“He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.” (Isaiah 53:2)

It seems He was rather ordinary looking - or, in fact, homely. We can assume His skin color was olive.

Budman...you got it! Jesus was not run-way material. His face and 'manliness" as far as this modern world is concerned, would have never graced the covers of any Hollywood glamour magazine. He would have never been sought after for being "Macho". JESUS had more grace than anything ever walking this planet, but even His own hometown never accepted Him. You will not find a historical marker in front of His dad's carpenter shop. Jesus never dressed in fashion. His opinions were sought only when He was being tricked. Jesus was so "unpolitically correct" that HE was forced to the edge of a cliff in order to be cast off.

scripture suggest that John the Baptist and Jesus looked alike, but then again red hair and fair skin has Ireland's vote.

His appearance doesn't matter. Scripture is clear on that. Chances are the art we see of Him today is nothing like he really looked. His message is what attracted others to Him. Not his appearance. That is what we should concentrate on.

If you were stranded out in the desert and were extremely thirsty, I am sure the man offering you a bottle of water could be any color and it wouldn't matter to you. He would be your savior, and no matter his color, you'd still be grateful for his generosity. In the same way, regardless of Jesus' color we are grateful that we are saved by grace through faith, and for what He did on our behalf.

This isn't to downplay the question of His color, but to put things in perspective. He's Jesus and He loves you, died for you, and resurrected for you. His skin color is not why you love Him. You love Him because He first loved you. Reciprocity. So no matter His color, you love Him all the same as He loves you with an everlasting love that reached down from eternity into time with the hope of one day spending eternity with you. Lets be honest, He wooed you and you are reconciled to God, forevermore. His skin color is blinded by the light of His love.

Best answer so far. It deserves a rep.

Leave it to Time Magazine to make Jesus look like Cro-Magnon.
I'm thinking they just caught him by surprise when they took the picture.... sort of like what they do at the DMV on drivers license photos...

Also, I don't think the OP was asking in a prejudiced "I don't want no black Jesus" kind of way... With most "experts" telling us all our lives that Jesus resembled Peter Frampton frampton.png but we all know what middle easterners look like, I think it's normal curiosity to see what others think.
I've always wondered what Peter looked like... I picture him much like an outlaw biker in a robe and sandals...

It's interesting that in his resurrection body, people did not
immediately recognise him.

Luke 24:15
As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus
himself came up and walked along with them;

Luke 24:17
He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk
along?" They stood still, their faces downcast.

Luke 24:31
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he
disappeared from their sight.

John 20:14
At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she
did not realize that it was Jesus.

John 21:4
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples
did not realize that it was Jesus.

Indeed. I've always found that fascinating.

It would be great if they don't recognise me either. I will
hopefully be so thin and glamorous......Lol.

Ive often wondered why they didn't recognise Jesus, maybe his
resurrection body was so perfect and flawless it was like looking
at a different person - apart from the scars of the cross.

As good enough explanation as any! :)

I listen to the story of the young boy - Colton that went to heaven. He told his father that Jesus had "marks" on his hands and feet. I thought that was so cool!

Man, I hate to be the guy who tells you this, but that kid has admitted he made the whole story up.

Does it really matter?
Of course not. It's simply interesting to think about. I wonder what his voice sounded like? Probably not like James Earl Jones...

I never heard of that?...perhaps it's just someone on the internet putting what he saw down? People put all kinds of stuff on the internet and act as if it's true..I'll do a search and see what I can find.
