The mind is where humans justify, think, create, reason, understand, process, scheme, deceive, decide (to help).
An unsaved person can justify not believing in God because they help others and do good. But that is more because their mind understands by doing these things they equal themself to God. And they are trained by seeing others help, so they can choose to follow that example.
We Believers on the other hand, can feel convicted by choosing not to help. This is SOUL. It's a direct connection to God through the Holy Spirit. When we choose in our minds to not help, to ignore, to do wrong, our SOUL speaks to our Consciousness. Our own Consciousness then sends thoughts and feelings to both our thinking portion of the brain and to our heart where our emotions come from.
Therefore, if the Soul is connected to the mind at any specific place, it's within our Consciousness. But, I do not believe the SOUL is part of the mind, I believe it is a function designed for God to speak to us by thoughts and emotions from the Consciousness.
When we were convicted and chose to be accept Christ for Salvation, it took place first within the SOUL, and then from there went to our Consciousness. So, the SOUL and Mind are separate, but the SOUL converses with the Consciousness, and then that travels to the thinking side/reasoning side of the Brain and then it goes full blown to our heart where our emotions make us feel guilty, good, happy, elated, relieved, etc.

When we die, the portions of our body that think, create, reason, etc plus the heart where the emotions come from are all buried. But the SOUL moves on. So the Soul is God's Creative speaking point. If we Believe in God, we Believe first from our Consciousness. If we do not believe, we do so from our Consciousness. Once we shut the SOUL down, our Consciousness stops speaking to us. It's why humans can murder and feel justified. But for the Believer, doing wrong results in God speaking to our SOUL, who speaks to our Consciousness, and then we ask for forgiveness.
