...so yes the old saints are called elders....because we cam steady the young ones.

Is there something we as born again believers (really ANYONE) can do to change the way we feel in the long run? The answer is a resounding YES!

Romans 10: 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Where is the word FIRST? Paul tells us it is in our mouth first. THEN it gets into our heart. WE get God's word into our heart by SAYING IT. And SAYING it, and SAYING it. "Faith comes from hearing" and what better way to hear than to say it ourselves?

For example, you could begin saying a hundred times a day, "Thank God, I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!"

Then do this: whenever you say something stop immediately and ask yourself: do I was much more of what I just said? If yes, then STOP SAYING IT! Have you not read?

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Notice that last phrase: people get what they say! If you wish to change, first change your WORDS!
Yes, good word.

To add, my life for those 4 months has been work and bible. It's all I did. I was advised to go on walks, which I very rarely did. I have also lost a great deal of sleep, and have tried Advil PM and anther pill, but they didn't help much. I don't have near the zeal for God I did. My mind is changing a bit as well.
I have told dozens of people a little secret.( and none i told have ever done it...that i know of)

Go to ebay and grab a dvd.
" the new testament by Alexander Scorby"

Play it nonstop. Never turn it off.
At first it will seem to disrupt sleep. Then , bye and bye, a new sleep develops. Restful and life giving

But get some joy in the meantime.

Once you learn to " turn on joy" your walk will instantly become victorious"

And listening to voices of people posting "cures " for you on this forum will have you going in a hundred directions.

Keep it simple. You are not Job. You are "pilgrim" in pilgrims progress.

You listen...learn...graduate that trial...and go to the next trial.

Trials will come. Valleys

Victories and exaultation will come. Mountaintop.

Learn Joy and stepping into Gods promises. ....as lamad told you

All we really HAVE to do is walk with Jesus.

Keep it simple.
There is a beautiful expression...ENJOY THE RIDE.

i think it is 1 peter 4 that says rejoice when trials come.

Good afternoon. I grew up christian, but didn't go to church, didn't live much different. September last year I started going to church.(OPC)
I went for about 2.5-3 months, and started praying, and then the Holy Spirit came into my life. For the first 2 weeks, I was just IN LOVE with God.
I stopped swearing very quickly, the hate in my heart went away, my talk otherwise cleaned up. That went away, (being IN LOVE with God, I think Satan got involved) and I got very anxious and depressed. I cut out everything bad in my life that were obvious, visible sins. Stopped watching ungodly TV, radio, etc. Looked away from any woman when driving down the road. I still struggled, but overall I was really trying, which might have fed my pride, which I prayed about.
There were times of great peace, when I truly felt like everything made sense, Christ died for my sins,etc. I confessed my sins and the guilt started going away, though I don't know if I have saving faith. I was starting to walk in grace a bit, when I realized I made a mistake, I'd confess it. I tended to focus on the worst versus in the Bible, Parable of the Sower, Hebrews 10:26, etc. I also just started reading The Pilgrims Progress, and the man in the cage stood out to me. On Thursday (last week), I was on my phone, and got this conviction that I shouldn't be. I finished the email and repented, but everything felt HORRIBLE. Like the Holy Spirit had left me. I feel hard. For a few days, I felt extremely empty, but now I feel sort of normal. I've struggled I feel very convinced that I'm hell bound. I've talked to 3 pastors and another man I trust, and they think I'll be fine. They mostly think that 10:26 applies to apostacy, but the way it reads, I don't like it. What are your thoughts?. Thank you
Hebrews 10:26 jives with Acts 5 Ananias and Sapphria
The calvinists don't like these verses/chapters :p

What this means is that salvation is a mystery. Do not lose your fear of God. Keep working out your salvation in fear and trembling.
Salvation is both an occurrence and a lifetime process. It is not just boom Im saved cause he chose me. And it is not just, yup, I did enough good works I'm saved. What is it then? Is it both? how does it work? the answer is that it is a mystery. don't quantify your salvation like you are counting change.

Keep on the path and stay the course. Persevere. Good question to be asking.

One final note: Some days we need to hear Philipians 1:6
but then there are other days where we need to hear Hebrews 10:26. We need it all!

Was this conviction because of what you were doing on your phone, or because of something you should have been doing instead?

If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire." - 1 Cor 3:13-15
I was looking up a personal email. Not anything inappropriate, but wasting company time. I'm afraid that He was calling me to repentance in that moment, and I failed. I have since failed in fighting sin, which scares me all the more.

10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

The key word in v26 is willfully. That means that some people actually choose to walk away from Jesus. Read all verses in context. Verse 29 goes on to further describe these people. Yes, they are Apostates who have known the Way and chosen to depart. You should not dislike a thing just because you don't understand it. It is Satan who seeks to confuse us, not God. Seek truth and understanding. God wants all of us to have it. God wants all of us to have that blessed assurance; that He will never leave us nor forsake us. If you stumble (and we all do), just go to Him with a humble spirit and confess. He longs to restore your peace. This is not the apostacy that Hebrews 10:26 speaks of. Let no man or devil deceive you. Godspeed.

