I saw a crazy teacher wipe out over 100 people including himself that all swore the gifts were for today.
I really pray to God that you would come to your senses. You are a sad and bitter person.

It's a matter of being all hat and no cattle.
I know for some churches miracles are show business, but not all my friend. Like I said before, we have experienced them before and I pray to God we will see many more in my house.

How many people were raised from the dead in the Bible and by who?

Interesting reading when you look at it, especially between Elisha and Elijah.

Where are examples from today? Especially after Paul said they would end?

If the gifts are for today, raise some dead people like they did in Acts.
That is still on my bucket list.

So far I've experience personally (as in God's done these things in me so I actually know at least a little about them) the following things... but I am fairly certain my true testimony is not what it takes to persuade you. In fact it might surprise me if you even believe that I am telling the truth. Nevertheless, here's a partial list:

  • Dreams and interpretation of dreams
  • Healings of others, healing of self
  • God showing things to come so I'd know before leaving home if anything exciting was going to happen that day at work, and what type of thing it would be, such as if I were going to be sent on a trip or if a dignitary would be visiting that day
  • A word of wisdom, which seems to be what he uses me in most often
  • Laying on of hands that another might receive the Holy Ghost (because I was asking God if he would do that through me, as I'd seen it happen through others, then he led me to do it) and yes, the person (an adult not associated with my church in any natural way) began speaking in tongues.
  • Visions (on one occasion showing me where a passing ambulance was headed and what the devil was up to so it could be thwarted)
  • Innumerable answered prayers, and I'm not talking vague or even tiny prayers.. I mean some biggies. One seems on its way right now because I was praying about how I would get the tuckpoint done on a building I own in Dexter, Iowa and Saturday I received a letter from the city, asking me to fill out an application that I might qualify for a grant providing new windows, new doors, tuckpoint and other masonry work, and new wiring and lighting (and more) to the front of my 2-story storefront. (estimated benefit $60,000). I asked a similar thing regarding my house and others (because I had the 2nd worst looking house in town, lots of kids and little money) and was the first recipient of a housing rehabilitation grant providing a new roof, new windows, new siding, new flooring, everything painted(to cover any lead paint) and several other updates... $33,000 in improvements to my house, $33,000 in improvements to my mom's house, $33,000 in improvements to my brother's house(not same house, they each had their own)...at no cost to us. And many other prayers. I'm just including the mention of these because they are verifiable, if you were really honest about the idea of "if you see, you'd believe". Most people are effectively lying through their teeth when they suggest such a thing, which is why neither Jesus nor I will honor those "Go do this" commands from unbelieving individuals.
Like I said, that's by no means a comprehensive list, but it is enough that you could verify if you wanted to. And if you chose to disbelieve, a greater list would not improve that outcome. May you use it wisely.

Everyone has miraculously answered prayers. But go raise a few dead folks before claiming to have the gifts.

You cannot say that the disciples were not Jewish just because they were Ephesians. There were many Jews scattered throughout Asia.

You are endeavoring to build doctrine on supposition and not facts. In any case prophesy today is over. 1 Cor 13:8 Preaching the word is now how God operates. 1 Cor 1:21.

If we devote half as much energy doing what we ought to be doing instead of attempting to develop doctrines that only result in self edification we would see many more souls coming to Christ. If we did that we would be influencing society instead of society reshaping what is seen as church.

You are pointing out truth on this one. You are correct that it is only an assumption that they were Gentiles, it just says he found them while in Ephesus. It actually doesn't even say they were Ephesians. :)

I actually apologize for knowingly leveraging this assumption. I had a reason (though I question the purity of it) for doing it. I wanted to see if you would catch it.

Because IF you are keen enough to recognize that the bible doesn’t actually say they were Ephesians (only that he met them on his journey there) THEN you are also keen enough to recognize that 1 Cor 13:8 doesn’t actually say that the gifts have ceased (only that they will someday).

Further, 1 Cor. 13:10 does not state “that which is perfect has come” but rather “WHEN that which is perfect is come, THEN...”. It takes an assumption (or an update from God) to move from the biblically stated “it hasn’t happened yet” to the claim (of some) that “It has happened” And it also takes an assumption to call the bible “that which is perfect”.

And because you are keen enough to see these things, you cannot claim ignorance. Please consider that fact as you also know we will all stand before the Lord to give account of our actions.

Is that how you judge the apostles? Or Jesus? ("You're not true until you do THIS")

BTW, it seems I was correct in thinking it unlikely for you to be swayed by a true witness. I don't think you've even had time to verify (if verity was what you were after).

You are claiming something you cannot prove. If it was real it would be headline news. Especially in the pandemic. Lying signs and wonders are just that, lying signs and wonders.

You seem to only be interesting in the gift of tongues and healing and you clearly don't believe in them but you then discount the other gifts as well.
Tell me this have you not seen them? is that why you refuse to believe they are for today even with all the scriptures you say you hold so true?
would it surprise you that I walk in the gift of prophecy for instance?

You would see it regardless of the motive for using it if it existed. With all the phone videos today?
No you wouldn't because the motive is always the deciding factor. yes people can fake it but the true miracles are not done on our own accord they are done according to the spirits leadding

But we just don't see them?
I think you are forgetting the basis of faith, we don't believe because we see. I mean have you seen God's face? but you believe in him yes?
I have not seen the miracle of healing nor have I ever received it no matter how much I pray for it and others pray for me to recieve it yet I believe in fully regardless not because I have seen or experienced but because of what I have come to know of God.
The propblem is you are trying to see and validate the gifts with the eyes of the world not through God's eyes and because of this you have hardened your heart and even if God wanted to show you the turhth to them maybe even experience them you would not see it and refuse it.
Do you think that I have not been damaged by such people? Or that I long to see and experience them but only see fake imitations?

Yes exactly they are not what we present rather what he does through us, yet you keep asking for proof of such things when proof is not what you lack. I walk in the gift of prophecy but I only do so according to the spirits leading. I do not prophesy a thus saith the lord rather the gift of prophecy is not what most people think it is far more than visions and dreams and proclaiming a prophetic word and it also doesn't make one a prophet

Had I not been severely damaged by so called prophets on youtube I don't know if I ever would have understood this lesson and yes the gift of the holy spirit is the first gift given however the gifts of the spirit as you so relentlessly refute are given to us by him according to his will and word.

Lying signs and wonders are just that, lying signs and wonders.
And true signs and wonders that YOU don't see are just that, true signs and wonders that YOU didn't see.

Remember, there's a promise from Jesus that signs and wonders will FOLLOW the believers... And they get to DO them... but those that tried to force him to perform signs and wonders to satisfy their own lusts only got "A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. "

Remember which of us it was that was seeking signs from the other.

That's pretty much all I need to say on that matter.

Love in Jesus,
Kelby
