Look at the nationality He came from, and look at the distance He lived from the equator. The closer one's ancestors lived to the equator, the darker their skin. The further away one's ancestors lived, the lighter their skin. Christ's ancestor King David was a handsome man with dark skin, but it might have been a tan from being out watching the sheep so much. Jesus was purposely unbecoming so that no one would desire Him. He did not have long hair. He definitely did not look like the pictures people have of Him.
I believe it was Time magazine that did a study on what Jesus would have looked like, and all their experts came up with this picture...

Maybe it wasn't Time magazine... it looks like the picture has "BBC" on it.... no matter, just proves my memory is, um.... less than perfect...

I think Jesus was probably my colour!

I'm mixed race, part white British, part something else.
People usually ask if I'm from Israel, Egypt, China, Malaysia,
India, Singapore, Morocco, Mexico, someone once asked if I was from
lapland!

Maybe Jesus was mixed race, he was definately a mix of God and man.:)

Incidentally just got to tell you this, no offence intended to anyone.

Adam and Eve were walking in the garden of Eden trying to decide what
colour they were. So they went to God to ask and God said "You are what you are".
Still unclear on the matter they asked again the next day and God said
"you are what you are".
This didn't help much either so they asked for a third time and God said
"You are what you are".

"So what colour are we?" asked Eve to Adam.
"Oh no doubt about it we are white". Replied Adam.
"Well how do you know that?" asked Eve.
Adam replied "If we are black God would have said Ye is what ye is man". :)

He was swarthy dark if the Song of Solomon is describing Him.

Something very important contained within this subject. We will all be just like Him come the Kingdom, according to the Word.

This tells me we will be spirit like our Father, for He is Spirit and would be worshipped in Spirit and truth.

This also tells me if believers are more concerned with the appearance of the flesh, they are not yet part of the entire family, not fully, for we should concern ourselves with the spirit always, for this is our eternal being.

I think it is good that Jesus' skin color was not mentioned...sure his ethnicity is Jewish, but if they had mentioned a skin color/complexion then one race or another light/dark would say "oh hey Jesus looked like us so those who don't look like Jesus we're better than you." My answer is who cares....if he's dark or light at least He loved me enough to be abused and crucified and keep me out of hell. First thing I do when I get to heaven is give him a huge hug, it doesn't matter if he's white, black, brown, or clear like plastic.... :)

Well, it seems that people just want something to argue about. It boggles my mind the minutia that people get themselves worked up over while they miss the big picture. I wonder what the silly question of the day will be tomorrow - did Jesus wear boxers or briefs? Argue about that crap all day.

Jesus was a Jew. So he would not have been white as many pictures portray him. He would have olive colored skin and dark hair and be Jewish in his features.
So basically Jesus could have looked like this?
I mean seriously, what are 'jewish features' anyway?

I don't think He used sun cream, so I don't see how He could be white. On the other hand Salomon was white and red. Song of Solomon 5:10, the Dutch version, I don't see it in the English one.
I guess God didn't put it in the Bible how Jesus looks so we could have a great discussion about it when we're totally bored LOL.

I know he's portrayed as being white in art and movies, but was he really white? Or was he Arab like some say?
The Bible doesn't give us the answer to the color of his skin, but here are some examples of a representation of Him in Revelation:

"And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength." Rev 1:13-16

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God." Rev 19:11-13

I once was in a romantic I'm in love with Jesus mood and I wondered what color His eyes were. Brown or green? Then I thought about that text. A flame of fire.

He was a Jewish rabbi, an Isrealite and a carpenter (physically strong).
His Isreali lineage dates back to Jacob and King David. He is not an arab.

I just want to add that the media folks who came up with that image of Jesus as an arab-looking man are just as credible as the media folks who claim Jesus was married and had children or that his tomb has been found with his bones in it...

Several years ago I had the following dream.

I use to think of God the Holy Spirit as being a sort of vapour, force, power etc :)
Then one afternoon while having a nap I had a dream that I was reading a book,
only when I opened it there was 3 pages in front of me instead of the usual 2 pages.

On each page was a picture of the head and shoulders of a person and underneath each
picture was a description of each. In the dream I just knew I was seeing God the
Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Then I woke up!

But upon waking I could not remember what the writing had said or what the pictures
looked at, I just had this knowledge of who I had been looking at.

I desperately tried to go back to sleep to have the same dream again but I couldn't!
But it was through but that dream that I was shown God the Holy Spirit is a person,
not just a force or a thing.

As for their colour - Naagh I can't remember! But if it helps the pages of the book were
white. :)

I once saw Him in a dream and He didn't look Arab or dark, a quite hip short beard actually, not very long hair and a straight nose I remember, saw Him from the side, but then I looked on internet and others saw Him different, so I wouldn't make a theology from it. Also He doesn't look now how He looked then anyway. In another dream I got He was huge, in the sky and with a robe with all colours of the rainbow.

well scripture does not tell us of his skin color, he was common looking to maybe a bit homely. He most likely had locks and beard. But one thing is for certain he bled red.
Well he was Jewish so therefore his skin tone would have been olive. He would look like your typical Jew today I expect. Darker skinned than most paintings portray him.

Ok, a post modern Jesus. As a matter of fact that's exactly what people do today...make Jesus in their image instead of how Scripture presents Him.
In the movie, The Seventh Sign, Jurgen Prochnow played Jesus. I thought it was cool that Jesus was portrayed as coming back in modern clothing, and even with a German accent. :)

Nope I was a truck driver 30years and a cab driver 7...no need for GPS.

I traveled 20yrs singing and I keep thinking how great it would have been to have GPS back then. Can't count how many times we were lost trying to find a church or a campground. lol

Leave it to Time Magazine to make Jesus look like Cro-Magnon.
