First of all, no, I don't believe it is biblical. Second, it is not just in Pentecostal circles, though it probably originated from Pentecostals. It pains me to say this because I am Pentecostal, I guess. I have been told by non-pentecostals that I am and I have been told by some Pentecostals that I am not. This great revival or end time harvest is something I believe was just conjured up. Probably someone received a so called personal revelation. I think the Bible teaches just the opposite. A great falling away before Jesus returns. Not a falling away of true believers, but a falling away of those who are not genuinely converted.
That's my take on it.

True and happening. Revival is poised to happen in US and Canada. Happening in England now. We tend to miss it because the relative pace of God's agenda is very long compared to our sense of time. You have only to compare how we worship, and the percentage of people being raised to ministry today with those of 60 years ago to see it.

I think it would be great for God to send revival upon the earth today. From scripture there is nothing to prevent it. The hearts of men may be a different story. Revival starts at the house of God. God's people getting right with Him. Toss out the hedonism and worldliness we have in the church today maybe add a heavy dose of persecution and suffering and we may be blessed to see a great moving of God. Rescuing souls and restoring holiness.
The thing in scripture is that the world will be like it was when Noah lived when the Lord returns. Pretty bad times spiritually speaking. The Lord did question whether He would find faith when He returned.

Actually, it is quite the opposite...

Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Here the end time era of the church is described as becoming lukewarm and Christ will reject them.

Yes. All through the old testament.
And...

"And after these things I saw four messengers standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree."

...

...

"Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four messengers which are bound in the great river Euphrates. [SUP]15 [/SUP]And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men."

And it's gonna be a revival with power.

It seems the great falling away is almost here, churches are preaching what the people want to hear, and there are so many false teachings it's blinding, all paths lead to God is everywhere, it's amazing anyone even hears the truth, so many christians have fallen away, it truly saddens me

A 'Great Revival' is the last bastion for post-millenialism.

I do not know, nor have I studied anything about a great revival just previous to the return ouf our Savior, Yeshua. Here is the teaching from Paul about a great falling away before the Beast comes on the scene.

2Th 2:1
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2Th 2:2
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2Th 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2Th 2:4
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

2Th 2:5
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

2Th 2:6
And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

2Th 2:7
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

2Th 2:8
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

2Th 2:9
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2Th 2:10
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Th 2:11
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2Th 2:12
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

See here the righteousness of our Father. Those who have chosen (past tense) unrighteousness will believe lies. They appear to be doing this now at all levels, not just in theologies, but in political teaching and thinking. I say see our Father's righteousness because He has given us markers in these people who follow and believe lies to steer clear of. Now, this is very special attention to each of His children. Blessed be Yahweh, God, now and forever, all glory to Him, amen.

The history of the church, and indeed, the history of Israel as well, has been one of great revival followed closely thereupon by a slide into apostasy. One can easily list a number of revivals coming about in just the last couple of hundred years, each one usually accompanied by the revelation of some new spiritual truth or understanding.

And I do believe a final revival will soon come along. But I believe it will be a revival directed toward a wholesale return to God's Word. For in the afflictions of the end times, which will affect the entire world, nothing else will give one the strength to stand, but that incorruptible Word of God by which we've been born again (1 Peter 1:23). Nothing else can bring about the unity, the oneness of the body of Christ, that will be required to produce, "...a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." Eph 5:27.

His return will wait until that state is reached. And that state cannot be reached without a return to the simplicity, truth and verity of the Bible.

I believe we will see a false revival that leads to the enforcment of the Mark of the Beast (Sunday Sabbath). But some might say I'm way out in Right field. Time will tell.

This has been brought to my attention in assemblies, and I cannot discount it as a very strong possibility. I do know we must all trust in Yeshua, and be prepared for any development. Come the greatest tribulation ever, the events will be so out of the ordinaryi, it will shock all who are not followers of the evil one.

Your thought on the matter is far from being unworthy of meditation or even preparation on the part of believers. Thanks for the reminder......

I've seen something on tv a while back called The Great Awakening, reading the first post on this thread reminded me of it, I've took the time to provide you with a link to their site, Events : The Great Awakening , Or, perhaps this has nothing to do with it lol, because it said nothing about it being a last revival, but might be something perhaps to look into anyway.
I agree with the others, that the bible does not support the claims preceding. I also am told by many of old who have said it has changed since growing up, with the respect for others, or well mannerism, generosity, or politeness of the general population in today's society. However, not too long ago were we prejudice, and slaves suffering unnecessary persecution. So I can not quite see how this day in age differs much from the other days as far as perverse generations. Even as fools should mock the coming of my Lord and my God.
Not to be offset, statistics show that Christianity is the leading world religion, even though everyonés standard, perspective of a Christian may not always be the same as another's, still, it is what it is.
As well as seeing how that the world will be falling away, I believe that it should also compel us genuine Christians to seek out (all the more earnestly) the rest of the flock of sheep of Jesus Christ. A "last minute" (my words) revival sounds a bit sugar coated and prepared for the itching ears, rather than something biblical.
To the one who showed the excerpt of the 4 angels being loosed and given a year, a month, a day, and an hour to slay a third part of men, yeh no doubt that should bring revival, but i don't see this being prophesied as, as the great revival.

The revival and the tribulation are the same thing. The books of the prophets are full of this.

If this were true and could be, and if we the people see this, and that we could use it as the end is near, when a day is as a thousand years and visa versa
Now people have been using signs as a way to get to others and put them in fear, to sell supplies, to gather up, to tell others watch out, like when 1999 was here and 2,000 was next and it is the end, and like others have gotten others moneys by them thinking it is the end.
Garbage to it all, do you believe God that His Son Jesus went to a cross for you personally, and in prayer have you asked God what this means? Then share how deep God's love is for you and all that will believe God did it all for you at the cross, where Christ being perfect never had to go there and die, and then be raised.
Christ did this for the whole world, to bring in new life to all that believe in the Spirit of God. God did this, not man, that is what the good news is, Christ brought us life through God the Father
We all are first born here on earth in and of flesh, then through the cross we are made alive in The Spirit of God by the resurrection, yet the death was need first so we could be
[h=3]Colossians 1:21-23[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)

[SUP]21 [/SUP]And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled [SUP]22 [/SUP]in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—
[SUP]23 [/SUP]if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
This right there is the great revival done in one person at a time, like a domino effect, without belief in God's operation through the cross, one can't see and is blind to the Spirit of God.
Believe, see, and receive this new life where God can only be worshipped in all joy, peace and righteousness of the Holy Spirit

  1. John 4:23
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
  2. John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
  3. John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
  4. John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
  5. Ephesians 5:9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),

Just a thought.......Didn't it already happen? If we look at the great outpouring that happened on Azuza St., then the original
(not recent) charismatic movement in the 60's, it seems we've already had it. And as carey said, the decline has begun. If we look at all three together, it seems to make sense. This is only an observation.
