"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." - James 1:17.

So even in the NT, we can see that God never changes.

Whatever appears to us as God "doing things differently" or "going against what He said or did in the past" is actually all fully consistent with His perfect character. Because He is perfect, holy, just, righteous and good, anything and everything He does is perfect. We have "scales" on our eyes, so we cannot fully grasp that.
