I don't preach as I'm not in the conversion business. The business I am involved is showing that you can believe in a literal god and not be an idiot like most wannabe Christian arewho swallow what other feet them without question.

1Th:5:21:
Prove all things;
hold fast that which is good.

What are you doing here that a few referenced from God's book has you calling me a heretic. The ones afraid of the verses usually turn out to be trolls or false christian or both.

By 'end times' do you mean like this reference??

De:4:30:
When thou art in tribulation,
and all these things are come upon thee,
even in the latter days,
if thou turn to the LORD thy God,
and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
De:4:31:
(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;)
he will not forsake thee,
neither destroy thee,
nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

Insults assure me you are fighting a losing battle.....Where are your fruits, sir? Instead of trying to get the stick out of your brothers eye, you might want to get the plank that is in your eye out, and possibly the one up your butt.....

Untrue. I've walked away three times. And I was still a Christian.

Came back for obvious reasons. God doesn't really let his people walk away for good. As hard as I tried, (and I really am bullheaded, so gave full effort in trying), I could not deny God is. And that God deserves to be glorified. So, I walked, but he Prodigal Fathered my return. And I Prodigal Sonned while I was gone.
No, I meant permanently walk away.

Walk trough the valley

"None of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself that I might finish my course with Joy."
Those reasons could apply to the son of perdition, a French word that means losted, but lusted would be a better translation.
(There are a few words that were not translated properly to avoid arguments, likely the case here, another is Baptise: a Greek word that means immersed, left in Greek not to cause arguments with the church at the time: "believe and be immersed in the name (identity of the fullness of the Godhead bodily): Jesus," was not practiced.
Back to the son of lust: he would not give up his own life,
was inconsistent (double minded),
would not consider the consequences of being nothing: "Without love I am nothing."
(The miracles may have made the difference for us who believe, and God's character: that His mercy endures for ever)
but for the sun of lust its contrary to him to believe in the grace of God:
God would have to be a reflection of his powerless character, since he took after the enemy who wanted to be God.
I should point out that the son of perdition refers to living after the flesh, "If you live after the flesh you will die."

What would you say if I told you that after I walked away from God (For 2-3 years) I joined in with many ex-Christians online and atheists, and non believers. That I found that their testimonies and reasons for leaving Christianity were very good reasons.

Here are the top reasons people leave Christianity

Number 1. Christians
Number 2. Biblical inconsistencies
Number 3. Hell theology
Number 4. Lack of miracles
Number 5. Gods character

Of course there are many other reasons people leave their beliefs, but lets stick to these 5.

In my entire history with Christianity and the church, I have never heard any plausible reasoning in defense of these problems Christianity faces today. Oh there are so called answers, but they fall totally flat under careful scrutiny.

So how does one give a reasoned and sound answer to these things that make people leave God.

Hi finaldesire,

Jesus gave 3 reasons or examples of how or why people fall away or leave Christianity. So your 5 top reasons will all fall into this parable.

1. They don't understand and the enemy steals away they gospel they've heard preached.
2. Affliction or persecution.
3. Worry and the deceitfulness of money.

Matthew 13:18-23
“Hear then the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away. And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

The excuses that others give of leaving Christianity is because they lack faith to really believe. You list 5 reasons, but they are really excuses of why they've left or why they don't believe. Dig a little deeper and you'll find one of the 3 that are listed above which all boils down to a lack of faith in God.

You can call this flat if you'd like, but I will believe and follow the Lord because I love Him and because He loves me and He loved me first. If the words of Jesus aren't enough for you, maybe you will come up with another reason to add to your top 5 of why people leave Christianity.

The question is: will you be one of them? I hope not!

Yes, because I need the stick up mine. (Many people have told me I dance like I have a stick there, soooo, okay. As long as I can dance, I don't care if the stick is required. lol)

You can try but God will just judge you as a member of the 7 churches that still needs to overcome certain things. If you walk away from a church that is sin you get rewarded for that move. Such as Satan's Kingdom.

Re:18:4:
And I heard another voice from heaven,
saying,
Come out of her,
my people,
that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Sorry to hear that Ariel. I thought you were a believer in eternal security.
Oh I do believe In eternal security. The kidnapped kids are still the Father's but I explained why people "walk away from God"...they are chasing after kidnappers' candy and believe their lies.....until they are placed in chains and sold into slavery. Then they cry out to God to save them.

Do they still believe in God or are they unbelievers?

I walk away from God for 5 years because of life circumstances, was I unsaved at that time?
Why does little kids take candy from strangers and get kidnapped?

Remember the parable Jesus spoke about the prodigal son....what did the son do, he took what was his and went and lived foolishly off of it and I imagine he sinned ALOT while he was living so vicariously, and it eventually ended up with him having to literally eat with the hogs....but the moral of the point is, Yes he went away, yes he sinned, but he was STILL the son of the father, and that's a great parallel to us as Christians and children of God. We sometimes disobey God, and he will punish us accordingly, but at the end of the day, we are still saved children of God!

Heb 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Like candy sin seems pleasurable for a while. Moses recognized the temptation and the consequences.

James 1:13-17
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
KJV
I wonder how many people even know that verse is in the Bible?

It saddens me when I see Christians blame God for the evil in the world as if it's His will.

Death was because of Sin of Adam and Eve. God earned them not to eat but allows them and us free will to CHOSE RIGHT OR WRONG. Will we follow God or the World?

However God sent us Jesus His Son to be our second Adam and allows us to be born again and OVERCOME death.

What a great miracle that many are too blind to see and thank God for.

id suggest these hypothetical kids like sweets
and arent wise enough to determine what could go wrong (in most cases)

and these hypothetical strangers have a different intention than to just share candy

Yet when we are small children we don't understand and can be lured away from the protection of our Heavenly Father...so much so we get angry with God for forbidding us our lusts and sinful desires....we get entrapped by lies and build up spiritual strongholds in our hearts and minds that war against God's wisdom and power and love for us...we run away instead of towards our loving Father because we believe lies of His true nature.

Yet that isn't what you said or what the OP is talking about.

He said he walked away and has been called back.

Y'all are kind of being meenies to the OP and I would probably throw some popcorn at yall, but I gotta make the kids some dinner.

We should be throwing a party that a prodigal son has returned but reading through this thread, I see why so many would just run the other direction...so many bitter elder sons...thank God the Father greets us first.

I was hoping for a testimony of how God called him out of the pigeon back to his wonderful light and love....but I guess I will keep having to wait.

i think we gotta make a distinction between someone God actually started in

and someone who has knowledge of God

believes of God

but is never born again

God is protective over His children

they wont get taken from Him

but if He calls a child to come to Him

is it possible they never make it?

ya
i think so

unless He goes to them to take them with Him

Exactly, there are MANY people who believe in God, the Word even tells us the demons even acknowledge and know who Christ is....but they aren't saved. And there are many in this world like that
