Something tells me that "someone" or "herders" in Gerasa who had pigs shouldnt of had pigs in the first place....due to the torah or the Law of Moses? First off that part is very significant, Jesus cast the demons into pigs that might have belonged to jews living in Gerasa which was not lawful period. Kinda like a secret place where they raised them on this part of Palestine....

Matthew 8:28

28 When He had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes,e Other mss read Gergesenes two demon-possessed men met Him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

Gadarene. Gadara was the capital of Peraea (Josephus, b. j. 4, 7,
3), situated opposite the southern extremity of the Lake of Gennesaret to the
southeast, but at some distance from the lake on the banks of the river Hieromax
(Pliny, h. n. 5, 16), 60 stadia from the city
Tiberias (Josephus, Vita65), inhabited chiefly
by Gentiles (Josephus, Antiquities 17, 11, 4);
cf.

Us gentiles would have been unclean pig farmers/eaters.

Kefa's got it. They were not part of Israel, so the pigs were normal. Note, they told Jesus to leave, and He did. later, jesus states His mission is only to the lost sheep of Israel. Getting it out of Israel, was Paul's job.

Jesus' birth abolished the law.Mark 7:9-15="It's not what goes in the mouth of the man that defiles him, but what comes out that defileth the man"
The old law of what to eat, etc to gain heaven was abolished after Jesus was born. Now Jesus is the ONLY way to gain salvation. Pigs were probably the nearest animal, which showed the men were no longer possessed, but the pigs were. (to better show that demons left the men & entered the pigs, is better proof to onlookers, than just freeing the men).

Exactly but he wouldnt have went there if it wasnt part of the lost sheep of israel, why would he set sail there in the first place? And if he came to help only the lost sheep of israel didnt he help the demonic who matter of fact could have been a jew in a somewhat jewish area?

There's various thoughts on that. Some people think Jesus needed to figure out that His ministry was only to Israel. I think He knew, being God. But He needed to prove it to us. He needed to show it was not time to help Gentiles until all Israel had been offered a chance to accept or reject Him. I doubt the demoniac was a Jew. Once he was healed, everyone seemed to know him.

He had just been rejected by the leaders and was showing His disciples
a glimpse of what God had in store for the world.

Surely a minority. Jews lived many places outside Israel, due to the various times Israel was attacked, and they were deported. For some to live just across the lake would be no big deal.

???? Jesus went back later and preached in these cities:

Mark 5
[h=3][/h] [SUP]20 [/SUP]And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.

Mark 7
[SUP]31 [/SUP]Again, departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon, He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee. [SUP]32 [/SUP]Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. [SUP]33 [/SUP]And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue. [SUP]34 [/SUP]Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.”

[SUP]35 [/SUP]Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. [SUP]36 [/SUP]Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it. [SUP]37 [/SUP]And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

Matthew 4:25 Great multitudes followed Him—from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.

it is quite clear there were followers from Decapolis (ten cities) where the demon possessed man with the Legions of demons that were cast into the swine lived.
