do you think that when the scriptures were completed that the gift of prophecy ceased?
Without realizing it?
You finally got it.
Wanting too much, to belong and be accepted by a group with a common inclination, is the stuff that all apostate organizations draw people in with.
The gift of prophesy ceased.
And, as predicted by Peter, Afterward, counterfeits arose.
Please note how Peter switches words, and refuses to say there will be any prophets among us.
For Peter knew what Paul taught about the gift of prophesy ceasing!
His congregation were also aware that there would be no more prophets!
But there were also false prophets among the people,
even as there will be false teachers among you.
2 Pet 2:1a
Peter and his people would not have been deceived if someone claimed to be a prophet, knowing full well
that Paul's teachings said that the gift of prophesy would cease!
So, if anyone wanted to deceive Peter's flock in the future? Someone would have to sneak in as a teacher, not a prophet!
But there were also false prophets among the people,
even as there will be false teachers among you.
I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put
obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away
from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own emotions.
By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of unsuspecting people. Rom 16:17-18
The answers to deception are always buried within the Word!