He is not as hard on you as you are.

A holy walk is imperative.
None of us can do it outside the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit leads us to Jesus and ASSISTS us in walking holy.

Your remedy is getting on fire for Jesus.

Always has been
Always will be.

None of us would sin while sitting in HIS lap.

All sin is done outside his heart and presence.

Get that dvd i told you about.

Either take steps or stay like you are

Think of the Christian walk as a tightrope walker. Keeping our eyes on Jesus but there is ALWAYS a safety net underneath for when we fall. Or think of our security is a matter of Him holding our hand, more than how tightly we hold His.

This is a warning to those who at the time were tempted to turn back to animal sacrifices/Levitical system, due to the mounting persecution against Christians. Paul was saying that if you do that, there is no forgiveness in the blood of bulls and goats.
The Book of Hebrews pretty much covers that theme...How we have a BETTER covenant, better Priesthood, better Promises etc.

Hebrews 10:26 separated from the context looks terrifying. I get that! But since so many others have rightly pointed out what this verse means I'll leave it at that.

Remember, if you sin, you have an advocate with the Father: Jesus Christ the righteous.

1 John 2:1-2
1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

I would disagree with the poster who said we cannot be lost. However, Hebrews 10:26 is talking about intentionally sinning on a continual basis: "For if we go on sinning deliberately. . . " It's talking about someone who's making a mockery of Christ's sacrifice for us.

The Christian life is a constant series of us sinning and asking God's forgiveness. This can be very unpleasant at times, but it's just how it is. God wants us to turn to Him when we sin; it's only when we give up and turn our backs on Him that we should worry. If you can get to the place where you accept yourself as a sinner and can turn to Him for forgiveness, you'll truly know God's love and grace.

Hebrews 10.26 is not addressing the body of Christ ..Eph 430 ,Eph 1 13 is to the body of Christ . We are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. We cannot be lost .

Who would you think that it would be addressing, unbelievers who don't read God's word?

The sealing of the Holy Spirit and all of the other promises are dependent upon faith. For we are saved by grace through faith. If a believer wanders away from that and goes back to willfully living according to the sinful nature, in that state they are accumulating sin and are on their way to death.

We're not saved regardless of how we live or what we do.

Those who told you that Heb.10:26 is referring to apostasy are correct.

As believers, we are being transformed into the image of Christ which is a life-long process. We are always in the process of overcoming the acts of the sinful nature, which is what the letters to the seven churches is about, i.e. overcoming. As the scripture states, 'if we claim that we have no sin (as believers) we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."

However, Heb.10:26 is not talking about the sins we commit out of weakness while we walk in Christ, but is speaking about those who would turn back to willfully, purposely live according to the sinful nature. Notice the word used in the beginning of the verse:

"If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth"

It is speaking in reference to abandoning ones faith and going back to willfully living according to the sinful nature and remaining in and and dying in that state. Consider the following scritpure:

"My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, consider this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover over a multitude of sins. ."

James says "My brothers" which would be addressing believers, men and woman. Notice that the person in that wandered state is accumulating a multitude of sins and is on their way to death. However, if they turn back, repenting of it, God will forgive them covering over a multitude of sins that they would have accumulated in that state.

The important thing to remember here, is that the scripture is not speaking about believers who sin as they continue in their walk in Christ. Those who do so confess them and continue on knowing that they are forgiven because the blood of Christ covers them.

"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us."

If your heart is turned to God and you are walking in Christ, then when you sin, confess it and move on, knowing that you have been forgiven. Remember Satan can can attempt to make you believe otherwise.

Anyone who says that he commits no sin as a believer in Christ is deceiving themselves. The sinful nature will always be with us until the Lord comes to gather His church, where at which time we will become immortal and glorified. In the mean time, the believer is being transformed into the image of Christ. But you can't do that if you turn back into the world, deliberately fulfilling the desires of the sinful nature and remaining there.

Salvation is the starting line.

The saved feeling unsaved is a little different.

No thats the spin people put on the ' sealing of the Holy Spirit UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION. It doesn't say ' until we sin lots , or ' until we wander 'ect . This is forced into the text. Just like 'Nothing can separate you from the love of God " What gets forced into these verses is " ah but we can separate ourselves " ' Ah but we can jump out of his hand " , Its like the verses cannot possibly mean what they say . The doctrine of conditional salvation gets forced into every assurance verse.

The “we” in every place identifies a HEBREW who is writing to Hebrews.

The verses are aimed at tribulation Jews according to the quotations given from the Old Testament (Deut. 32:30–36).

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (vs. 31). Not at all, if “his people” is a reference to saved Christians in the church; not at all, not in the least since the saints are in His hands (Deut. 33) and cannot be taken out (John 10) and the ones in THIS age are PART OF HIS HANDS (see 1 Cor. 12:18–26), there could be no better place to be in this world than in “the hands of the living God.”
“his people” in a letter written to “Hebrews” was to the JEWS (exactly as James writes: James 1:1)
