picked the name ;)

current avatar (female silhouette holding a sword with quote "When I wanted to give up God told me to get up" )...........
cuz I've been to that point of wanting to give up and having the Lord tell me (time and time again) "Get up!"...... I like having that reminder there, I see it everytime I'm logged on and it serves as a reminder everyday to keep going ( no matter which situation )

A 'forum' is a collection of threads on a common theme.

A 'thread' is a collection of posts on a common topic.

The word 'room' doesn't really "properly" apply to the forums area/part of the site; albeit, in abstract, it is about as good as anything else that represents a "virtual digital space" on the internet.

On this site, it is normally used in association with the "live chat" (audio/video) part of the site.

Hope this helps - or, at least, makes sense...
Where is this live chat audio thing?

So as we wait for this cyclone to pass through (it is very, very windy outside but electricity is still on) there has been nothing on TV as usual so I have been going a bit you tube crazy. I thought that this was really good.

I like having a last name that starts with 'A'. I am at the top of every list!:geek:
ah i'm a Z

always at the bottom & the back of the room, ha!

however i am still grateful: God blessed me to be tall and gave me keen eyesight & hearing, so i can see and hear from that seat all the way in the last row, and it does make it easy to find me in a list, just like you! :geek:

mine's essentially from here ((and other passages that relate the same concept)) --

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new!
(2 Corinthians 5:14-17)

and a kind of wordplay on 'posthumous' because of passages like this one for example --

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
(Colossians 3:2-3)
.. which is also the thought behind the avatar i use :)
that's me, having died, yet living, more than the human i once was ((a-la John 11:25-26, e.g.))

i've gotten better at explaining it lol
it comes up relatively often that someone pokes at me for having a skeletal avatar on a Christian forum. people say, oh that's all about death you should change it it offends. but goodness, read your Bible, it's all about death, and salvation from it - about a Life in Christ Who transcends death, overcoming and destroying it ;)

i love it

swordfighting is a hobby of mine -- it's Biblical ;)

if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one
(Luke 22:36)
and a sword isn't much use if we're not able and ready to wield it

Well, seeing how I'm a "W", I'm probably the guy sitting directly in front of you. I'm rather tall myself (6' 1 1/2"), so you might need to lean to one side to see past me.

Years back, I had to appear in court because somebody pressed totally fake charges against me. There were 27 cases heard before the judge that day, and I was the last to be heard because they tried the cases in alphabetical order based upon the defendants' last names.

The bad news is that I had to sit in court all day.

The good news (for me, anyway) is that I was the only defendant who was found innocent that day.

i was picked for a jury duty pool once. kind of excited about it; i wanted to do it.

so i show up at the appointed day, and they went through the list of potential jurors alphabetically, letting the two lawyers accept or object to them, until they got the number they needed.

obviously being last in line, they were done way before they got to me :p

I just did jury duty a few months ago.

I was initially chosen as the 13th juror or as the first alternate juror.

As it turned out, one of the jurors didn't show the day of the trial, and I had to fill in.

I was the only objector to the overall vote, but we needed to stay until we came to a unanimous decision.

After saying what I needed to say to the other jurors, I finally had to cave in to their decision.

radar says rain and cool all day here, 48 years ago we had a blizzard with 40 mph winds. With rain there is nothing to scoop.
