Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
Jesus was saying to the women do not delay me any further GO! and tell my disciples and Peter I have risen. Because I do not have much time 10 days after HE rose from the dead HE ascended.

Maybe I’m a bit too cautious, but something smells in Denmark with this poster. Haven’t put my finger on it just yet.

Hebrew roots perhaps.

Maybe anti- Trinitarian.

I agree with Members about the reasons to not be touched, but Verse 14 has always fascinated me.
14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

Here Mary is looking directly at Yeshua but she does not recognize Him.
Why?
Mary would have known His face, His stature, His Being, but suddenly now she can't see any of those things.
Did Yeshua change?
Did He become the WORD again when He was dealing face to face with Abraham as the LORD (Cap letters LORD)?

Something took place in Christ's appearance from death on the Cross to Resurrection that now Mary no longer recognized Him.

I prefer the Kjv .
17¶Jesus saith unto her, touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

And is this referring to Acts 1 . Or does he mean literally as it says in the verse . Prior to Acts 1 ?

The translation you have used does not present what was actually said, and in fact distorts the words of Christ: Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. (KJV)

We are not given the reason why Christ told Mary not to touch Him, but there must have been a very good reason. Later on (after 8 days) Thomas would touch Jesus.

However there is no question that following His resurrection, Christ would first ascend to God the Father for two reasons: (1) in order to sprinkle His shed blood on the Mercy Seat in the Heavenly Sanctuary, as our Great High Priest, and (2) to take all the OT saints from Hades to the New Jerusalem which would mean that the gates of Hades (not Hell) could not prevail against the Church of Christ. After the resurrection, every believer goes straight to Heaven upon his or her demise.

After that Christ would descend back to earth to show His disciples that He was indeed alive with many infallible proofs, and also to spend forty days on earth with them, teaching them all that they needed to be taught before His final ascension, and preparing them to fulfil the Great Commission.
Agreed. Again the Kjv shows reliability and consistency.

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
Which part of the verse are you referring to ?

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
Jesus told Mary, "Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended unto the Father" ( To make the once and for all sacrificial offering)

Mary, merely touching Jesus with her flesh hands would have defiled the sacrificial offering. That's why no one but the priest was allowed into the holy of holies.

I thought this was after Jesus had risen.............when He said touch Me not. for I am not yet glorified. That process lasted forty days until He ascended.
Not quite............8 days later he allowed Doubting Thomas to touch him, so Jesus went to the Father, offered the Sacrifice, and brought back the Holy Spirit (gift to the bride). He did leave after 40 days, which is why the "Second Coming" is a misnomer, it's the Second Advent of Jesus Christ, the first advent was a meek lamb led to the slaughter, for our sons. The Second Advent will be as a Conquering King of Israel, reigning in Jerusalem for 1000 years.

Selection of the Bride
Jewish Wedding - The Son chooses the Bride – the Father makes the arrangements
Church - John 15:16 – “You did not choose Me, but I chose you . . .”

The Bride Price established
Jewish Wedding - The father of the bride must be reimbursed for the loss of his daughter.
Church - I Corinthians 6:20 - “For you were bought with a price.” The Bride price was paid when Jesus died on the Cross.

The Bridal Gift and the Cup of the Covenant

Jewish Wedding – The Bride is given a gift by the groom.
Church - The Holy Spirit is given by Jesus –– “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) This, of course, occurred on the Day of Pentecost.

Do you ever allow for other translations? Have you read the Word in more than one language. Other versions than one. I have read both interpretations..................Allow for others to read as they will and understand by the Holy Spiirit. The words may differ, but then the Holy Spirit may explain both quite well.

The Holy Spirit is the Authority..
I think that the choice of the version we read is inspired by the Holy Spirit. I, for instance, can't even recognize other translations. It confuses me. I stick with the one I was led to.

That's not to say everyone must read the KJV, but as you say, the Holy Spirit will lead each person to whichever translation might be most beneficial to them.

Because I get very confused when I see the same verse another way, it's almost as if it's saying something different. I cant' even recognize it as scripture and I think it's just them speaking in their own words. And when someone does cite a verse to me in some unrecognizable translation version, I have to look it up in KJV to get it.

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
immediately after he rose

“Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭20:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭20:26-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I would submit to you that after Mary saw the lord immediately after his resurrection , this then happened before the time Thomas saw him and was invited to touch him he was ordained in heaven

“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ( Daniel 7:10-14) Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭5:6-9, 11-13‬ ‭

so when he peters from then here it makes sense of his statement that he receives all power and authority in heaven and earth

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Mary wasn’t to touch him because of the uncleanness of the living touching the dead body in the law . Jesus was perfect and forever alive d had to appear in heaven for his ordination after his glorification it. I longer mattered if someone touched him he was enthroned And emitted cleansing spirit

notice when Thomas touched him he instantly believed

well you cannot say you are a Christian, as she did in her other thread, and then go on to say she cannot find anything about the Holy Spirit in HER Bible

I'm holding my nose as I post ;)

What do you mean by 'send' the Holy Spirit? I can't find anything rearding the Holy Spirit in my Bible, unfortunately.

which Bible would that be?

Yes, something was weird about that post alright.

She took a single self explanatory line of scripture and asked for clarification on it. If you read it as part of the larger paragraph, the literal sense is incredibly obvious.

All the further explanations are what you would find if you read the entire story of Jesus' resurrection and the events afterward anyway.

There is one further, more controversial possibility as to why Jesus said those words, but unless you have the book of Thomas (which only the Coptics use) then it is not scriptural.

I'm not sure that person is a "seeker."

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
This was the first fruits offering. It was harvested in such a way not to be touched by human hands.
Next came a wave offering and so fourth.
These offerings were given to the high priest and were offered to God for blessings and Thanksgiving.
Jesus was the firstfruits

Good question. Good Thread. I don't know either, but it is interesting to see how things changed after 8 days...

John
20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God.
20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: [then] came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you.
20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

His post mentioned "the Comforter".

The Comforter = The Holy Spirit.

The Comforter mentioned in John 16:5-16 is the Holy Spirit according to John 14:26. I am using the KJV where the Holy Spirit is sometimes referred to as the Holy Ghost:

John 14:26
26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

After a new birth there was to be 8 days of purification?

Luke
2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present [him] to the Lord;
