[h=1]Romans 8:11 (KJV)[/h] [SUP]11 [/SUP]But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

[h=1]1 John 3:9 (KJV)[/h] [SUP]9 [/SUP]Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Can't sin because he is "born of God" (Spirit).

Paul...

colossians 3 : 5-10 "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator."

ephesians 4:17-32So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

ephesians 5: 1-15"
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise

if a person preaches that paul is the authority.....should probably notice these things THROUGHOUT his letters and not teach a verse here n there that make it sound as if theres no responsibility on the believer who is saved by Grace in order to obey and Live as a child of God....Just a thought tho. could always just tell everyone " there is no condemnation possible once you say I'm in Christ." it truly is as the scriptures repeat....time to wake up and shine thanking God with our lives as well as our words
but we are not accounted as righteous before God on this basis. This is to result from justification and salvation. It would be no good talking this way to men who had not received new life in Christ.

We are justified FREELY by grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. No works are required for our justification. It is all of grace. No works are involved. He then introduces new life to us and we begin to think as Paul said.

Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Nothing wrong with Romans 8:1, but many deceivers try to say the part in red was not in the original letters, but that is just a lie to try to distort the Truth. The part in red is right in line with the rest of gospel message, and that is unrighteousness and ongoing sinners (those who walk after the flesh) shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Sin does not reign in a persons life if they are truly under Grace and in the Spirit, but this message is being perverted and distorted by many deceivers here in the last days.
Regardless of the argument over whether or not "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit" is in the originals, this is descriptive language anyway of those who are in Christ Jesus.

To walk after the flesh is to walk in sin, to walk after the Spirit is to walk in righteousness. The flesh is opposed to the Spirit as sin is also the opposite of righteousness, and death the opposite of Life. So if one is living in sin they are not living in righteousness. Grace reigns through righteousness (Christ's righteousness being manifest in us, and through us to produce the fruit of the Spirit).

Galatians 5:16-17 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.[SUP]17 [/SUP]For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

The only way we commit sin is in our flesh. Our spirit is one with Him and cannot sin. It is our spirit that is "born of God".

We will have sin in our flesh but to God, it is already dead and He will "quicken" our mortal bodies (glorification) at the resurrection (rapture).

And I agree with scripture, but a person proclaiming themselves to be "in Christ" does not make it so does it? Is a homosexual priest truly "in Christ" just because they say so? The proof is in the walk.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

there is a problem with teaching romans 8:1 as a whole statement or doctrine. satan uses scripture Just as He did with Jesus. the scripture written in romans 8:1 is true as they all are. But the context is of most importance as always. romans 8:1 HAS to be supported with what is it to be in Christ? its all there in the same chapters. just beyond that scripture paul says plainly to live according to sin, you will die, to live by the spirit you will live. He says those who belong to Christ have crucified, or put to death the sinful nature. Pauls wording for repentance, crucify the flesh. context is all important in pauls writings.

false doctrines are built and spread by choosing which scriptures fit the idea of the man, any doctrine can be taught by picking and choosing. a person can go to the old testament and make killing, stoning children, burning sinners with fire a doctrine if taken from proper context. to say grace is where we stay is a true statement, but it is the grace IN Jesus Christ. there is nothing wrong with romans 8:1 nor any scripture. There is much wrong when teaching it as the true doctrine of Christ without teaching the rest of what is there is my point. you cant build doctrine from a scripture or even scriptures if your doctrine doesn't Jive with the rest of what is written.

what does it mean to be In Christ? where there is no condemnation

so , I'm not sure what you are saying here. What if a person who says they are born of God lies on a daily basis to people, cheats on His wife regularly. is this person sinning? or because they are saying they are born again, their actions aren't sin?

please clarify what you mean here. is sin not sin because we say I'm born of God? because right around those same scriptures John tells us how we know were born of God. which involves keeping His commandments. so is a liar and adulterer sinning if he says hes born of God? or is it impossible for Him to be sinning no matter what he does?

if that is how you take Gods word I suppose it is for you. It is actually intended to show that Paul didn't teach a lawless grace, but just as all of Gods word makes clear. Sin is death, obedience to God is Life. to a person who loves their self and ants to follow their own desires, probably could be taken as you state it. Myself I look at it as the truth of Gods word, and a good thing as all of His word is. so I suppose its up to the reader if they wish to see it that way, probably should stick to the posts a person wants to hear if its offensive to see whats actually written in Gods word.

Yes if a Christian tells a lie, they have sinned in the flesh. What we do in our flesh has consequences, but salvation is not one of them because our spirit cannot commit sin. We are secure in Him. There is plenty of scripture support for this that is continually used here but seems to be rarely recognized because to do so might make someones thinking of what biblical truth is. Please read the scripture and recognize salvation is a work of God, not man.

