Please read John 6 The will and the work of God are clearly written in this chapter
The Will and Work of God is that we believe on the ONE the Father has sent which is Yeshua/Jesus Christ - the Lord, our Savior and King.

John 6:29 King James Version (KJV)
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

John 6:36-39 King James Version (KJV)
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

I went and read John 6. Will you now, please read all the scriptures in the Bible that mention the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost, Spirit of Truth, Promise of the Father.

God places a very high esteem on His word. For you act like God can just change His mind based on circumstances is to throw the very promise upon which salvation is based into doubt.

For the cause of Christ
Roger

no Roger I do not act anything at all like what you describe above

and again, you are twisting what is said here

in fact, no one is even discussing salvation in this thread...at least I haven't seen it

frankly miknik, I don't understand what it is you are getting at either

that is what I am finding confusing here

perhaps explain it better
You imply that God can do more and will do more that what He has already given us in Christ Jesus. You imply that the scriptures, saying that God does what He pleases, would mean that above Christ, He will do another thing., He won´t....His word pointed us to Christ and Christ alone

The title of the thread bypasses CHRIST...and the conversations imply that one can receive the Holy Spirit without CHRIST first washing and making clean what, apart from Him, is unclean....
I do not agree with the OP.

you are mixed up

and apparently do not comprehend what I wrote

it is more than clear that God has given us ALL things in Christ and that is what I believe

you seem to assume things about people

I think you are trying to say something about me that is not true

I also see why things are confusing with you

you quote my answer to someone else...with whom I have exchanged many posts...and ask an off the wall question out of context with what you quoted

seems you are fishing and I don't know why
I think you were also the one to imply that I am posting my own personal opinions. Iḿ not...I know His word, and will quote His word. If you do not recognize what I am saying, please ask, and I will point you to the Scripture...

Please also, I was wondering if you read Acts 19. You said, of course they had heard of the Holy Spirit (this, sir...was your opinion)...I pointed you to Acts 19 which supports what I said that certain disciples of a man (that man, being Apollos) did not and Ḧad not even heard there was a Holy Spirit."

Do you retract your opinion

When you accuse me of making God small because I recognize that He places very high esteem on His word and will not violate the fidelity of His word that there is no consequence on the validity of our salvation I think you are going in circles.

God has chosen to act within the confines of His word so that we can rest assured that His promise of salvation is secure.

If we had the full measure of the Holy Spirit the moment we are saved then WHY did the apostles have to lay their hands on BELIEVERS to receive the Holy Spirit?

The logical extension of what you are espousing is that if one never experiences a great filling of the Holy Spirit they are not saved. This is heresy and not sound doctrine. A baptism of the Holy Spirit in addition to the salvation of the soul is not biblical. A filling of the Holy Spirit as part of our sanctification is biblical.
NEVER have I said that a person is NOT saved if they are not filled with the Holy Spirit. You are accusing me of heresy, yet it is YOU that are creating the lies that I did NOT say. You are behaving as a Pharisee - they also did resist the Truth because of who their father was.[/QUOTE]
=======================================================================
The 'laying on of hands' by the apostles is a 'transference of Holy Power -
Moses put his hands upon Joshua and Joshua received the 'power' that God had put into Moses...
NUM. 8:10.
And you shall bring the Levites before The LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
the 'basic-principle' in the scriptures is that Holiness is 'transferred' from contact with Something that is Holy'...
the glitch is, is, that if one comes into contact with Something that is Holy, but it is forbidden, then you die...
this is the 'basic-principle', it is written throughout the scriptures...

lots of 'home-work' is needed to understand the patterns of God, our job...

not at all Roger. not at all

if I didn't know what you believe I would apologize but let's be honest

if a person does not believe what he can read God has said, who is in error?

we are never going to come to an agreement with regard to certain gifts...but please...do not think you are going to somehow make it seem I make up my own words and then attribute them to God

that is really crossing the line

We're all mixed up when it comes to God's Word - we ONLY understand the Word of God when the Holy Spirit of God gives us understanding, otherwise - we know absolutely NOTHING.

Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

I am NOT mixed up and will NEVER be mixed up...and if tomorrow, I couldn´t remember all that I understand from all the scriptures, I still have and will keep ever before me what I began in (Just as John clearly stresses).

For even as Paul said, I desire to know nothing, but CHRiST and HIM CRUCIFIED...which alone is the Hidden Wisdom of GOD made known to all who believe....

I think you were also the one to imply that I am posting my own personal opinions. Iḿ not...I know His word, and will quote His word. If you do not recognize what I am saying, please ask, and I will point you to the Scripture...

Please also, I was wondering if you read Acts 19. Do you retract your opinion

you seem to think you are a teacher of some sort

you are not

as for your comment that no one knew about the Holy Spirit...with regards to the disciples etc....the Holy Spirit is first mentioned in the book of Genesis...right at the beginning

are you lacking in your studies of the Old Testament? the Holy Spirit is written about through the entire OT but you state people were ignorant of Him

please do not think to teach me anything. your attitude would throw me off even if you had some good insight

you THINK you know the Bible...and do not need any correction or input from others...THAT is one of the worst mistakes a person can make

anyway, I am leaving off posting to you. you are way off in your comprehension of what I said and you seem to be accusatory and desire to give the impression you are special in some way

and why do I not want to discuss with you further (in case you also misunderstood what I said above)

here, in this post, you tell me I am disregarding Acts 19

Yes, I did litereally read ALL of John 6. You told me to look for the Will of God and the Work of God.

So, you want to discuss the Truth that Yeshua/Jesus is the Bread of Life - He wants us to eat His Flesh (Body) and Drink His Blood. I totally agree! I eat His Flesh and Drink His Blood. All that Yeshua/Jesus has done for me, I receive it all, amen.

Did you go and read ALL the scriptures in the Bible that mention the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost, Spirit of Truth, Promise of the Father?
