The Holy Spirit is integral from Genesis to Revelation -
'The Spirit of God moved upon the waters' -
'PS. 51:11.
Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
have to have It for It to be taken away!!!
NUM. 14:24.
'But My servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed Me fully,
him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.'
ISA. 63:11.
Then He remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying,
Where is He that brought them up out of the sea with The Shepherd of His flock?
where is He that put His Holy Spirit within him?
EPH. 4:4.
There is One Body, and One Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling;

The Holy Spirit was not a NT concept,!!!
IT IS ETERNALLY HOLY, beginning to beginning...

well what else is going to happen with those who reject the Holy Spirit, teach AGAINST Him and value their own reasoning above all else?

sorry...but I am just so up to here with the cessationists

it is like they are just drooling for another chance to speak against what they do not have and apparently do not want us to have either
People that deny the baptism with the Holy Spirit remind of this scripture......

Acts 7:51 New International Version (NIV)
51 “You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!

sadly true

the worst thing is arguing AGAINST the Holy Spirit

God stopped Paul. He can do so again and most likely has, but we just have that story to illustrate how much a person can think they are right when they are totally wrong

if all a person has is their own understanding and claim it is God, we will have havoc and denial of what God Himself does

of course the awful reverse of that, are those who 'use' the gifts for their own end....then we have a circus or a demonic tribunal wherein the person is in agreement with the devil, the demons and a love of power and control

aaaaannnnndddd here is why I am not really caring to debate with you Roger...past behavior is definitely an indicator of future behavior once again

I never said anything about our spirit being the Holy Spirit. the thing is, since you reject so much about the Holy Spirit, you do not have the ability to understand much of what is said about Him

those verses indicate what I said to be true. our bodies are dead...so are our souls as far as salvation is concerned, WITHOUT the Holy Spirit...and by the way, there are depths to that statement that are proven true in this very thread sadly. the flesh exalts in itself as those who poo poo the gifts show...and again I know full well about the abuse, prob more than many
Simple matter of you do not read what I wrote. I said that the passage in Romans 8 is speaking of the Holy Spirit and not our spirit. The translation you were using did not make that clear and caused an error.

I believe that scripture teaches that three gifts cease not all the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Yeshua/Jesus was not only a NT concept, either. HOWEVER, Yeshua/Jesus and the Holy Spirit show up in the NT in a NEW and LIVING WAY for ALL that believe.

The "works" of Yeshua/Jesus on the Earth were for our Salvation.

The "works" of the Holy Spirit on the Earth are for us to live this new life in Christ and be empowered to be His witnesses in the Earth.

God-The Father gives us the Gift of His Son for Salvation.
God-The Father gives us the Gift of His Holy Spirit to Live this New Life.

Are you saying there is ONLY the WATER BAPTISM?

Nope.

Not everyone in the Bible received the baptism with the Holy Spirit the moment they believed. They did get sealed with the Holy Spirit, but not baptized. It was later when Paul asked if they had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit since they believed.

It's not man-made. It's biblical. John the Baptist baptized in water, but Yeshua/Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and Fire.
They didn't believe, nor did they even know of a Holy Spirit. They had been baptized into John's Baptism

Please read Acts 19

And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7And all the men were about twelve.

a simple prayer for those who are ensnared by the devil's lie

I pray that

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Are you saying there is ONLY the WATER BAPTISM?
How did you deduce that from one baptism? One baptism of the Holy Spirit with many subsequent fillings. I have not mentioned water baptism because water baptism has no effect on salvation.

You are not saved until you have received the Holy Spirit. That is the new birth the quickening spoken of in Eph 2.

'7',
oh my yes, darling,
may we all have our hope in His 'calling-riches-glory-inheritance -
as it is written:
'MATT. 25:34.
Then shall The King say unto them on His right hand,
Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit The Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Nope, you're wrong again. They spoke in tongues and prophesied because they had been baptized with the Holy Spirit by the laying on of Paul's hands.

Did you notice when they spoke in tongues and prophesied?

It was AFTER they were baptized (water baptism) in the Name of the Lord Jesus.

Acts 19:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
19
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

How do you explain Acts 1:5?

Acts 1:5 King James Version (KJV)
5
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) not many days hence.
These were Apollos's disciples. You need to go back to acts 18 first

====================================
the scripture tells us that we have to 'repent and then be baptized', and then 'we shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit',
ACTS. 2:38.'
and then, Paul goes on to explain in Romans, chapter '6', that we are 'Baptized' into the 'death of Jesus Christ',..

but to say that 'water-baptizim' has NO EFFECT is a very incorrect statement...

You're not explaining yourself very well.

I agree there is ONLY ONE BAPTISM that ALL believers are baptized with and it is the Baptism with the Holy Spirit which is the FIRST time the believer is FILLED with the Holy Spirit.

AFTER that, we are to be CONTINUALLY FILLED with the Holy Spirit (NOT subsequent fillings). We are to stir up the Gift of the Holy Spirit within us daily with prayer, reading/study and meditating on the scriptures, singing songs in our hearts to God, worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth......etc......

Paul was purposely going to the town where Apollos was from because Apollos, though preaching the Gospel, was not preaching it rightly according to the way of God. Paul noticed it and so did the woman disciple which is why Paul, after expounding and teaching Apollos more rightly, went back to see Apollos' disciples. His first question being, did you receive the Holy Spirit, since you believed? All believers receive the Holy Spirit and glorify Christ, which is what THE HOLY SPIRIT does...glorifies CHRIST...
