Baptists consist of independent churches of believers who chose to covenant with other believers for the purpose of ministry, training and evangelism. There is no one in charge, no one over another, and no hierarchy.
I guess you didn't know that. Baptists don't believe in creeds, although one convention got a bit messed up in 2000 with their over-reaching Faith and Message, which became a creed.
Each Baptist church is independently owned and directed. But for the purpose of ministering, especially in missions, a larger body of people who contribute their knowledge and their lives results in greater results for the Great Commission.
Do you even believe in the Great Commission, SeaBass? Because if you don't believe anyone is saved, then my thought is there really is no point in going out into the world to make disciples, is there?
Really, you have a lose-lose soteriology. If you don't do the right works, you aren't saved. You can't trust in Jesus work on the cross, only your own work. So there is no point in sharing the gospel, because likely anyone you could lead to Christ probably wouldn't make it on your narrow terms.
You do know the Great Commission, right?
"And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [SUP]20 [/SUP]teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matt 28:18-20
"πορευθέντες οὖν μαθητεύσατε πάντα τὰ ἔθνη," Matt 29:19
This phrase in Greek is very interesting, because it has two verbs, πορευθέντες, (poreuthentes), and μαθητεύσατε (mathateusate). Although we seem to translate mathateusate into a noun, it is in fact an aorist imperative active, 2nd person plural. It means we are commanded to "Make disciples".
But if you don't believe anyone can be saved, likely you won't be about obeying this command to make disciples. Hmm, I guess that makes you disobedient to Jesus last command. Does that mean you lose your salvation.
Or maybe I am a bit mixed up. Maybe you are trying to make disciples to your "other" gospel, and this is the very place you have picked to do it!!
So many lost and going to hell in the world, and you choose to make disciples to your false doctrines of people who are already saved. So sad!
