We had somebody here a while back who was from another forum where they picked up a lot
of lies, false accusations, and gossip about this site and some of the members here. So they
came here with an agenda, under a challenge, they said, and eventually revealed a good deal
of what they thought along those lines, some of which I know for a fact was false. Why they
thought it a good idea to believe and spread such falsities, rumours and gossip I cannot say.
Sorry to hear that .

It has nothing to do with the forum I was referring to.

Hardly irrelevant when the stories are so similar.
Absolutely irrelevant when I have no idea what you're talking about.

There's another forum where that kind of thing occurred. It's still active as a non-Christian forum.

Their event happened years ago.

That's good. I wasn't promoting eating it.
I think it is a lack of sobriety, and being "brought under the power" of something. I have a few siblings that have smoked it, and my one brother quit, later telling me he was using it to distract himself. While he was smoking though, he defended it and was trying to convince me it was fine. He now looks back and can't believe he said that.

I was talking about the same sort of things you were, yet you have no idea? OK.

There are medicinal uses for such, and they are quite beneficial to those who require them.

That's correct.
I am unable to help you understand that a long defunct site experience I shared has nothing to do with your experience. No relationship whatsoever.

I'm sorry you can't see that. However, I'm not going to continue this line of discussion.

No one can honestly deny that, provided the use is strictly medicinal, but is that the same as getting "stoned"? The other problem is the .progression from "soft" drugs to "hard drugs" and finally the killer fentanyl.

People carve and paint these little pet rocks. Or big pet rocks. Haven't you ever seen a Hindu statue or a stone Buddha? People rock out to Buddha. It's transcendental meditation, they just sit there chanting until they're as idle as the idol. Then they're stoned, and they go around being evangelical about it by stoning other people. Figuratively, anyway, they also get literal later on as their numbers and level of political influence rise.

I don't find that I get any medical benefits from smoking genetically mutated cotton plants. I can't justify the expense of doing it for fun either, because it just doesn't have any nicotine in the final product.

It is true that drugs kill many; where I live, they die by the thousands every year. In 2022, there were 2,272
suspected illicit drug toxicity deaths. This is the second largest number of suspected deaths ever recorded
in a calendar year, behind 2021 (2,306) [probably mostly fentanyl related]. People argue against everything.
Some even resolutely refuse to acknowledge that the Bible recommends alcohol under certain conditions.

Im not sure why smoking weed/marijuana/pot or eating cannabis has come. to mean being 'stoned' I imagine its because when you are throwing stones at someone they cower and fall down?

Anyway being stoned in the Bible always meant in public as punishment for something like adultery.
There were no 'private' stoning parties the point of doing the stoning was that it was in public in full view of everyone to humiliate them because adulterers actually did it in private before they were 'found out'.

The other thing is adultery often involves lying and sneaking around, thats where the phrase living in sin meant and also to 'make an honest woman' of someone, really meant, just marry them for life or pay them like a prostitute by the hour if what you are doing with them is carnal.

These days adultery still happens and goes on but without the stoning. What tends to happen is either someone dies, or their heart breaks, or they get divorced because of adultery. So think twice before you are tempted to commit it. Also children of adultery will always be a reminder of your sin and most do find out their parentage and if not redeemed will go on taking whoever they please because their parents did it.

Where do boys learn to treat girls badly? iF their dad had a mistress or several all they learn is that their fathers dont attach any importance to their mother and love just means using someone for sexual gratification.

Consider this, also:
When Bob Dylan sang 'Rainy Day Women', drug addled and judgmental minds assumed it was about getting
loaded. The lyrics they heard was the chorus "Everybody must get stoned." and ignored the rest. It's about
being put down, criticized and being slandered. Getting stoned was in reference to what happened to Steven
while Saul of Tarsus stood by and held the cloaks of the assailants. He was forgiven and became Paul.
Just read the first stanza. and the last.

Well, they’ll stone ya when you’re trying to be so good
They’ll stone ya just a-like they said they would
They’ll stone ya when you’re tryin’ to go home
Then they’ll stone ya when you’re there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned

Well, they’ll stone you when you walk all alone
They’ll stone you when you are walking home
They’ll stone you and then say you are brave
They’ll stone you when you are set down in your grave
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.
