Everyone is having so much fun...I hesitate to post.

Would hate to burst any bubbles or log cabins.....

But I don't think there are mansions in Heaven or log cabins...those are metaphoric for our new heavenly bodies.

And treasure in Heaven are our good deeds done in His name on Earth. The only reward worth having is hearing "you have done well" from God.

Why desire material wealth in Heaven?

Hello Ariel,

Actually, the word is "moné" which is defined as (lodging, dwelling-place, room, abode, mansion). Also, the scripture is a promise from the Lord, not only to the disciples, but to all believers. John 14:1-3 is the promise to come and take all believers back to the Father's house in those new heavenly bodies and 1 Thes.4:13-18 and 1 Cor.15:51-53 is the actual event of when the Lord comes for us. According to his promise, when Jesus left, he went to prepare those dwelling places in the Father's house (heaven) and he coming to gather us and take us back to those dwelling places. After God's wrath has been poured out upon the earth, then we will return with Christ at the end of the age and will rule with him during his thousand year reign.

And treasure in Heaven are our good deeds done in His name on Earth. The only reward worth having is hearing "you have done well" from God
Actually, we will inherit many things belonging to Christ. In the letters to the churches, for those who overcome, he lists some of those rewards:

1). To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

2). The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.

3). To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

4). To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ —just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star.

5). The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.

6). Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

7). The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.

8). To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.

The above are just some of the rewards that we will acquire belonging to Christ, but I believe that we cannot imagine all that we will inherit until we get there.

then I can only assume your thoughts of Heaven is of new heavenly bodies floating in the mist of nothing in front of God

[h=1]Revelation 4

Later I looked again, and before my eyes a door stood open in Heaven, and in my ears was the voice with the ring of a trumpet, which I had heard at first, speaking to me and saying, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen in the future.”

2-6a
Immediately I knew myself to be inspired by the Spirit, and in my vision I saw a throne had been set up in Heaven, and there was someone seated upon the throne. His appearance blazed like diamond and topaz, and all around the throne shone a halo like an emerald rainbow. In a circle around the throne there were twenty-four thrones and seated upon them twenty-four elders dressed in white with golden crowns upon their heads. From the central throne come flashes of lightning, noises and peals of thunder. Seven lamps are burning before the throne, and they are the seven Spirits of God. In front of the throne there appears a sea of glass as clear as crystal.

6b-8
On each side, encircling the throne, are four living creatures covered with eyes in front and behind. The first living creature is like a lion, the second is like a calf, the third has a face like a man, and the fourth living creature appears like an eagle in flight. These four creatures have each of them six wings and are covered with eyes, all around them, and even within them.[/h]lets list some Material items mentioned
door
throne
golden crowns
lamps

are these simple metaphors?

I don't desire material wealth in heaven, but if mansions or houses are there waiting for us, I'd like mine to be a humble log cabin, not a big mansion built of gold. :)

Here is some scriptures :)
Rom 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Mat 25:23 His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.
Mat 13:43 Then the righteous shall shine out like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
1Co 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh; but one kind of flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another of fish, and another of birds.
1Co 15:40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the glory of the heavenly is truly different, and that of the earthly different;
1Co 15:41 one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
1Co 15:42 So also the resurrection of the dead.

In all seriousness .... one treasure I would really love to receive would be lots of time just sitting cross-legged at the feet of Jesus with Him teaching me things.

I think of some of the things he taught Job ... like raindrops being measured out and storehouses for storms and just want to know MORE!

Ariel82....Heaven can wait....at this moment we have work to do to help bring Heaven just a little closer. We get glimpses of heaven now and then as the Father allows us to. It may be found in a song, a child's eyes, and elderly person's smile, a sweet hug, a tender touch, or even laughter. Yes, I do take the very words of JESUS very seriously. What would we not? Being the Carpenter that HE was and IS, we do have the satisfaction of knowing that HE has gone to prepare a place for us....Heaven itself already exists, so HIS personal preparation within heaven has to be extraordinary beyond our wildest imagination. Keep in mind, material wealth does not exist in heaven. There is no corporate ladder to climb. There are no banking facilities or investing companies needed there. Jesus has already invested in us. We are the beneficiaries.