[h=1]2 Timothy 4:18 (KJV)[/h] [SUP]18 [/SUP]And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

[h=1]1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (KJV)[/h] [SUP]23 [/SUP]And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

[h=1]Jude 24-25 (KJV)[/h] [SUP]24 [/SUP]Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
[SUP]25 [/SUP]To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

[h=1]1 Corinthians 1:7-8 (KJV)[/h] [SUP]7 [/SUP]So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

really is throughout the nt as well as ot. always guard against a message that opposes obeying Gods word. Has been His will from the beginning and will be His will the day Jesus returns to gather the faithful elect. as John writes it in revelation " the saints who obey Gods commandments and hold the testimony of Jesus." God is the same, man failed, so in His Grace, He made us new, and able by the spirit of His son living in us. The same Son who teaches all we need all these same things. The same son who Lived to obey God the Father, and teaches all His followers to do the same. The will and way of God is to hear the word, and follow it. Grace made us able, understand true Grace and see the difference in todays message about grace being our god, and the truth of Grace Being an attribute of Jesus.

Hi...I love that scripture in James. It says that when we see ourselves for who we really are - do not forget yourself in Christ - if we do not continue walking in who we are in Christ - we deceive ourselves...great scripture..it is one of my favorites...thanks for reminding me of it.

You are familiar to me. Have you been on here before under a different name? ...your writing is exactly like jasonj. Do you know him?

The only way we commit sin is in our flesh. Our spirit is one with Him and cannot sin. It is our spirit that is "born of God".

We will have sin in our flesh but to God, it is already dead and He will "quicken" our mortal bodies (glorification) at the resurrection (rapture).

so to put that in other words it doesn't matter how we live, because our spirit is born again? that's exactly the result of false grace teachings, very evident that it leads away from obedience to God, which is evidence to the eyes that see that it is not coming from God, or the spirit of holiness. why do you suppose the new testament is full of statements like you MUST rid yourselves of all such things? these types of statements are written throughout the old and new testaments. are those of no importance because of mis applied single scriptures taken way out of context to support a false doctrine that says trying to obey God is "works of the law" lol your comment here is perfect example of how the grace wave is destroying Christians and misleading them to think sin wont be punished by The God who has said from the beginning it will. and God is faithful to His word.

your comment again highlights why we don't choose one scripture, and then skip somewhere to another that seems to clarify it. there are 1001 doctrines that can be made convincing by doing that. since you mention context look at the verses around the one you are using from 1st john lol. doing what is right, obeying His commands these are what John clearly says shows a person that they ARE born of God. a doctrine that says obedience isn't important is a false doctrine. Grace that says obedience isn't a duty is a false grace. a doctrine that plucks a verse or two from all those around it that don't fit, is the makings of a false doctrine. Gods will is to obey Him with a glad heart because of Grace given through the death and resurrection of His Son. the gift is the spirit that we MUST follow and obey. if a man is cheating on His wife, lying to people, serving money and pleasures of the world, they are in danger of eternal torment and in DIRE need of confession and repentance so that they can be cleansed from the acts that lead to death.

really the whole book of 1st john you've quoted from says it as do so many passages clearly from the nt as well as old. the change is not Gods mercy to sin, but the change is the condemnation of sin that once lived in us. to obey the spirit is to walk after it with the body, to serve God in the spirit is to act in righteousness. The trouble is people think the spirit is not really new, or has no real power to change a life. actions of the believer are important and will determine whether grace is saving, or refused. Grace forced, it is offered and either accepted or denied. righteousness is a gift, it is either accepted or denied.

1 john 2:3-6 "We know that we have come to know him IF we obey His commands. The man who says "i know him" but DOES NOT do what He commands is a liar and the truth is not in Him. BUT if anyone obeys Gods word, Gods Love is truly made complete in Him. THIS IS HOW WE KNOW WE ARE IN HIM. whoever claims to live in Him, must walk as Jesus did."

Now what is it to be "In Christ" ? where there is no condemnation? according to the very plain and clear scriptures 1 john 2:3-6? to be in Christ, is to obey His commands and His commands are not burdensome, how is that possible? by accepting the spirit of God offered through faith in Jesus, AND following that spirit with our actions now in this life.

1 john 5:3-4 " This is in fact Love for God: TO OBEY HIS COMMANDS and His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world."

cant separate born again from obedience new birth of Gods spirit, brings an obedient Heart, which brings an obedient Life

If we consider ourselves to be a teacher, then we should obey Jesus and listen to Jesus..here, He told a Pharisee all about it!

1Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”3Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[SUP]a[/SUP]4“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”5Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[SUP]b[/SUP] gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[SUP]c[/SUP] must be born again.’ 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”[SUP]d[/SUP]

exactly right. Grace is overjoyed with the new life that made us well able to obey God. false grace is easily identified because it hates even the thought of obedience. that's why people can read paul and conveiniently skip over the many directives of obedience , repentance He gives. it isn't driven By God, but His enemy who will always say " no need to listen to God" Where as Gods spirit will always be saying " obey the Lord, He is right, He is good, He will never lead you astray, follow Him, do what he says is right" eternally God is saying to live is to hear me and obey, to die is to listen to the other guy
