SIN

Any testimonies of how people deal with sin to
not be casual about it?

Theres been enuf talk about how Christians dont sin
But since that isnt true. What seems to work so that
your just not saying your sorry and go on willy nilly?

DO THE TIMES TABLE'S FORGIVE 47X 7 AND KEEP GOING. THEN GET A CHOCOLATE CANDY BAR AND WATCH THE WILLY WONKA MOVIE. REALLY, THERE'S TOO MUCH TEMPTAITON AROUND US NOT TO SIN, OR BE TEMPTED TOO, FORGIVE OTHERS, SAY THE I SORRYS, AND FORGIVE YOURSELF, THE REPEATED PATTERN. HAVE NO OTHER EXPLANATION. :)

Conviction.
The Holy Spirit convicts you.
Which causes guilt and remorse.
Which leads you to say - "I'm sorry Jesus!, Please forgive me, and make it right."
Then He does, and your love for His tender mercies and unfailing Grace grows.
But this doesn't mean we sin that Grace abounds, for then we will suffer a seared conscience.
Because God is not mocked.
But He understands our frailties, - - - because He was once one of us. (Hebrews 2:17,18)

James 4:7-10

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Does anyone feel these verses have application?

Absolutely.
No one draws close to God thinking he/she is right.
This is why I fight perfectionists so.
Because they say they can be made 'holy' (in right standing) in this life ......simply by what they do.

Omission is a word you learn when you age.
At times to me it seems worst than commission.

YES #7. SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULD HAVE THAT THE ANTAGONIST DOSN'T IS WISDOM. BEING PREPARED, WITH THE FULL ARMOUR ON. THE HELMET OF SALVATION OUR MIND IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE WORD. QUIT EASY TO GET FIRED UP AND SAY A LOT OF THINGS, WISHING THEY WERE NEVER SAID. TO ME BEING MATURE IN CHRIST, IS HAVING THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT IN ACTION. I THINK THESE ARE OUR BULLETS AGAINST THE DEVICES OF THE WICKED. TO RESIST, SHOULD BE TO IGNORE, AND NOT LET IT CONFRONT YOU, BUT YOU CONFRONT IT WITH LOVE.

The Holy Spirit dealing with you makes it not casual.
You know when you've done wrong.
We know when we fall short, because we know we went our own way.
Now, there are some sins we don't even detect in ourselves, which makes
the idea of perfectionism all the more goofy.
The Word clearly states there are things we don't even know we need;
for which the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. - Romans 8:26

And what is sin?
Is it not falling short?
Falling short of what?
The mark God has set for us.
Who knows how high that mark is?
All the more reason to realize how badly we need His Grace.
The knowledge of this SHOULD keep us humble.

The thorn in Paul's flesh sent to buffet him; - II Cor. 12:7-10
What was it?
We don't know.........
But we know it was sent to keep him humble.
Read it.

It could have been a physical ailment.......
But why did he(Paul); call it 'a messenger of satan, sent to buffet him'?
Now we know demons are spirits, how does a demonic presence buffet someone?
I know in my own life how they buffet(bother) me......and that is with evil thoughts and temptations.
Have you ever stayed up all night fighting a continual urge?

I think that is accurate in the generalized lack of desire to grapple with tough issues and how they measure to the word. It's much more than telling Mrs. "ABC" you liked her lasagna, when you truly didn't.

realize your a slow learner???
Confessing is powerless without the CHANGE IN MIND/ repentance/ renewing of mind....

confessing is just announcing your sin not renouncing it

Listen, I have been on both sides of this 'so-called' debate. (Perfection vs. Sinning that Grace abounds)
I've done them both.
The first twenty three years of my life was a continual pendulum of going back and forth, from being perfect to an outright reprobate.
Eventually I was convinced I was a reprobate. Completely shunned from the faith.
I was sure God couldn't use me because I couldn't stop sinning.
So I started to long for a God that would accept me.
It was then that Jesus said to me, - "O.K., you finished with this foolishness?"
"Are you finally finished trying to prove to Me how righteous you are?"
(Then He said)...."See how it didn't work?"
I through tears and trembling lips stammered "yes???"
From that point He has never let me down.......He has never left me or forsaken me.
So I can truly witness to the world, 'he that has been forgiven much loveth much'.
And He has continued to keep His promise to me day by day......changing me from the inside out.
Conforming me into His image.
(I cry just thinking about it)
