In many of my conversations with fellow brothers and sisters, I have very seldom heard someone describe Heaven with enthusiasm. When probing a little further I was a little shocked to hear how many people actually believe that in Heaven one day we will be floating around on clouds playing the harp, and to be honest, if this was my opinion and view of our eternal home, I would not be too keen to go either. I was wondering if we could spend some time perhaps discussing this issue? I often find myself day dreaming of Heaven, trying to imagine what it is going to be like, and I am looking forward to going! What do you think Heaven will be like?

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

The Bible says that heaven is God's throne: "Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne"... What this means to me is that whenever God is on the throne, so to speak, in the heart of a person, heaven may be in view. Nathaniel, once he was converted, was able to see heaven open (John 1:51) I think any true believer suddenly is able to see heaven open in that sense. They are suddenly able to see and understand the things of God. Matthew 24 says that the true believers are gathered from one end of heaven to the other. This seems to indicate that the true believers themselves are called heaven.

Many people think heaven will be a physical place. Like you said floating in the clouds, or on a new physical earth where you can fly, pet once savage beasts, walk on water, and never get hurt. Physical bodies get hurt, they grow old, they hunger and thirst. The reason we shall not be scorched by any heat, or never hunger or thirst again, is because we will no longer be in a physical body.

The new earth is hell. Think about it- what is earth now? It is partial separation from God- this is not heaven. But the new earth will be complete separation from God. The Bible says we will dwell with God forever more- that means we will not float back and forth from the new heaven to the new earth. Revelation says the new earth will not have any sea. What supports physical life on this planet? Water. What do those in hell fire want more than anything? Water. So if you take christians away from the earth, and you take away water, what do you have? Hell.

What will heaven be like? We only know in part- like we will recognize each other by our good works that we did on the earth, and we will no longer be physical. But, as the Bible says, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind can conceive what God has prepared for those who love Him." Paul said he knew a man about 14 years earlier who visited paradise. Even this man has not seen, nor could his mind comprehend what God has in store for us. But whatever it is, it will be grand, far above our imagination, and it definitely will be better than the only alternative (hell).

My delight is to be reunited with my Creator and our Lord and Saviour.

i can not imagine what it is like because it is who I'm with that matters first and foremost.

if GOD was somewhere unpleasant I would go there to be with Him forever.

Please consider these scriptures:
We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies.
2 Corinthians 5:2*-‬3

Just as Jesus' physical body rose, so shall ours when He comes back, as glorified bodies, Jesus is the firstfruits of this.

But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.
2 Peter 3:13

Heaven is not our final destination, the new earth is.

God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.
Matthew 5:5

What a wonderful promise! The earth shall be ours in its restored state before Adam sinned.

One notable characteristic of heaven, I believe, is that there is no fear in heaven. We will have all repented of our sin, so there will be nothing to fear. We will have complete trust in the Lord.

I have listened to this minister a few times in the past and have seen her in person as well and what I get out of her messages - is how the people interacted with each other in heaven and how they are just "being themselves in the Lord."

I don't always agree with her doctrines in some areas but the heart of what is going on in heaven - totally gets a witness in my spirit.

It is difficult of dream of heaven when our frame of reference here on earth limits us so. We just can't imagine.

So, what has more meaning for me is the release of our suffering bodies as we age. The release from things that make us heavy in spirit. The wonderful freedom and lightness of being that we will have. I will have a new mouth (free from having to wear a prosthetic). Others will have limbs they have lost. It will be a glorious moment, and I can't even imagine the beautiful music we will hear. I want to hear the angels sing.

It will be nice to see Jesus in the (flesh), and look into His eyes and be held - but Jesus is with me now in so many wonderful ways. I see Him in those around me who live and abide in Him. In their eyes. And in their hugs.

A simple statement: I do not believe the Bible ever intended for us to make some kind of doctrine about "Heaven" being a particular location — a "place" of jewels and gold streets to which we will be transported to live in a "mansion" full of 'many rooms.'

You are so wrong about heaven. It is a physical location and God's throne as well

Hi breno, I agree with your post, by faith Abraham was looking for a city whose architect and builder is God. Gospel music writers sing about when we leave here we're; 'jus' goin' over Canaan land to see our Saviour there.' Paradise lost - Paradise found.

"By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise; 10) for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God."

13) "All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. 14) For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own."

15) "And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16) "But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them."
Hebrews 11:9-13

Out on the hills of glory land
So happy and free at God's right hand
They tell of a place of marvelous grace
On heaven's bright shore
Pilgrims on earth someday will go
To live in that home forever more
Trusting in Him who died for sin,
And rose from the grave

On heaven's bright shore (on heaven's bright shore),
There's gonna be no more dyin' (over there)
Not one little grave (not one little grave),
In all that fair land (that wonderful land).
Not even a tear will dim the eye,
and no one up there will say goodbye
Just singing His praise through endless days
on Heaven's bright shore (on heaven's bright shore)

When I must cross that rolling tide,
There'll be someone on the other side
Welcoming me to that fair land, made perfect by love
When I walk up the milky white way,
I'll see that home coming in a ray
How great it must be for angels to see
A pilgrim reach home

On heaven's bright shore (on heaven's bright shore),
There's gonna be no more dyin' (over there)
Not one little grave (not one little grave),
In all that fair land (that wonderful land)
Not even a tear will dim the eye,
And no one up there will say goodbye
Just singing His praise through endless days
On Heaven's bright shore

Just singing His praise through endless days
On Heaven's bright shore

I couldn't agree more!

Also, I love the verse you quoted, it gives me a great deal of hope.

When I hear of heaven, I think of Revelation 4 and 5. It's enough to bring me to tears. It may not be "heaven", but in describing New Jerusalem I love what Ch 21 says:

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 21:23
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

How awesome is that!

Well if that were the case we would have to ignore or reinterpret a lot of Bible passages. I believe we should rest assured in the fact that the throne of God is in Heaven, that Christ is also seated on His throne at the right hand of the Father, that the Holy Spirit is present with them, that they are surrounded by the seraphim (plural) and the cherubim (plural), as well as all the other holy angels, and that all of God's saints who have gone before us are right there in Heaven.

Heaven also contains the heavenly city New Jerusalem, and that is the "heart" of Heaven according to Hebrews 12:22-24:

But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

So what do we see in this glimpse of Heaven?

1. An innumerable company of holy angels

2. The Church of God (called the general assembly and church of the first born)

3. God the Father Himself (called God the Judge of All)

4. All the Old Testament saints (called the spirits of just men made perfect)

5. Jesus Himself (called Jesus the Mediator of the New Covenant)

6. The blood of Christ (called the blood of sprinkling)

There was One that loved enough to "pay" the price in order for us to be with our loving Father and Lord.

don't be. that song was auto written by Plant channeling something not so good mmmmmkay? Either way, the ladder or stairway is real aka Jacobs Ladder (great Rush song btw) or whatever... my sister saw my brother ascend it during a tragic incident, and I believe her. Dimensions are real, and this is just a flat text version we're in...imo.
