is it weird that He says "My commandments"

why doesn't He say 'keep the law of Moses' or 'keep the covenant of Horeb' or 'keep the 10 commandments' ?
Jesus Christ Is The Lord On Mount Horeb Silly Wabbit :)

Matthew 22:42-45KJV
42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

absolutely, Christ is the LORD God Almighty, manifest in the flesh.
so are you inconsistent in your understanding of scripture or do you believe that "My commandments" in John 14 = absolutely every jot and tittle in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers & Deuteronomy?

i.e. when's the last time you brought your sacrifices to Jerusalem? did you redeem every firstborn in your household with blood or temple shekels? do you kill a passover lamb every year before the door of the tabernacle?

oh? or do you say some of the jots and tittles are removed and you don't have to do everything according to the letter?

Your claim is false, the vast majority of society hasn't killed, there is one commandment kept
If you break one, you have broken them ALL. You have broken the whole law of God.
James 2 v 10
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.[/QUOTE]

I disagree, the 10 commandments are binding upon the Curch today, as scripture (Clearly Teaches)

Will you Act As If The Scripture Below Doesn't Exist?

Luke 6:5KJV
5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

John 14:15KJV
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 2:2-3KJV
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 5:2-3KJV
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Revelation 14:12KJV
12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
The commandments of God were directed to Hebrews. The command to build an ark was Directed to Noah. The command to go sacrifice your son was directed to Abraham.

If you want to observe Hebrew law then do so. Put your razer in the bin and let your beard grow without hindrance, and maybe get yourself some livestock for your sacrifices too, don’t mix the fibres of your clothes and leave town every time you touch blood or bodily emissions. All of it. Do it all.

Jesus spoke to Hebrews about the law that He (God) has spoken to them. Not to anyone else. He came to Israel. He spoke to those who observed the law. Context is everything. My relatives didn’t eat manna in the wilderness, I never ate a Passover nor was I ever under the law. Me nor my forefathers before me.

The rich young man came
To Jesus and asked what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus reply to this, to this Jewish man under the law firm to Jews, before jesus sacrifice upon the cross, follow the commands. No mention of believe on me or in me or follow me. This was the way people under law can have eternal life. They follow the commands.

This is clearly contextual. Pre-Christ atoning for sin. Act 15 makes it clear the Hebrews could not fulfil the law and neither God nor the 12 Apostles nor the church elders felt it necessary to extend the law to non Jews, Rather they were made clean by obedience to the commanded work of God for them. To believe in the attoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

How can you “inherit” eternal life? By completely following law? Clearly not. But through faith in the Christ alone. This is the work God commands of you now.

yes obey the commandments given to YOU.
Don’t put your son on an Alter.
Don’t build an ark
BUT
Do love your enemies
Do love God and your neighbour.
Do believe on Jesus Christ
And
Don’t subvert people’s souls.

Acts 15
23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

I won’t respond further on this. It is furtile. I don’t understand why you want to keep forcing your convictions on others despite all The Many scriptures that validate other people’s convictions on this thread. You can’t ignore them to back up your belief. All scripture is needed for balanced theology and it is explained clearly the law was good - but It is not related to the gentile Believer. You have every right to keep it to the best of your ability though. Totally fine by the word. Just not Ok to do what you are doing to others here.
Bless you

...
None of the verses you quoted supports your assertion (and repeating yourself is just silly). However, Paul negates your assertion with only one verse:

Romans 2:14 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves.

And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring,
and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and One Shepherd.

(John 10:16)
when He makes all His sheep one flock, does He take away the freedom of one part of them in order to bring them into the fold, or does He add freedom to one part of them in order to make them all one in Him?

let's make it abundantly clear how wrong your doctrine is:

the Son of God taught us that the foundation of the Law and Prophets -- all of them -- is in Deuteronomy 6 & Leviticus 19

neither of these are the 10 commandments.
the 10 commandments are not the foundation of the Law.

Deuteronomy 6 & Leviticus 19 are part of the 'ordinances'

so you would remove the very foundation of the Law in order to impose on the freedom of the children of God.

mate, your track record in this thread is very poor.

Over and out
yes -- those He took out of Egypt who, from day 1, proved themselves unfaithful and unbelieving. these He rescued, then test, and having shown themselves a stiff-necked & unrighteous people, He gave them a covenant of law. so it is written, the law is not for the righteous, but sinners: sinners who accused Him of capriciously bringing them into the wilderness in order to murder them, their children and their animals.
that is who the law is for.

this does not mean that those who have been granted grace and freedom in the Son are not righteous: 'for if righteousness was by law then Christ died for nothing' -- but the just live by faith. God Himself is the source of righteousness, not the keeping of the letters of commandments. there is a righteousness, not of ourselves, apart from the law.

what's this?

you believe jots and tittles have been removed, eh
you have given the fallacious understanding of this, @Truth7t7, so let me give you the key to the right understanding.
so you can know the truth, and live up to your namesake. :)

we have died, and our life is hidden in Christ ((Colossians 3:3))
the law has no power over a dead man ((Romans 7:1))
the power of sin is the law ((1 Corinthians 15:56))
sin has no more power over us ((Romans 6:14)) --- because in Him we are dead in order that in Him we might have life

not one jot or tittle is removed from the Law in order for it to have zero jurisdiction over a man or woman who has died.
this is the freedom of the gospel of Christ; it is in grace, in spirit and in truth, not in the letter, which kills.

your doctrine of slavery to the letter requires you to delete jots and tittles at your discretion in order to justify yourself.
right doctrine, that of redemptive, transformative freedom in the LORD, does not.

what's this?

you believe jots and tittles have been removed, eh
Example: Dietary, Circumcision, are Ordinances done away with, not the 10 commandments

Dietary: As the sheet dropped before Peter, and he refused to eat in Acts 11, Dietary Ordinances are gone.

The Jot And Tittle have to do with Prophecy, all will be fulfilled

The 10 Commandments stand, and are directed to all humans on earth.

I believe a person should be wise, and not teach breaking the 10 Commandments, a penalty of being (Least) in the Kingdom?

Those who teach and do them will be (Great) in the Kingdom (y)

Matthew 5:18-19KJV
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

The Jot And Tittle have to do with Prophecy, all will be fulfilled
one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
(Matthew 5:18)
all the Law stands to condemn everyone who has not been removed from its power.
whoever has died is no longer under the Law.

salvation is not by works, neither is it by the will, effort or strength of man. it is by Him who has mercy on whom He will have mercy.
