Admitidly that last one isn't about us being baptized though. As for your question what in Christ means if I had to say it is about relying totally on him and in what he did on the cross taking the focus completely off of us and our own efforts
Oh wow I thought this was the water baptism thread:ROFL:

Peterlag you dont need to add anyone's confusion by repeating weird doctrines someone else may have taught someone else and then end up confusing more people. Just let them go.

oh and maybe think about get baptised...its actually a GOOD thing. Also you can have a party afterwards to celebrate. Its good in summer too as it will cool you off. Hey why bring up the topic if God wasnt leading you to post about it?

I often find if somethings been weighing on my mind I need to look further in to what God says about it.
Maybe someone else will have a scripture to share I had not read or really studied before.
I dont come on BDF looking to confuse people.

Let's start with you. What does in Christ mean?
Christ means the anointed teacher, the Holy Spirit of God in respect to our father not seen One is the teacher as Lord .Call no man on earth good teaching Master as Lord.

When Jesus was accused of being the one and only Good Master as a daysman. . . a infallible fleshly judge that umpires between man seen and God not seen. Jesus gave glory to unseen father. he would be represented as a abomination of desolation. . things seen in the holy place of faith. the unseen.

The Son of man has no power of his own to forgive men or rebuke the spirit of lies .

Luke 18:17-19 King James Version (KJV) Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

God is not a man

The lord worked in the son of man, Jesus. Giving him as a "apostle" words from the father the teacher. We lean from the unseen father just as the Son of man Jesus did also .

John6:44-45 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

The context I wrote in is Romans 7 where Paul talks about what occurs to the believer who still thinks the Law applies to them. They end up spiritually dying by the commandment and realize that the commandment does not produce life. The war is with their flesh because they are still believing the Law has power over them. In the eighth chapter of Romans is where it explains how we overcome this whole issue by living in the spirit and being dead to the Law. We cannot live by faith in what Christ has done for us and still think our obedience to written laws are necessary. To do so takes away from the perfect work of Christ and places salvation and righteousness back in our own hands. I can't help you any further if you do not understand what I just wrote.
And my reply addressed the fact that for some reason you believe that those of us who heed God's warnings to us, are somehow living as the Romans 7 person you describe and not as the Romans 8 person you describe.

Let's start with you. What does in Christ mean?
short version ... "in Christ" = life; without Christ = no life.

Colossians 3:

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

If you want longer version, let me know.

If what you call heeding God's warnings is the same as my concept of following the old testament law. Then yes Romans 7 is the chapter that is used often by Christians who tell me they must continue to follow the law.

He was not attacking you and I have told you before Peter you have not graduated from the bible because it actually does speak of it

1 Peter 3:20-22

who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water. Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.

Acts 10:47

“Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?

1 John 5:6

This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
They did refuse the water in Acts 10: 47 because they did not baptise in water in verse 48. Your grasping at straws.

Also note how the number eight is used here don't think it odd he mentions the ark flood and specifically how 8 people were saved?
The number eight in the bible is used to mean new life or rebirth, I do apologize for accidently posting this in the wrong the thread if you wish to continue we can do so on your thread for it.

If what you call heeding God's warnings is the same as my concept of following the old testament law. Then yes Romans 7 is the chapter that is used often by Christians who tell me they must continue to follow the law.
Here is a sampling of what I refer to as "God's warnings":

Romans 12:1-2 beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 13:12-14 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Romans 14:13, 19 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. ... 19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

1 Corinthians 3:10-11 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Galatians 5:13-16 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Ephesians 4:17, 22, 25-31

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, ...

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; ...

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice

There are many more warnings ... just giving some examples from the first 4 epistles ...

Let's take the first one first. Does Romans 12:1 mean to renew the mind by cleaning up our old man dead nature so as to struggle daily to be more like Jesus? Or does to renew the mind mean to put on the new man in Christ?

Then you purposely ignore it or are not as well versed in understanding scripture as you think. I even made the main point in bold for you, it speaks of baptism not for getting dirt off our flesh but for an appeal good conscious to God through the ressurection of Jesus Christ. so either you just ignore it or perhaps you see it disproves you and cannot admit it
