Thats not to point. The point is that such number games are silly and proving nothing.

You can do similar job with any other translation.
This is post 1 for you on this thread. 1 x 37 = 37 !!! Uh oh!! James37 mite be rite.

1 x 37 = 37 !!!!! There's proof God is in this with him.  ;)
preacher4truth has 14 character in his nickname. And one number, 4.

14 - 4 = 10 and 10 symbolizes our fingers (we have 10 fingers, right?).

So whenever preacher4truth posts something on the forum, he uses his fingers to do that!

Also, do you realize that my nickname, trofimus, contains all letters needed for the word "forum"? Ooooooh! And where do I use this nickname? On this forum!

I have proved something, IMHO. Prove that I am wrong!

SovereignGrace has 14 letters in it. Divide that by two and you have 7. Then 7 is 37 - 7. I have been a member here for 332 days, and 332 days is almost 10 x 37. Wow! I now see where James37 gets his lunacy from.

Getting back to the OP.

These #'s mean squat, considering they were originally written w/o chapters and verses.

Ok, enough of fun regarding the nonsense of gematria (gematria of anything, not just the KJV)...

The KJV had its time, it helped millions of English speaking people over the world, it really has its place in history (as every translation has).

But it became a fetish and idol for some, which is not right. There are better translations and better sources to translate from.

Plus, the way it was written was the way ppl spoke at that time. Since then, the English language has changed, and no one uses 'eth' at the end of their words. If they do, and they are not quoting a Shakespeare play, they need committed.

The newer versions are written the way we speak today. I'd imagine that if time lasts a lot longer, the English language will sound different than it does now, ergo, newer versions with updated language being published. Its called keeping up with the times.

BTW, what translation do you use/prefer?

John 3:16...

John in the fourth book in the NT. 3 x 16 = 48. 48 x 4 = 196. 196 - 3 - 48- 145 = 0

0 is the amount of sense this KJV superiority complex makes.
And John 3:16 is quoted falsely in most new translations.

NASB and NIV are my two favorites. But I also use the HCSB, CSB and ESV. But the NASB and NIV are my first picks.
The bible should not be a personal preference based on words or "I like how this version puts it..." Let the word of God stand alone and believe it whether one likes how it sounds or not.

When words change, meanings change with it. We should keep up with the bible instead of changing the bible to keep up with us. Do you understand how perverse that sounds in God's ears? Changing His word to fit our needs?

From my study i think people may be getting the gematria definition wrong..

Gematria as far as i know is the system where they used to assign numerical values to certain letters.. So each letter of the alphabet or the Hebrew alphabet was assigned a numerical value..

What we see James37 doing in this thread is counting words in the KJV Bible.. This is not Gematria as far as i know..

So i think that point about it being Gematria should be removed because i don't believe it is..

Perhaps it is acrostic algebra, or, perhaps it's home economics gone cuckoo? :D

Where did he say he likes how it sounds, or he liked how this version puts it? He uses them because they are accurate, not inaccurate like the KJV.

i read the king james bible. and believe it

and even i think this is pointless.

the verse and chapters help in navigating thru scripture. but often times we'd be better off without them so we can get a more full context instead of proof texting.

Obviously, if you use more than one version, you are using each for it's preference in words. If one is accurate, then why use another? No inaccuracies have ever been proven in the KJV, fact.

The above is patently false which is status quo for you. Only a person deceived by KJVOisms would be incapable of seeing the errors in the KJV translation.
