Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Nobody muzzles God. He still speaks today. He is not trapped in the pages of your Bible with no way to get out.

Don't let the prosperity preachers and false apostles make you throw out the concept of spiritual gifts. There were a ton of false preachers and false gifts in Paul's day, but he didn't muzzle God because of it.

but a controversy arrives in my mind...

If you're open minded then you'll read the study I linked to as you obviously are quite ignorant when it comes to dealing with the gifts of the Holy Spirit as listed in 1Cor 12v7-11, especially the gift of tongues!

If you're not open minded, then you'll just keep on slagging off the gifts of the Holy Spirit from an unbelieving attitude!

brother and sisters...

gifts are without repentance... and they fall on the wheat and the tare.

so if you claim speaking in tongues is proof of being born again... or being holy spirit filled... then i am afraid you are mistaken by god's own holy word.

for god himself states... gifts are without repentance.

much love and god bless you all.

romans 11:29
[SUP]29 [/SUP]For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

THE 9 GIFTS THAT ARE WITHOUT REPENTANCE
...
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
[SUP]9 [/SUP]To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
[SUP]10 [/SUP]To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

definition of repentance... 1. The act or process of repenting. 2. Remorse or contrition for past conduct or sin...

now add the word without to it... 1. without the act or process of repenting. 2. without remorse or contrition for past conduct or sin...

[SUP]24 [/SUP]Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
[SUP]25 [/SUP]But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
[SUP]28 [/SUP]He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
[SUP]29 [/SUP]But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
[SUP]30 [/SUP]Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Friend, I followed Acts 2:38 as per Peter's instructions. I had repented. I then found a church that would baptize me full immersion, and in Jesus name. After I was baptize, I could not fill myself with the Holy Spirit (as seen in the book of Acts), I tarried with faith that God would fulfill His promise (Acts 2:39).

For the record, we should state that there is more to the empowerment by the Holy ghost than just the gifts. I think that is where Pentecostal, Full gospel, and Spirit Filled denominations get sideways, they begin to identify to much with the Gifts and not the Gifts giver.

That is where error, confusion and division start to occur.

That word repentance is meaning that God dosent take back not he gives gifts to the unrepentant. I dont have my concordance on me im replying from my phone but heres a commentary that speaks about that scripture Romans 11:29 Commentary - John Gill's Exposition of the Bible

On Feb 9, 2014, Charles Sullivan tweeted:
The tongues of Corinth must be assumed foreign languages. This aligns with the ancient records. Ecstasy is found in later English traditions.

We will not find anywhere in the Bible where anyone was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost. In every baptism that an actual baptism was taking place, they were all done in Jesus name.

In Matthew 28;19 Jesus was telling them what to do ... not what to say. Unfortunately however, today most do not follow the prescribed formula for water baptism. Let me qualify that statement, if I told my son to go to the store and buy groceries, and he so tells the clerk "I want to buy groceries" - then he is only repeating what I told him to do. The apostles, on the other hand, have gone out and fulfilled the command, whereas today's church only repeats the command.

A Biblical baptism is exactly how peter described it, full immersion (The word for baptize is baptizo, meaning to dip, plunge, submerge), and in Jesus name, the only name by which we are saved.

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Yes, I went to a church with tongues a few times. I got nothing out of it and the tongues felt fake and almost cultlike. I cant attend a church that makes me feel that way. Maybe Im trying to save people from fallen into this stuff?

maybe, you are: but I would say - it's just not what you do, it's how you do it

You can speak truth, and kill someone = the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life

I know, I have seen the same - but we can't let scarecrows - steer us clear of the Holy Spirit - as revealed in the scripture - the power for living the Christian life

More oneness pentecostal excuses on why Jesus wants you to baptize in his name. He said I the name of the father son and spirit. The apostles baptized in his authority. I guess you don't believe in the trinity. Modelist heresy

[h=3]1 Corinthians 14:38-40[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)

[SUP]38 [/SUP]But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.[SUP][a][/SUP]
[SUP]39 [/SUP]Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. [SUP]40 [/SUP]Let all things be done decently and in order.

I received this gift while I was during a service in non charismatic after receiving commune. I was seeking a deeper walk with the Lord and have fond this gift indispensable in my prayer time and devotional life. Let us remember the problem in the Corinthian church was not that they spoke in tongues, but they were doing so too much!!! All have to say to the Protestants that say that this gift has ceased. Your belief based more on the tradition from the ancient Catholic and Orthodox churches you hate so much basing their beliefs on tradition instead of scripture. The one scripture they always quote at the end of Revelation to defend their belief is not compelling to me when the issue is addressed in Mark as a sign of believers, a sign of the gift of spirit through out Acts, and Paul's writings.
As far as the baptism of the Holy Spirit there is a pattern of established throughout acts of the gift of the spirit being received and salvation as separate incidents. In Luke Christ opens their minds to the Scriptures and in John he breathes on them and tells them to "Receive the Holy Spirit." Yet he tells them to wait in Jerusalem until they have received the "gift of the spirit." We see in history that confirmation as the continuation "confirm the believer has received the faith through the Holy Spirit. Just a few thoughts.

I didnt say anything about any oneness stuff, that is something you said. All I said is that all baptisms were done in Jesus name. And, if you have some scripture that says they baptized in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, ... then produce it. But good luck, it does not exist.

And, yes they baptized in the athority of Jesus, but they also baptized in Jesus name.

God bless!
