From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV
If we behave ourselves, we have heaven now.

If a person refuses to repent, how can he know?

a taste of heaven, perhaps... but we are still a ways off from the real deal - "at hand" can be translated as "now", but the same phrase has also been translated as "near". you are right - life is SO much better when we put our faith in God and truly repent.

but I have never been able to "behave myself". It wasn't until Christ came into my life that I could even give "behaving" a sincere effort, and it is only through His efforts in my life that I have had any success at all. In essence, it is HE that is behaving me, not myself.

Are you blind or can't you read? If you can't see it now what faith are you of man or God's.

Your theory fails with Job. He was "good" before satan was allowed to test him, and he went through a long time with torment before he was blessed again. You make it sound like if we obey God our lives will be happy clappy, this is a dangerous claim to make if new christians are around. Qhat will they think if they go their best to be good and life goes bad, and you tell them things going bad means we are not behaving? If their life is worse than yours, does that make them worse people than you?

If we don’t sin, trouble doesn’t enter our lives. That is heaven.

The Lord forgives us for our sins, but he also disciplines us for our sins. If we don’t sin, we escape the discipline, which can be very harsh if our sin persists and grows.

No, heaven is here:

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 3:2 RSV

We are all our tested, but if your faith is sound, you continue to enjoy your life no matter what your circumstances. I remember once you pointed out to me that we are tested. I responded by telling you that we are merely learning new things. And so it is.

that's a huge lie. Sin is here to stay. nobody is capable of not sinning. if we were capable of that, why would Jesus have needed to die for us?

Why would Paul, a man who was generally accepted as truly following Christ (and wrote a good portion of the bible) have said in 1 Timothy 1:15:
"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst."

note the language - of whom I am the worst, not I was. present tense.

why would the bible also say "If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us"? (1 John 1:8)

it doesn't say "had no sin". it says have. present tense.

do not shout at me....

What res is claiming is that people are able to not sin at all, and that while they do not sin, nothing bad happens. Job faced those things because he was doing what was pleasing to God, because the devil claimed he would stop doing it if things went bad. Thus I pointed out bad stuff do happen even when we "behave"

It is the truth. When we repent, things no longer trouble us. Our faith is unchallenged.

That makes no sense. If we dont sin. nothin bad will ever happen to us??? that just silly
It doesn’t matter if bad things happen or not. Once we repent, bad things don’t bother us.
