"Unity at the local church level" doesn't fly. You can have a local church who are in 100% agreement, but what they agree on may be false.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables." 2 Timothy 4:3-4

But unity at the local church level is what is called for in the NT. It's in churches.

Unity across millions of believers all over the world? Only achieveable thru churches that go back to the bible.

How's that workin'? There will never be unity in the churches. For one, there are too many tares. You can't have unity between tares and wheat.

Why not? It makes more sense than believing somehow magically all the tares will vanish and the wheat will all attain unity among themselves. The Lord told us there would always be tares.

The unity of all the disconnected people worldwide will be on a spiritual level. It will be a state of maturity attained in Christ and in sound doctrine. In that sense I do believe God's word is very important. But even in churches that say they "go back to the Bible," a lot of them are very far off course.

This is true. Of course.. where does the sound doctrine come from? The source is from God through the bible, preached in the local church primarily.

Well, on this we'll just have to disagree. You can hear sound doctrine in some churches but in a lot of 'em you're in more danger of being led astray than if you just study the Bible on your own and let God teach you. I'm all for the local church, I just don't agree it's the only way to go.
