Actually the thread was asking to explain the trinity.

We are body, soul and spirit...but we are one entity.

GOD...came in our likeness, in the form of flesh...but there is only ONE SPIRIT and ONE GOD...regardless of three ¨persons" of that ONE entity...
miknik5 that is Oneness view of explanation...

How can Jesus be God, the Spirit be God and the Father be God?

You are talking about GOD, and MORTAL human beings do not Apply to HIM.

HE IS OMNIPRESENT in both TIME and SPACE. HE IS THE CREATOR OF EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS, and ALSO TIME ITSELF. HE IS ETERNAL, TIME AS WE KNOW IT DOES Not APPLY TO HIM.

If you need something tangible to SORT OF be like GOD, who is everywhere at the the same time, Infinitely HOLY, Infinitely all Powerful, Infinitely all KNOWING, Infinitely IN CHARGE OF THE UNIVERSE, WHO DECLARES the END FROM THE BEGINNING, ETC., ETC. and ETC., then you CANNOT PUT GOD IN A BOX, Called Time and Space. The closest Tangible thing I KNOW, would be H2O, which has THREE FORMS, WATER, ICE, and STEAM, but it is ALL H2O.

The word Father, represents his WILL, Jesus is the WORD, (made flesh) and the character of God is his SPIRIT (of Holiness). All contained in ONE.

The FATHER is called in inmate language, THE SHOT CALLER.

Yes, I used to be a Volunteer Prison Chaplain.

The Son, does not designate OFFSPRING, but rather THE ONE WHO INHERITS EVERY THING, including HIS DEITY, and does the WILL of GOD.

The HOLY SPIRIT, who inspires and equips US to do HIS WILL, starting with BELIEVE.

THE THREE ARE ONE GOD, COEQUAL.

Colossians 2:9 (NASB)
9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,

Colossians 1:18-20 (HCSB)
18 He is also the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything.
19 For God was pleased ⌊to have⌋ all His fullness dwell in Him,
20 and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross— whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Other than the Body of Jesus, GOD is NOT a Created being travelling through TIME. Learn to think of GOD as BEING OUT SIDE THE BOX, the CREATOR OF ALL THAT EXISTS INSIDE THE BOX.

Does knowledge reside in the soul?

PROVERBS 2:
10 When wisdom comes into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to your soul,
יכִּֽי־תָב֣וֹא חָכְמָ֣ה בְלִבֶּ֑ךָ וְ֜דַ֗עַת לְֽנַפְשְׁךָ֥ יִנְעָֽם:

No, it does not reside in the soul, it is pleasant to the soul.

I have answered this a few times for you now.

The soul is the non-physical part of a human. When a person dies, their soul goes either to Heaven or to Hell. Then, at the Second Coming of Christ, our body will be resurrected, and our soul reunited with our body.
^
We know this to be how the Scriptures explain.

Therefore, since the body (where the knowledge actually resides within the BRAIN/MIND) separates at death from the SOUL and later reunites at Judgement or when we get our resurrected body, the Soul reunites back to the portion where the knowledge had been kept (the physical body).

The Gnashing of teeth and where the worm crawleth and never dies is the physical body, not the soul.

Its both actually:
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
(Psalm 139:14)

Diakonos, You could very well be correct. It's hard to buy that something, only attached to our body for spiritual senses, is a vital part of anything else but being the active portion God judges us through.

But directly to your Scripture reference.
It seems as the Psalmist is giving God Praise and the soul is confirming that. To me, that is what I have been saying concerning the soul, it's the spiritual relationship point between us and God. The Holy Spirit issues our Gifts via the soul. But technically, the soul only is spiritually confirming God. And to me, that has nothing to do with our physical portion of the body.

It's like me saying from my heart and my mind, I LOVE YOU GOD! And then I have this comfort reaction where the Holy Spirit floods my soul with God's Love. But I don't experience that Love in my mind or heart, I experience that from a reactionary point of my soul where God communicates to me from. But I don't believe my soul in itself has a memory, my mind is where that memory is stored, but the soul is where God confirms/speaks/discerns at.

Knowledge RESIDES IN THE HUMAN SPIRIT.

Yes Knowledge Resides in the Human Brain TOO.

If you are BORN AGAIN, those two will be at WAR. The Human Spirit wants to do what Pleases the LORD, while the will of the Human Brain wants to do the will of the FLESH.

Is that Human Brain the SOUL? I would say it is, here is JESUS explaining the Soul is wanting to do the wrong thing:

Luke 12:17-20 (NASB77)
17 "And he began reasoning to himself, saying, 'What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?'
18 "And he said, 'This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 'And I will say to my soul, "
Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."'
20 "But God said to him, ' You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?'

