I guess being concerned makes me a troll.
oh well, go back to your coffee and doughnut social club.
After all, just about every church I've been to recently has that too.
Hey.
You're definitely not a troll for being concerned.
It seems to me that you were thinking that a thread entitled "Speak Your Mind" would be the ideal place to "Speak Your Mind", but my own time spent on this website, of which I'm presently in my third phase, has caused me to believe otherwise.
There are many members here who basically disdain all of the bickering and infighting which pretty regularly transpires in the BDF and elsewhere (it's definitely not limited to that particular forum), and this thread has sort of devolved into a "safe haven" of sorts or into the sort of "Breakfast Club" that you seemingly described where people just interact socially over coffee and donuts. I'm not criticizing those who come here for that purpose, but for those of us who come to this website looking for more, this particular thread really isn't the place to find it.
You could venture into the BDF or other forums, but as tourist suggested, you might want to strap on your flak jacket first.
Personally, I've reached the point where my only real interaction with people here is done privately. Oh, I still publicly comment, but that's sort of a fishing expedition. In other words, on the rare occasions when I encounter someone who is likeminded or who is at least seemingly willing to engage in civil discussion on any particular topic or subject, I seek to interact with them privately, apart from all of what I would call "background noise" or the comments of those who seem to thrive on nothing but strife and contention.
Whatever you do, don't be totally discouraged.
In my estimation, this website itself is one of the best in that people here are given a lot of freedom or liberty to express their ideas without a lot of interference from administrators or moderators (although there are definitely times when they rightfully should interfere and/or moderate). At the same time, however, it does oftentimes leave a lot to be desired by its participating members. If you make a few friends here or encounter a few people that you consider true brothers and sisters in the Lord, then count yourself as being fortunate and blessed. As the old expression goes, "Not all that glitters is gold".
Just my two cents worth...and I'll now show myself out the door.
Oh, one more thing...
To answer your question, this is what Jesus said about his family:
Matthew chapter 12
[
46] While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
[
47] Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
[
48] But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
[
49] And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
[
50] For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
