Living with purpose takes understanding God and how God is reflected in our universe and lives. Living a meaningful life with contentment, satisfaction, and deep happiness takes understanding the spiritual side of our life, and having that part of our life very real to us.
It is explained in the first verses of Genesis. At first the universe was a spiritual darkness. The word used in Hebrew was choshech, a word meaning blindness, of misery, of falsehood and ignorance. It means something that leads to death and destruction. On the the first day God added owr, a Hebrew word meaning illumination, enlightenment, a requirement for life. That is the spiritual side that endures forever.
God created us to live with this light and God gives us all kinds of help to do that. Sin is part of this darkness and it leads to this darkness in our world. God sent us scripture as a sort of road map away from this darkness, He sent His son who went through three days of hell to be a way for our forgiveness from sin, God sent the Holy Spirit to help usunderstand and to help guide us.
Using all these guides for what God calls a narrow way to walk, I try to follow them best I can, and when I still miss the right road I have Christ who forgives me and sets me right again.
