One major contributor to pacifism is the pre-tribulation rapture. I'm just waiting for it to take place. Deep down, I'm not really concerned of others that won't go, I'm just waiting to be taken to heaven and get my reward.

First of all we are not robots - We were born with feelings and emotions.
Some things you have stated are fictional. This is the real word....... and it seems that you have bypassed what most people are saying..

I find this completely ignorant and annoying to be honest.
This comes back to the same point of ..... where does your relationship with Christ lie?
Is this based upon your own feelings and judgement or does the spirit of God lead your life?
Have you read the entire Bible?

I simply disagree with your statement.
Capish.
I'm afraid I do not understand. It doesn't seem wise to call someone's statement ridiculous when they have plenty of experience with a topic and you do not have any.

Thank you for proving my point.
I must apologize for the slap you silly comment. I should have said knock some sense in your head.

Also Irish Catholic is not Christian. Repent from your sins and trust in Jesus today to be forgiven. Do not trust in your good works for your salvation. You don't get to heaven because you are baptized and go to church and feed the homeless. You get to heaven by being born again in the blood of Jesus. You become a new creature and God changes you from the inside out.
I'm not Catholic, but some of the best Christians I've met were Catholic. Then there are Christians who are so heavenly minded they're no earthly good. Hopefully those people will wake up before they pray themselves into hell.

Absolutely:

"And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine,*that is*better than thou.

No, but God sure will.

Ask the religious leaders Jesus spoke to.

You should check out Isaiah 58. Some people think they're enlightened without obeying God.

Thread derailed. :D

But seriously, if you think it's okay to beat up Christians or anybody, you need to examine your walk with Christ to see if you are really following Him rather than the flesh and the world.

And some can't recognize an expression when they hear one.

I asked a brother once to help me with moving a senior in our congregation. He told me he had to pray about it first. You don't want to know what my response was, but he did apologize. He could take correction.

There are two ways to understand pacifism.

One means to reject using aggressive violence against another one who so far remained non-violent. But reserves the right of self-defence, both passive and offensive, on behalf of oneself or other ones depending on one's own help.

The other is to not act at all, even if that means that innocent ones gets slaughtered or become subject of atrocities, because one claims moral superiority by allowing the attacker to commit such atrocities without "lowering oneself to his levels". That is a shame, an offence, a disgrace. However you can chose this one without compromsing your morality only if it is your own life and well-being at risk, and nobody else's. Unless you're a hermit living in a cave one choosing this should think long and hard how their decision will affect others.

The first is someone like me. The latter is somebody who by arguing that he is a "pacifist" actively helps to create the opportunity for crime and atrocity being carried out, he does so by his passivity, and he arrogantly claims moral superiority.

One can chose to stay out of other people's conflicts and wars, for many reasons. But one should really be careful to not mistake the one form of pacifism with the other one. The first understanding of pacifism is wise. The latter is cynical, and despises the suffering and death of legions.

I believe a New Testament believer should do everything within their power to try and stop a bad person from hurting a child without using lethal force.
so now you would punch a guy?

same can be said for someone who is starving, but the moment God puts them in your path it is your responsibility to feed them. You don't see a correlation? God would have put you in both situations for a reason. You cannot just let atrocities go unhindered. Let me rephrase that= I can't.

In other words, you act like this reality is the ultimate reality.
Jason, the fact remains that if an innocent is about to be murdered right before your eyes, you don't know who was saved and who wasn't. You didn't make this man do these things, and the innocents didn't make him do those things. This man is choosing to live by the sword, it could indeed be God's will that he dies by the sword. "Your kingdom come, your will be done (ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN) we have many responsibilities. Preaching the Word, spreading the news, destroying spiritual strongholds, clothing and feeding the poor, loving our neighbors, praying for our enemies and putting others before ourselves. I think the real issue here is that you are loving the enemy more than the innocent. You are assuming that the victim will automatically get into heaven. What about righteous judgement? This man is choosing his path, he is trying to take people down with him. A gunman in a theater is capable of killing MANY people, we could be losing a dozen unsaved innocent souls to his one- very corrupt -potentially not savable soul.

I think this is an excellent way to explain my point of view. I am not actively seeking violence but if it's the only way to diffuse as situation against me, my family or others I will use it. In defense to save someone's life.

Thank you Selihah for explaining this in a way that was eluding me.

HERE PACIFIST CROWD, ADDRESS THIS

[SUP]26 [/SUP]He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

[SUP]27 [/SUP]And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

[SUP]28 [/SUP]And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

[SUP]29 [/SUP]But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

[SUP]30 [/SUP]And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

[SUP]31 [/SUP]And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

[SUP]32 [/SUP]And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

[SUP]33[/SUP]But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

[SUP]34 [/SUP]And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

[SUP]35 [/SUP]And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
[SUP]36 [/SUP]Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

ONE MORE TIME.

WHAT WAS WRITTEN IN THE LAW?
LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF
WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?
THE MAN WHO HAD COMPASSION.
JESUS CLEARLY WAS SHOWING THAT THE ASSAILANTS WEREN'T OUR NEIGHBORS, NEITHER WAS THE PRIEST OR THE LEVITE.

THE MAN WHO ACTUALLY HAD COMPASSION AND STEPPED IN WAS THE EXAMPLE OF OUR NEIGHBOR.

So the next time you want to use Jesus command "love your neighbor as yourself" don't pretend everyone is our neighbor.

That was the most ridiculous thing I have ever read.
No doubt and I agree......Just shows ignorance of historical facts......Like the Marines that swept the islands of WW2 and kept the Japanese who were murders and rapists from controlling the South Pacific....I bet the Chinese women who were being gang raped in Nanking would have loved to see the U.S. Marines had they not bled out while being tied to the chairs they were tied to when being raped repeatedly by the lines of Japanese soldiers who had lined up to take their turn....Ignorance is a virtue well know among those who are willfully ignorant!

I agree. I don't believe Jesus whipped anyone (Whereby he left them with scars) because the Jews would have used that against Him as evidence to crucifiy Him. For the Pharisees were desperately trying to pin something on Him and they really were not coming up with much.
So...I guess u disagree with scripture as MY bible teaches me that JESUS made A WHIP and DROVE the MONEY CHANGERS from to temple........The key to your lack of understanding is found in the bolded above.....That is your problem....YOU DONT BELIEVE and then you embellish to fit your own theology.

No. Joking or laughing about rape in a hypothetical scenario is wrong and sinful. Trying to defend such an action just makes it worse.
Now you speak for God and make up sins....VERSE and or SCRIPTURES...OH that's right.....you make it up as you go!

OK well I guess this forum is done. Jason you can just stand beside me and pray as I take down the person trying to kill you and other people. Have a nice day!
You cant help those who are willfully ignorant no more than you can help the heroin addict that refuses to quit buying and shooting heroin!
