So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable.
yeah the righteous and wicked are going to be raised up in an eternal body a spiritual one to face judgement for what they did in the flesh
“For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may
receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
2 Corinthians 5:10 KJV
this isn’t something that happens in the natural body but after we part the natural temporary tabernacle we dwell
In on earth first we die and then we face judgement after that
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
Hebrews 9:27 KJV
once a persons flesh dies all that remains of them is the spirit God put within them in the womb . The flesh is like an incubator to cultivate the living spirit inside. Or like a vehicle we drive through this life
Eventually every person who ever lived has to answer to god for the life they lived on earth. We aren’t going to do this in our dead body but after we leave our dead body
this conversation is headed towards “ is the lake of fire there to destroy completely the living soul ? Or is not there to torment forever the lost souls who reject Christ ?
scripture exists for both views eternal torment or destruction forever.
when we talk about the second death we should think of mans two parts we are a living spirit inside a body of flesh so our body dies and our spirit still has an appointment after that happens
“Appointed once to die ,
after this the judgement “
Do to actually die one has to have both parts of thier bieng body and spirit die for the soul to actually die. Do you have a first death of the flesh body and the second spiritual death seen at the white throne
“And as it is
appointed unto men once to die,
but
after this the judgment:”
Hebrews 9:27 KJV
“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and
the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and
death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death. And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Revelation 20:11-15 KJV
Notice The second death happens after all creation has disappeared ? All that’s left is the spirits of the dead before the throne being judged for thier deeds no heaven or earth for their body to inhabit but all Is gone but the dead and the judgement throne.
it makes no sense for God to remove heaven and earth then put everyone back in a flesh body that already died and decayed but instead thier living spirits have woken up and are being judged
eternity seems to be the destination we can spend it with Jesus in his kingdom or with Satan and his kingdom
“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Matthew 25:41, 46 KJV
it just comes down to is everlasting punishment to just cease to exist forever ? Or does it mean eternal Torment upon the spirit and soul ?
There are scriptures to support both ideas nothing definitive but one of those subjects that requires a preponderance of evidence rather than conclusive answer
