but you guys claim yoi CAN have faith without love
I don't. I just say that we are saved by faith and that even when we don't feel anything we are still saved.

EXACTLY; love is what you DO

despite how you FEEL
That's called obedience, not love.
Love is the attitude or emotion with which you do something.
1 Cor 13 says actions without love (corresponding emotion and intent of well being towards those you are loving) are useless.

It is claimed that faith is not based upon emotions. I disagree, because faith comes from love for a person (Jesus Christ) whom a person must be in relational (and therefore emotional) love with. Every one of Jesus's disciples believed in Him and followed Him because they loved Him and had a deep emotional affection for Him. Faith without love is incomplete, just as love without feeling is incomplete... you know the scripture "faith works by love", and love without emotion is empty and fake.

This is why marriages break up

someone wakes up one morning and the emotion is absent

obviously I dont love you now; I getting a divorce

Husbands love your wives (despite how you feel)

It says love your wives as you love yourself. There is nothing in the bible on marriage about loving without feeling.
The solution is not to continue on struggling to love them when in fact you feel nothing, that will lead to break up. The solution is , with God's help, to get back in touch with emotions and love emotionally.

The Bible does not say that how you feel is an issue

How you behave

How you think

Feelings may follow

Well the idea of a rational/irrational separation and distinction comes from Greek philosphy or paganism I thought. In the minds of God, Christ and the authors of the bible, when something is written there is always a corresponding and associated emotion understood to be present. The soul , afterall, is not just thoughts, but also emotions. The word joy is used frequently throughout the bible. The words love and peace are also used. These are not concepts or thoughts, they are emotions and feelings. You can't "think peaceful" or "think joyful" today, you "feel peaceful" and "feel joyful" . These are all feelings. Love, joy and peace are the associated emotions accompanying faith in God. Often Christ did something because He felt compassion towards the person. Besides joy, peace, and love, there is also compassion, delight, ectasy, zeal and fervour. These are all or involve emotions last time I checked.

Or the alternative is "I'm saved...but I don't feel joyful, loving, peaceful or compassionate, I give to the poor because I have to, I love my wife because it's my duty and I have to, I go to church because I have to not because I feel like it, I obey God because it says I have to on page 150 of my bible, every morning I tell my wife, "I don't feel anything for you, but I love you anyway " ".

That is right

start behaving in a certain way

and the feelings WILL FOLLOW

the Bible doesn't say Love Thy neighbour if thou feelest like it

Good we agree that both are normal and both are necessary?

the Bible doesn't say Love Thy neighbour if thou feelest like it
It does say love your neighbour "as you love yourself". And the reason why it says "as you love yourself" is because you always feel like loving yourself. Nah, I'm being facetious again.

greatkaw you are almost scaring me

EVERYTHING in the bible is based on love
and you CANNOT talk about love and say it is separated from feeling

I DO have gods love for several people that I do not like, however strange that may seem
I was bullied ten years straight, and no matter how curious it may seem, I do feel some love towards thoe who did
not my own, but Gods. - and YES, it is a feeling, not just something I think I should do.

so you never wake up one day and wonder that the feeling is missing?

however temporarily?

I think a lot of the time we suppress our worship which is not good because the Holy Spirit wants to worship God in all its power. One time during a song in church I just started crying thinking about my life and what God had done for me and I felt him calling me up to the altar. The pastor had begun preaching when i interrupted his service and walked up, but he said we will just let the spirit move today where it will. When I started praying at the altar, I could not move there was so much energy coursing through me it felt awesome. That day definitely strengthened me because I did not suppress the Spirit, but it can also be bad if you are in a church that demands these type of experiences, which I was, because then you feel like your on the outs if you are not or may even make you feel like this is what saves you or makes you better then most and the devil can cause miracles to deceive.

Cool topic, great reactions.

I understand what Greatkraw says. I think he has a point. It's very hard to accept, and I'm talking for myself:

Love is more complicated than a feeling. If I feel like loving my mum, then that's easy. Is it real love, or just a feeling I like? If I have to love my ennemy (just an example), it becomes harder. Every bit of feeling in my body rejects that. I don't want to love my enemy. That's what love is about. It's acting and handling like it's defined in the Bible. And now the real difficult part. Jesus want me to love my enemy with my heart too... I don't have to cuz I have to, but I have to cuz I want to love... So it's a combination of both opinions I guess. But it seems like loves isn't the same as a feeling...

Feel free to correct me if I see something wrong, my friends!

well that is the thing, love can come in so many wasy

i have fet love for my enemies before, and of course it was not that cuddley cozy feeeling, but I still recognized it as love

the bible tells us to laugh with those who are happy and cry with those who are sad!
it tells us to love God with both HEART MIND AND SOUL

which means you CANNOT take love out of the equation

I SEE THIS BATTLE WILL GO ON AND ON
BUT
MAY I REMIND EVERYONE
ONE OF THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY GHOST
DISCERNMENT
IS A FEELING AND AWARENESS OF WHO IS AROUND
WHTETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT
IT IS A SYSTEMATICAL EMOTION
BY WHICH
THE
HOLY GHOST INSIDE YOU
FLOODS YOUR INNER AWARENESS BY A FEELING
TO MAKE KNOWN
OF LIKE SPIRITS OR SPIRITS BY WHICH OPPOSE YOU

SO FOR THOSE
CLAIMING FEELINGS ARE WRONG
BETTER
GET IN CONTACT WITH THE HOLY GHOST
AND SEE IF
HE IS ACTIVE IN YOU OR NOT
IF
YOU CANNOT FEEL
ANYTHING

I have all the symptoms everyone has listed here, and lol I am Loving everyone of them. The swaying thing I noticed about a year ago and I think it is God's rocking us in His bosom when we let Him deep into our hearts.

I do not believe that GreatKraw believes in an emotionless worship or an emotionless relationship with God. I think that He wants to say that our worship must be even greater than our emotions. We must be able to worship God even in the midst of sorrow.

I believe that that is where true worship is...when we are in sorrow or feeling down and the last thing we feel like doing is to worship.
