(1Co 15:35) But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
(1Co 15:36) Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
(1Co 15:37) And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

Paul illustrates the resurrection using seeds and plants. If you look at the resurrection from that perspective, you will see that the resurrection isn't about the resurrection of our earthly bodies, but it is about the raising of our soul, or our 'being", the real us, from death to life. As the bible says "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me". We as believers "have been raised from death unto life".... this is the resurrection.

In verse 36 Paul says "that which thou sowest is not quickened except it die". At first thought it would seem as though Paul is talking about our body dying but he isn't because "the plant", which is analogous to our bodies, IS NOT SOWN, seeds are sown.

In verse 37 we are told exactly that. "That which is sown, IS NOT the body that shall be", NOR is it our earthly body. That which is sown is BARE GRAIN.... a seed. That seed is our soul or our 'being", the real us that is sown into this earthly body of corruption.

So the resurrection of the dead, it has nothing to do with raising our mortal bodies from the dead.

Then why this:

images.jpeg

Why does Christ eat fish in front of them explicitly to prove that His body is raised, that He is not a ghost, i.e. He was not only raised 'spiritually' but His very own literal body of flesh?

Obviously you have not being paying close attention to what the Bible ACTUALLY says. So you are simply speculating with Gnostic ideas.

Here is the Scripture which thoroughly refutes what you have stated above:
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken [bring to life] your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Rom 8:11)

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. (Phil 3:21)

Gnostic ideas are very insidious, and they continue to influence Christians.

Gnostic ideas are very insidious, and they continue to influence Christians.
(Rom 8:10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
If Christ be in you, your BODY IS DEAD. The dead body in that verse is obviously NOT referring to the body as being physically dead. Do you agree? Christ is in us and our literal flesh bodies are not dead.

(Rom 8:11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
The mortal body in verse 11 is the SAME BODY as verse 10. The literal body in verse 10 IS NOT literally dead and the quickening in verse 11 isn't quickening a literal body.

There's nothing gnostic about this, and it's a shame that the truth of God seems like a Gnostic heresy to you.

Good topic 1611. I think there is more happening in regards to resurrection.

Being born again is a resurrection from spiritual death:

Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved.)

However, Paul was waiting for the new body which for us happens at death then being raised in the new spiritual body. The old body of flesh is "discarded" not raised.

1 Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

1 Cor 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Paul clearly states that the raising in the spiritual body was still future to him even though he was stating the believers back then were resurrected and alive in Christ:

1 Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

Today we no longer sleep at death but are raised in the new spiritual body.

Your assumption is that this verse means to REWORK this earthly body of death which is the exact OPPOSITE of what Paul taught in the OP verses. We will be CHANGED from this vile body in the twinkling of an eye when we SHED this earthly body and put on the glorious body that is FASHIONED, not reworked, to be like the glorious body of Jesus.

I called it our souls or our "essence" but yes, the spirit is planted into this earthly body of death aka corruption but one day our spirits will shed this body and we will put on our spiritual bodies.

(1Co 15:42) So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

This is further proof that the event known as The Resurrection has nothing to do with raising dead mortal bodies. "It" is sown in corruption, "It" is raised in incorruption.

What is "it"?

It is the SEED - the spirit. The spirit is sown in corruption (this earthly mortal body). The spirit is RAISED in incorruption (our heavenly bodies).

Christians aren't waiting on a future resurrection, all Christians have ALREADY been resurrected. All we are waiting for is the shedding of this body so that we can put on the new one.

Long time no speak.

I hope you are well.

Do you believe that we have a body, soul and spirit or are soul and spirit the same?

I do not fully understand this as some say yes and some say no.

What I find is

John 19:30
30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

So Jesus gives up his spirit but to whom or what?

How does this relate to the resurrection of the soul?
Has it not already been raised from death to life as a result of faith?

Spiritually dead but now alive.

I do think we will have a physical body or a body that we see Jesus had when he rose physically again.

I do find this this whole concept difficult but very interesting.

Not sure I will ever fully get it.

I disagree. Jesus is the Resurrection AND THE LIFE. Eternal Life. Jesus literally rose from the dead and has a literal body. What you are saying is what Gnosticism teaches about the resurrected body from the dead.

The very word of God and Pual is saying this 1cor 15:54 speaking about the resurrection of the Body of Christ.

So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” Paul says I tell you a mystery We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Yes it was the resurrection of his dead body but Jesus wasn't dead in his trespass and sin like we were. We have been resurrected from that death. Think about, were you literally dead and buried with Christ? Have you been resurrected from that death? No you haven't because you mortal body hasn't died.

Every time the word resurrection is mentioned in the bible, it isn't always the resurrection of a dead body, some times, as with the case of "The Resurrection" it's about being raised from being dead in our sins and trespasses.

I never said Jesus wasn't resurrected from the dead, he was resurrected along with many of the OT saints. That's not my point, the point I'm making is "The Resurrection" has nothing to do with the raising of dead mortal bodies. We were raised from "spiritual death" because Jesus was raised from physical death. He paid for the sins that made us dead IN SIN.

Yes Lazarus was raised, was that "The Resurrection"? No it wasn't. Was Lazarus still dead in his sin and trespass after Jesus raised his mortal body? Yes he was because the mortal body of Christ hadn't been raised at the point, Christ HAD NOT paid for Lazarus sins at that point.

The hope of the believer is that believers will never die. Believers in Christ are translated to heaven just prior to the death of this body, just like Enoch and every other believer in Christ that has died has experienced. That is the hope of the believer, knowing that we will never SEE DEATH.

CS1 just believe what Paul said in the verses I posted from the beginning and all of this will make sense if you will just believe what is written exactly as it's written. Nothing Paul said there contradicts anything else in the bible. I'm praying that you will do that.
