They had better be or I will be lost. No one will be saved by believing in error and contradiction. How much untruth/error can one be in and still be saved?
So how about answering my questions? Christ establish man made denominations with all the contradicting faiths? The bible a book full of contradictions? The truth of Jn 17:17 contradict itself?
You seriously believe that if just one little i is not dotted or t crossed in your interpretation you are lost?

It is an open forum, so there are differences of doctrine, believers, non-believers, folks who wish to harm or destroy the faith of others, and much more.

Were it a Christian forum with one doctrine or theology, it would not be quite so unstable.

God is good all of the time. The true understanding will be understood and passed on by any who are faithful and true in his seeking. God bless you.

:) I wonder if their Bibles have Chapters and numbered verses? The Original Texts did not. Would that mean we are ALL hopelessly lost? Woe is me.............

About any forum one goes to there is rudeness. On secular forums any subject--from politics to a chili receipt--can turn nasty. Too bad it is the same on a Bible discussion forum. But it is what it is.

Over the years I've been in theological discussions with friends over many different topics and remained friends despite differences. I think this is due to the fact our discussions were face to face. It's easy to look down on someone you don't even know, but quite another thing to disparage someone you know has a strong relationship with God. Having a respect for a person totally changes the tone of the discussion.

As far as this forum goes...it's the internet and rudeness is the nature of the beast. One can't control how others act, but one can control how oneself acts. The end to rudeness begins with me, and then perhaps spread one by one to others.

i have a stupid question y'all might help me with...

what, then, is a protestant?
not RCC or Baptist, i gather from what i've read?

i'd be embarrassed, but i'm too tired.
and i trust you guys to still care about me even though i have to ask. :)

Luther was protesting against the Catholic doctrine of his day which started the reformation. The word protestant comes from the word protester or one who protests against another doctrine. Henceforth Protestants are non Catholic.

True! I paid a visit to youtube to watch a video then there was the same thing... I will not see that animosity is only in the mind of the unbelievers... The moment you watched "Noah", a movie with Russell Crowe and Anthony Hopkins, you would listen to several voices there.

It´s a pity that movie do not followed the Bible version.

Baptists consist of independent churches of believers who chose to covenant with other believers for the purpose of ministry, training and evangelism. There is no one in charge, no one over another, and no hierarchy.

I guess you didn't know that. Baptists don't believe in creeds, although one convention got a bit messed up in 2000 with their over-reaching Faith and Message, which became a creed.

Each Baptist church is independently owned and directed. But for the purpose of ministering, especially in missions, a larger body of people who contribute their knowledge and their lives results in greater results for the Great Commission.

Do you even believe in the Great Commission, SeaBass? Because if you don't believe anyone is saved, then my thought is there really is no point in going out into the world to make disciples, is there?

Really, you have a lose-lose soteriology. If you don't do the right works, you aren't saved. You can't trust in Jesus work on the cross, only your own work. So there is no point in sharing the gospel, because likely anyone you could lead to Christ probably wouldn't make it on your narrow terms.

You do know the Great Commission, right?

"And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [SUP]20 [/SUP]teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matt 28:18-20

"πορευθέντες οὖν μαθητεύσατε πάντα τὰ ἔθνη," Matt 29:19

This phrase in Greek is very interesting, because it has two verbs, πορευθέντες, (poreuthentes), and μαθητεύσατε (mathateusate). Although we seem to translate mathateusate into a noun, it is in fact an aorist imperative active, 2nd person plural. It means we are commanded to "Make disciples".

But if you don't believe anyone can be saved, likely you won't be about obeying this command to make disciples. Hmm, I guess that makes you disobedient to Jesus last command. Does that mean you lose your salvation.

Or maybe I am a bit mixed up. Maybe you are trying to make disciples to your "other" gospel, and this is the very place you have picked to do it!!

So many lost and going to hell in the world, and you choose to make disciples to your false doctrines of people who are already saved. So sad!
Very well said Sister!

Where does the bible say Christ established a "Baptist church"?
No--But Baptist teach what Jesus taught.
We did not call ourself Baptist , that what others call us, among many other names, because we would not comform the heresy that was being taught by the first established denomination--Catholism.
I know you do not beleive this, because YOU did not say it.

Everyone on this forum shows why a lot of people do not like Protestants. So much disunity on this forum it's digusting. Everyone thinking their doctrines are the only truth and that everyone who disagrees is in danger of going to Hell. Do you really believe God is that shallow to send one to Hell for misinterperting a certain verse?grow up!
I agree with you in general, but don't agree with your generalization of protestants. Rudeness shows no denominational favoritism. I do hope though a fruitful discussion proceeds as I too am bothered by the amount of rudeness in this forum.
