two translation questions?

Awhile ago I heard a pastor speaking to the origial meanings of these two words and I wondered if any here could verify this for me.

First, was that the name satan meant to condemn.
Second, that rightousness derived from faith.

Thankyou to any who can shed some understanding on this. :)

The Bible does call Satan the accuser of the brethen. The only way to obtain righteousness is by faith. Faith lays hold of the promises of God.

Hello my sister in Jesus! From Hebrew, satan means simply adversary or enemy. Righteous is tzadek, and faith is amen, not to be confused with the homonym, amen, which may mean truth or believed. The latter words are related. Anyone wishing to add to this from their own knowledge and education, by all means, please do. God bless you always in Jesus Christ, amen.

If you look at Zechariah 3, you will see how Satan was there to accuse Jesus (Joshua) the high priest. Accuser is just one of the Adversary's titles.

Only used in The New Testament, and with good reason too.

One who attacks the reputation of another by slander or libel

A false accusation of an offense or a malicious misrepresentation of someone's words or actions

How many times do we see this done on here?
And people are not even aware of it.

He attacks The Name (Nature, Authority, and Character) of Christ

Then takes the Word spoken and Twist it to the hearer, so that offense
can come in the person who hears.

We must be so careful, and not allow him to do this.

No wonder The Lord warned us:

Luk 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
