I was reading Titus chapter 2 today and I was really struck by the importance of hope in Christ and our calling in him. I know that hope in Christ is repeatedly emphasized throughout the NT. What I stopped to think about today is the role that hope plays in the Christian's ability to overcome sin in this life. I have always concentrated more on the role that faith plays. I think that it is hope in Christ that gives us the right perspective ( especially in times of struggles) and helps us not to faint. The hope we have in Christ enables us to have the necessary faith to seek him for grace to overcome.

"looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. Who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Titus 2:13-14.

Amen!...good one.

Peter says that we are to fix our hope completely on the grace that comes with the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is always central in all things for the believer.

1 Peter 1:13
[SUP]13 [/SUP] Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit,
fix your hope completely on the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Yes, His grace as our infallible teacher that teaches us to say no to ungodliness causes us to look as a living hope that will not disappoint as many that the Father gave to His Son..

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;Tit 2:11