HERE IS PAUL REASONING WITH HIS BORN AGAIN HUMAN SPIRIT.

Romans 7:14-25 (HCSB)
14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am made out of flesh, sold into sin’s power.
15 For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate.
16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree with the law that it is good.
17 So now I am no longer the one doing it, but it is sin living in me.
18 For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me {your human spiritual mind}, but there is no ability to do it.
19 For I do not do the good that I want to do {your human spiritual mind}, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do.
20 Now if I do what I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but it is the sin that lives in me.
21 So I discover this principle: When I want to do what is good {your human spiritual mind}, evil is with me.
22 For in my inner self I joyfully agree with God’s law.
23 But I see a different law in the parts of my body, waging war against the law of my mind {your human spiritual mind} and taking me prisoner to the law of sin in the parts of my body.
24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this dying body?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I myself am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh, to the law of sin.

Now HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS. AS you mature spiritually, your human spirit will get stronger and stronger as you feed on the WORD OF GOD. Eventually it will become more, and more dominate over the will of the flesh. To where the human spirit will win more battles with the will of the flesh. Is it possible to STOP SINNING? No in this BODY that has a SIN NATURE in it, but it is possible for the will of the human spirit to win most of the battles.

For those who think they have stopped sinning, I got news for you, YOU NEED TO STUDY WHAT ALL GOD CALLS SIN.

James 2:8-10 (NIV)
8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing right.
9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

1 Peter 2:13-17 (NKJV)
13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme,
14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.
15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men--
16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

Here are some Ordinances of man that you have NOT THOUGHT OF AS SIN but according to James 2:10 it is:

Do you believe that the soul is completely separate from the mind?

Or do you believe that they overlap in some ways? (if yes, then which one is an extension of the other?)

if you think 1 peter 2 13 means submit to mans law then you will not be able to comply with most the rest of the bible. half the roman emperiors got to power through wicked scheming or either straight up murdering the previous emperor. Caligula wanted people to worship him as a god, these were some pretty sick, twisted, evil men. you really think Peter is saying we should submit to that?

No the SOUL IS THE MIND, EVERY THING THAT is PART OF THE BODY IS NOT TANGIBLE ENOUGH TO LOOK AT UNDER A MICROSCOPE.

The HUMAN SPIRIT MUST BE BORN AGAIN by the HOLY SPIRIT TO HAVE LIFE ETERNALLY.

Haven't you ever wondered what HE MEANT by WE WERE ONCE DEAD?

Colossians 2:13 (HCSB)
13 And when you were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive with Him and forgave us all our trespasses.

That is the Human Spirit, because this Body and Soul were alive at NATURAL BIRTH. The so-called spark of LIFE is in the SOUL TOO.

Joshua 11:14 (NJB)
14 All the spoils of these towns, including the livestock, the Israelites took as booty for themselves. But they put all the human beings to the sword till they had destroyed them completely; they did not leave a living soul.

Not everyone was BORN AGAIN, but EVERYONE was a LIVING SOUL. So it is not the LIVING SPIRIT that HE is talking about.

1 Corinthians 15:46 (HCSB)
46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, then the spiritual.

YOU SEE, the Natural Man is made up of the BODY and SOUL. SOUL is the sum total of every part of the BODY that you cannot look at under a microscope: mind, emotions, feelings, cognitive abilities, spark of life, pain, satisfied, hunger, etc. THAT IS SOUL, and it a alive at Natural BIRTH.

John 3:6 (HCSB)
6 Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.

The body is made up of tangible part you can look at under a microscope,
AND parts you cannot look at under the microscope = Body and Soul.

The mind is where humans justify, think, create, reason, understand, process, scheme, deceive, decide (to help).

An unsaved person can justify not believing in God because they help others and do good. But that is more because their mind understands by doing these things they equal themself to God. And they are trained by seeing others help, so they can choose to follow that example.

We Believers on the other hand, can feel convicted by choosing not to help. This is SOUL. It's a direct connection to God through the Holy Spirit. When we choose in our minds to not help, to ignore, to do wrong, our SOUL speaks to our Consciousness. Our own Consciousness then sends thoughts and feelings to both our thinking portion of the brain and to our heart where our emotions come from.

Therefore, if the Soul is connected to the mind at any specific place, it's within our Consciousness. But, I do not believe the SOUL is part of the mind, I believe it is a function designed for God to speak to us by thoughts and emotions from the Consciousness.

When we were convicted and chose to be accept Christ for Salvation, it took place first within the SOUL, and then from there went to our Consciousness. So, the SOUL and Mind are separate, but the SOUL converses with the Consciousness, and then that travels to the thinking side/reasoning side of the Brain and then it goes full blown to our heart where our emotions make us feel guilty, good, happy, elated, relieved, etc.
