Romans 13: 1 says, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” Similarly, Daniel 2:21 says, “[God] …removes kings and sets up kings…”

There are those who will assert that ANYONE who is in authority has God’s blessing, and we are not to question what they say or do, instead, we are to do what they say. They would have you believe that God has given them the authority by virtue of Romans 13: 1.

But there are writers who say that Romans 13: 1 is not talking about being subject to the person in authority, rather it says to be subject to the office itself, for in any nation under God, it is the office that has a direct link to God, not the person. Daniel 2:21 bears this out since it says that God will replace those who are in office if they do not administer in a righteous manner.

In the Book of Jonah, God was ready to obliterate the Ninevans, including the king. Under the king’s authority the people had sinned, making a mockery of the office of authority under God. It was only when the king showed repentance and commanded the people to do the same, that the Ninevans were spared.

The Book of Kings is full of kings who did evil in the sight of God. For example, consider this passage from 1 Kings 15:25-28—“Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. HE DID WHAT WAS EVIL IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin which he made Israel to sin. Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him. And Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon. SO BAASHA KILLED [NADAB] IN THE THIRD YEAR OF ASA KING OF JUDAH AND REIGNED IN HIS PLACE.” In accordance with Daniel 2:21, God had a hand in replacing this king. BTW, Verse 29 says “And as soon [Baasha] he was king, HE KILLED ALL THE HOUSE OF JEROBOAM.”

And who is to say that God didn’t have a hand in replacing Hitler and devastating Germany under him? So, we who live under God must be watchful as to who takes the helm of the office of the governing authority. George Harrison, who wrote and performed a song called “My Sweet Lord,” wrote another song called “Beware of Darkness.” One of the lyrics is as follows: “Watch out now, take care beware of greedy leaders, they take you where you should not go.” He may have gotten the inspiration for this lyric from Romans 16:17-18 which says, “I appeal to you, brothers, to WATCH OUT for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.”

So, we are to be mindful of whom we put in any authority over us so our nations can be blessed. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!”

With all the above in mind, take time to review how Paul sassed back at the governing authority, that is what he took to be merely government authority but when he became aware that the person was the High Priest for that year, he apologized profusely sayig he was not aware he was the High Priest for that year.

That law about obeying those inauthority is in reference to the laws given to Moses and referred to the leaders of Israel, priests for Israel was originally aThheocracy. I do not believe for a new york moment that we are obliged to obey or give respect to any Caesars or Herods ever, but that is how I have believed since the Holy Spirit gave me that higher reason to use in my daily routine.

It is squite obvious today that most world leaders, if not all are liars and cheats, and it is also quite evident that mankind is prepared to follow jsut about anyone, even one whose name is equal to 666, or some scholars would say 606.

Well newton, all this shows us you have a tendency to overthink things. Yes, God reigns over everything and nothing happens unless He wills it. When we have bad, or even evil, leaders God has allowed but did not micro-plan or connive it into happening. It is more like a case of cause and effect and bad leaders people bring on themselves.

When we are dealing with God, we must understand everything follows His preordained path. It's like predestination and choice. God knows the end from before the beginning, but He does not hinder our choosing things. God knew about mankind's fall and all the evil throughout history, but He does not will it. Our finite minds can't comprehend how all this works together, but God works all the bad things out for the overall good of His chosen ones.

Rom. 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."(y)

Nineveh was spared in response to their repentance in 760 B.C, but was destroyed in 612 B.C. by the Medes, in fulfillment of the prophet Nahum’s prediction.

Reading Charles Spurgeon's commentary on Psalm 82 may be helpful in this regard.

https://www.christianity.com/bible/commentary.php?com=spur&b=19&c=82

There are some in power that acknowledge the Lord. That I do believe.

I've even felt that Parts of Psalm 2 have relevancy in this matter...

I do think we need to exercise discernment in who we honor for sure.

Nero was Caeser when Paul wrote this.

So i do not imagine he meant 'only obey the law when republicans are in the white house' -- as i seem to too often hear this interpreted to mean.

Paul rejoiced to be counted worthy to suffer for Christ's sake, and no matter who was Caeser or high priest in Israel, he preached the gospel, obeying God first rather than man. But did he encourage slaves to flee their masters? No, and he even sent Philemon back.

And was fulfilled Jonah's declaration too.

If a blind guides another blind both (for sure) will fall into a ditch.

Is there anyone blinder than someone who has in front the word of god and looks astray for interpretations?

~Divine Inspiration With An Earthly Story~ ( Parables )
"Christ taught in parables to invite us to reexamine some of our most cherished convictions about matters of 'Eternal Importance'. For this reason, Jesus’s parables often unsettle rather than reassure."
(Know this and know it well. A parable, or an allegory story
designed to illustrate or teach a moral lesson...to convey a
meaning indirectly by use of comparison.)
"Ponder these words carefully."........The Divine words tell
us precisely...what you see is not what is meant...'They look
and look, but do not see.'
( "The parable is, has been and always will be,
the language of the wise for speaking to the simple,
and the langage of the simple for speaking to the wise…"

"To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. In their case the prophecy is being fulfilled, which says,
‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’ But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it" ( God Inspired ).
'Praise God'

But there are writers who say that Romans 13: 1 is not talking about being subject to the person in authority, rather it says to be subject to the office itself, for in any nation under God, it is the office that has a direct link to God, not the person. Correct. God has ordained human government and governors, as well as kings and all those in authority. They are there to maintain law, order, and peace.

However, whenever any human authority OPPOSES GOD or his commandments, Christians are to reject those laws and directives, and suffer the consequences. A good example is how Peter AND John responded to the command to stop preaching the Gospel.

ACTS 4
5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole...
15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. [DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD COMMANDED]
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

We know that Peter was later on imprisoned, but God sent an angel and had him released.

If anyone orders against a command by god and there's no escape we must disobey.

Otherwise the expression "is against god" is too vague to allow disobedience.

Romans 12:18-21 (KJV)
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

It's best to avoid any confrontation with evil rulers. Americans have other means of dealing peacefully, like voting for another candidate. Support good politicians. Pray for all of them to fear God. Visit them to declare your desire. Voters can recall bad politicians sometimes. If an evil agent intends harm, stand on any statute that proves you are being legal. There is the judicial arm of government. In general governments have worked out good enough, being invented by God.

Around the world it's simply foolishness to defy a government and expect safety and freedom. One must pay some price for disobedience of men in authority, and of God, especially if you are unrighteous in a matter. Peter and Barnabus ignored commands to stop preaching, but were willing to pay the price. It wasn't that they desired to oppose a governmental decree, but that they were committed to preaching the gospel of Christ, which was not evil.

I must protest that God is part of authorizing heinous acts against humanity. He LETS awful things happen according to the will or allowance of mankind. God has NOT preordained SINFUL acts of men. He knows that sort of behavior will happen. If SIN prevailed, Jesus would never had access to the CROSS.

To understand G-d's role in bad things that happen too someone...we only need to study....yes...study the book of Job.

G-d does not ordain bad things to happen too anyone...but, He may allow it.

David deemed God's hand in all things pertaining to him; even the bad things. This is God we are talking about. Saying He allows it, is the same thing as Him doing it.

Psalms 39:9-13 "I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it. Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah. Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.”

That statement is absurd!

He allows you to lose your eternal salvation, based on your acts.......are you saying He causes you to lose your eternal salvation?

Please study the Bible. This is G-d we are discussing.

So, you think you are out of God's purview when really bad things happen to you?
