Why Jesus? A unique question for sure.
How do we know we need Jesus? No disrespect intended. I just left a discussion that has me a bit confused and now I find this. Maybe it is a sign I don't know.
Our human race is estimated to be in existence for about 200,000 years. But we find out we are what we're told we are in the old testament that is about 1,000 years old. I looked and they say it came to exist about 1,500 B.C..
And it is 3,518 years since that old testament came into being.

Do you see my question?
I was brought up in the faith and now I'm older and want to see if there is anything about it that is meant for me today. I appreciate any help. You all know so much and for me it is becoming more confusing the more I read things here.
How do you come up with a 200,000 yr human race history ?

At least 210,000 years old actually. How? The Apidima cave skull fragment found in Greece in 2019, that's how.

How did they test them to get that number ?

Blind faith there is no such thing as that in a christians walk. The Lord says to trust in him is that blind faith....no not if you know the father's nature is to give you more than your expectations.
And yet some have voiced here to preach blind faith.
The bible.....66 books by 40 different authors known to be a integrated message system.
The bible....known to be the most accurate history book of all time.
The bible....know for it's prophetic writings with undeniable accuracy.
The bible....speaks of a God who interacts with Devine power leaving scares on the land of past judgement, the rise and falls of many known empires.
The bible..... Centering on a nation of people who's 6000 thousand year history has defied all other nations known to man.
The bible.... Meticulously detailing a certain king to be born that would one day rule the nation's.
The bible....taking science to it's entirety. That the conclusion of life its self had to be of a Devine nature for no answers can be found and proved with out this theology.

Anyone interested in knowing where and when????

My point simple ....it's more than scripture the Lord want you to know. The whole council of God needs to be studied.
Did jesus know that the bible would be written as it is today? The answer is yes in deed.
There were a few people jesus pointed out and said that there testamony will be known throughout all generations such as Mary who annoited him with oil .

The whole word of God can be trusted and proven don't let the enemy Rob you .
As the Lord said....my people fail because of lack of knowledge.

The natural man cannot discern that of the spirit.......so true. Does that mean thats the only evidence we can show?
My experience over the past 40 years is that those that respond in faith to Christ and are regenerated and on fire for God today were not needing an intellectual persuasion before they made that choice.

Most of them were in a crisis and they recognized their sinfulness. They heard a hopeful message of forgiveness and eternal life and they wanted change in their lives and they called upon Christ and were changed. They read the bible afterwards.

Explaining the sinfulness of sin and the Holiness of God, and why Jesus had to come to bridge that gap through paying the price for our guilty sins might be what God uses to bring someone to a place of recognizing their precarious position but it usually requires a crisis as well. That is why presenting the reason for Jesus in a county Jail will yield more converts than in a college campus.

Precisely as expected.
I did see some one try to sell that humans began in Africa 200,000 yrs ago based on ''mutations'' .. But mutations will add up much faster in populations from very harsh living conditions and climates .. And only harmful mutations are possible.. No such thing as good mutations

No matter what right answers and explanations you come up with, some will still not be convinced.

Luke 16:27
I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

I've no idea what you're talking about.
I referred you to skull fragments discovered in the Apidima cave located on the Mani peninsula of the southern Peloponnese in Greece.
Skull fragments not mutations.
I think if you search you will find the information quite intriguing.

That is interesting as I was watching an archaeological programme on TV and they said they had found evidence of human life billions of years ago. I guess you pays your money and takes your choice with that sort of thing.

When I was a kid I saw that a central question to man is 'what God is like'. So we can know each other and be true friends.
I woUlf say 'why doesn't God 'Just' become one of us and we could know Him in the deepest way possible for us.

So many years later when I was able to grasp that Jesus is that I realized that 'my solution' for God letting us get to know Him is what Christians teach and believe it was just what the doctor ordered. Faith made to order.:p

God stepped into time and history in a verifiabe manner. Our Lord isn't a vaporous figure wrapped in myth but a person recorded in history. Jesus is more real than any other person of our past. I would expect that of God.

It's not my main reason, but it's one of my reasons.
Nobody disputes historicity of Jesus nowadays for the most part, and those few who do are not serious scientists.
There are three possibilities to pick from when reading about Jesus. Only three:

1. Jesus was a con man,
2. Jesus was a crazy cultist, imagining to be son of God,
3. Jesus was who He said He was.

Historicity being confirmed, Jesus was not mythical concoction. There are no other options about who Jesus might have been, but these 3. Now, all that is left is to pick which one to believe. Can one really, with intellectual honesty, read the entire Gospels and say Jesus was a conman or a narcissist cult leader. For a reason, people were compelled immediately by Jesus' teaching, because he didn't talk like their priests, He knew people deeply and what was in them individually, and this showed. I felt very compelled by Jesus' words reading the Gospel. It's not how people talk, even wise spiritual people. Very very hard to read it and not believe Jesus to be who He said to be.
